I'm getting less and less enamoured of highly detailed locos. They often have parts that are fragile and break off even before opening their package. I'd much prefer more internal detail and less breakable detail. And functional reliability. Nice running session... she's a beauty.
Back in day, here in Australia, the Lima range was budget priced. It got many Aussies started into building model railways. I still have a lot of Lima stuff and it still runs just fine.
Managed to pick one of these up for 19.00 last year converted to DCC and it is excellent. The only awkward thing is getting the body off as you have to remove the buffers. Excellent review once again Sam.
Ello you two, quick question! Can I call you LJ (LAZER JET) and ST (SAM'S TRAINS)! Ps sam's trains can you start a trackmaster classic/revolution collection PPS try to get trackmaster classic tender locos
Honestly Sam, this is the best model railway channel i have ever seen! you got so many locomotives i love all the trains in the videos and i can't stop watching :)
I have one and really Love it. It runs quite well, but motor sounds like a bit like a coffee grinder. It will run quite well on first radius set track as well. Considering a newer one for the ease of DCC and sound. Here in the US, RDC's built by the Budd Corporation in the late 40s and 50s still survive in running condition, some re powered with modern diesels. There are 8 of them not far from me. Thanks Sam, Cheers, I enjoy all your videos!
Hey Sam great review, I've had mine in excess of 25 years now, still goes very well. Ref it pulling anything no. 22 worked the Newbury to Lambourn branch and was fitted to pull a horsebox. The real no. 22 can be seen at Didcot Railway Centre. Regards Terry.
Hey Terry - glad to hear yours is still a good runner - thanks for the info on that, it's a shame this can't haul anything without couplings :( Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Three years on and still a very useful review - - after I had made my purchase today of No. 22, thank you. Yes you have definitely confirmed the value for money, great internal detail and the two colours for seats and compartmentalisation is extra value add. Its an interesting piece to add and at well under £40 is far better than paying £150/ £160 on todays new - its seems to be a square law on extra detail versus price!! I shall remove the D couplings and add some unused over detail off other new models (just for fun on just this one), fit a few passengers saving myself over £120. Agree with many comments below that todays models have far too many fiddly parts that break off too easily - manufactures seem to be going too far now. These tend to be obscure items which the manufacturers have to tell you what they are and where to fit - even then they can get it wrong as happened on my Heljan 1509! Stephen
A great review, I love these quirky railcars and when first introduced in 1933 they were quite sleek for the time and were know to pull a single coach at times also. I've just bought one of these in BR green but not run it yet so I'm hoping for a smooth runner like yours.
The end always reminds me of a Dragon Rapide which was a small airliner of about the same time 1930s. So very streamlined for its time when streamlining was all the rage. This is a later version, the first ones are as modelled by Dapol and are a bit more rounded , whereas this one has more angular lines . A nice little model
Hello Sam this is an awesome videos I'm so happy I just got my first hornby model which is a model Smokey joe it runs great even at slow speed even though it's DC . I love it I also got some open ore wagons and a GWR brake van and two 4 wheel coaches in Caledonian blue.
That's okay mate - thanks for watching! I only ever add back-ground music for long periods of un-cut video - you-tube viewers don't stick around for long, so you have to do everything possible to keep them! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Great review mate :) yeah I'd say all things considered it's a great model, maybe not up to the standards of the dapol one but at a distance you probably couldn't tell! I saw one of the surviving 3 at York last year, annoyingly I didn't pay much attention or get many pictures because I was busy being amazed, all the best mate :) --- Ben
Thanks so much mate - glad you thought so too, I was very happy with it! Ooh very cool - I'd love to see it too - I must have missed it when I went a few years back :( Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Nice Review. It reminds me of the scheinenzepplin. I’d like to see some of that. It has a very interesting history and a quirky design. I’ve seen a few companies with models. Thanks
Yeah, I remember seeing this in a video and asking if this was reviewed or not but I can't remember which one. But it is a sublime looking thing. :) It looks like some of the street trams that Chicago used to have way back then.
Absolutely - I've been wanting to do this one ever since I got it! Ooh okay - I'd like to get one of those in model form actually! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Lima locos are very good depending on how hard you look at swap meets and exhibitions. I honestly don't care about very tiny details and Lima has just enough for me. Recently picked up a very nice class 73 "Post Haste" in Intercity with new traction tyres as well as being serviced, for only £25. The nickname of the 'flying banana" came from its original streamlined casing, the Lima model is based on the later un-streamlined models, the Dapol model has the original streamlining. I might try and tack one of these down for my new micro layout but I won't be looking forward to DCC fitting one! Nice video, keep up what your doing
I just love the Flying Bananas and have two of the Lima versions, No22 and the Express Parcels model. Other Lima locos I have is GWR King George V and a GWR 2-6-0 small Prairie. They may all be old, locos, but they are all very reliable and perform well at all speeds. Good review on this model. I also have a Hornby version of this Railcar, but it doesn't run as smooth as the Lima model
haha me too - such interesting things really! Ahh yes the good old lima steamers - definitely good and reliable as you say! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I have a maroon parcels version of the railcar. Its in storage presently until house is fixed up . Looking forward to running it again, but it does have an occasional annoying squeak! I bought it new in the early 1980's.
Sounds great Stephen - I bet that looks fantastic in maroon! Mine squeaked when it was new too - a good service sorts them out proper though! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I have the hornby version and it looks very similar also some times the postal rail cars would pull a gwr goods van for extra storage but otherwise they went light cheers
A good solid and reliable loco Sam, great review, considering how basic the motors are on Lima locos, they are very reliable over many years of usage....Bob
I watched the Dapol review before this one. I was thinking that as it has couplings, your bull can be towed behind. You were so respectful of the Dapol one, until you reviewed it. :)
Also, it looks like this is selling for about $70 (including shipping) on American eBay. I realized the prices for these Lima models probably went up after remembering a comment saying that second-hand models went up in value over the pandemic. I must say, I'm not as crazy about spending $70 on one of these, but while I would expect the price has been lowered to account for the shipping, I guess there's a chance they go for as much as $30 less equivalent in GBP in the UK itself? (Members of my family, myself included, have traveled to the UK a lot, individually or as a group, over the years, so maybe one of us could snag one for a bargain price some day?) The fact that I could run this for hours on a regular basis when I would quickly wear out a more modern model is one of the biggest appeals. Unlike you, I own very few engines (though my dad owns practically a small warehouse of them), so I wouldn't have very much to run once I move out, and, after all, sometimes the best way to enjoy your model railroad is to let a train run round and round and to lie down on the floor and watch it.
Interestingly I’ve recently bought exactly the same at Doncaster Swapmeet £32. In very good condition just needed a wheel clean and bearing lube. There is a pristine full-size example on display at York Railway Museum at the moment. Rather fancy getting the BR Carmine and cream version.
Don't mind a GWR Diesel Railcar. I don't know if this thing might have hauled something in its lifetime. But one Diesel Railcar named Daisy, from Thomas & Friends, was very lazy and stubborn at first. She kept leaving the Tidmouth Milk Tank behind, which caused confusion and delay. In the story of Percy's Predicament, after Percy wound up perched on a goods wagon through trouble with trucks, Sir Topham Hatt spoke severely to both him and Daisy. Daisy learned her lesson and behaved better. It's a pity no Hornby or Bachmann Model of Daisy exists in this present day. Maybe you could find out why. However, nice to see the GWR 2-6-0 Mogul Tender Engine with a goods train. I have the exact same model, whose real-life counterpart resides at the Didcot Railway Centre. My model is just as good a runner as she is with pulling power. A side-windowed cab version resides on the SVR and West Somerset Railway respectively. The WSR Mogul was actually a Prairie Tank Engine to begin with, yet she looks nicer, I think, as a GWR Tender Engine. Is the GWR Mogul a favourite steam engine of yours? I'm curious.
I've seen one photo of a gWR railcar pulling one Autocoach, and apparently, they pulled other types of coaches as well (but only one coach, other railcar, or wagon) This is actually you first non-tank engine review of the 2018 season!
you where wondering about the steam heating? there are watertanks under the Loco That are full of water.. then the Engine getting hot Boils the water making heat! :D thats how that works! She is a really nice Model! :D
Hi sam. I was watching one of your older clips. It was the track cleaning one. I plan to look out for one in the future. At moment i have an old yellow coach track cleaner but has no pads. I was wondering what speed you would run one at and how you would clean track ends and inside loco sheds. Thanks
Hi John, thanks a lot for the comment - those track cleaning wagons are not something I personally use, but I'd run them at a moderate speed, and give them several laps. The best option for me is the use the peco track rubber - it just does the job so much better than any other method I've tried! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Sam Hornby bought Lima and other brands so thats wy they bring out with the lima name on it. Great video btw Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 Jens Tijdeman
was the odd one the DMU in the station or the engine in the crane siding? it looked like a D16 but there was great western on the tender, but could you review it if you didn't already?
I like it Sam and it’s way less expensive than the D***l one ....nice review...my list of wants gets ever longer ......regards Fred ....ps is there one at Didcot
Thanks Fred - for sure, definitely way less expensive - and it still runs very nicely! :D I'd love to see the one at didcot! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi my friend =). That railcar looks like a monorail. That's good as always Sam. I like it very much Sam. Do you want to make abandoned rail track? Cause that's gonna be cool. If you can't so it's OK.
I am fine if a loco is not completely detailed. The prices of highly detailed in ho is crazy. In the us flying Scotsman cost $120.00 but a mth PRR k4 costs $500.00
Hey dude I want to get started in railway building so could you tell me if all of those Trains (hornby,Leonel legacy, etc have the same gauge sise?I’m a huge fan from Brazil
Oh and Sam just a few more requests do a double tender flying Scotsman and a athearn genesis z8 challenger check your radius because it said minimum of 18 it’s good and solid on 22 and do a hornby weathered p2 and a weathered hornby a4 any one and a athearn sd40-2 it’s super detailed be careful pieces will BREAK IF YOUR NOT VERY CAREFUL
Yes, now that was a close shave even duck would be proud of ;) great review Sam, what is the name of the piece of music used in the ratings? Keep the faith - callum
haha I know it - I didn't realise I'd left it that close! I'm not too sure actually, I'll have to check - it's a rag of some kind! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Tommy - a lot of it will do, except for the very early locomotives and rolling stock - which don't run as nicely! Anything after the mid-1960s should be fine! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Ryan, if you're looking for shunters on a budget, their Jinty models are very good (3Fs) and also their Railroad 0-4-0s are great bargains! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hey Sam, nice review. Did you get the photo I emailed you for the wall of fame? It was a green 7 1/4 gauge Narrow gauge locomotive with a wreath with santa on the smoke box taken at echills wood railway I told you about ( we're still not open so I'll tell you when we do open)
Apparently these railcard are built with an AEC diesel engine which is the same type as my grandads AEC mammoth major lorry half built in 1945 but was put on hold and was hidden away because of the war and in 1948 it was completed
I'm getting less and less enamoured of highly detailed locos. They often have parts that are fragile and break off even before opening their package. I'd much prefer more internal detail and less breakable detail. And functional reliability. Nice running session... she's a beauty.
I do have a soft spot for Lima models. Solid and pretty bombproof
I agree - they are lovely when they're built to last - but that isn't all that common these days :/
Thanks a lot for the comment mate,
Sam :)
I agree absolutely Crow T. Robot !
Yeah, those details don't mean anything with my eyesight.
Agreed. Hoses and handrails everywhere don't make a model better.
Back in day, here in Australia, the Lima range was budget priced. It got many Aussies started into building model railways. I still have a lot of Lima stuff and it still runs just fine.
Yeah definitely - always great value models from Lima - I still enjoy most of mine too! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Wow £19 for this is superb - great bargain mate! Absolutely - the body removal was a bit of a puzzle initially, hehe!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
@@SamsTrainsgot to love used, just picked up a used lima express parcel version for 22 quid.
Looking good there Sam great work
Thank you!! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)

LaZeR JET hi

Probably the first time I have seen something "Handled roughly" on the layout.😂 Nice video Sam.
haha yeah - that bull can be very reckless at times ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Wow so elegant! Very impressing! Like all the curves gives it a retro look! Nice job GWR for making it and good video sam!
-sam
Thanks a lot mate - yeah I love the retro look of this! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Honestly Sam, this is the best model railway channel i have ever seen! you got so many locomotives i love all the trains in the videos and i can't stop watching :)
That's so kind of you - thanks very much for your comment!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
The GWR railcar was occasionally assigned to pulling one or two MK1 coaches but mostly on their and the design was a later version
Ahh okay! Nevertheless, I could do that with her one day! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I have one and really Love it. It runs quite well, but motor sounds like a bit like a coffee grinder. It will run quite well on first radius set track as well. Great video, I like seeing these older and more obscure models. :)
Thanks a lot mate - I really enjoy reviewing them too - I'll try to do some more! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
A great review, I love these quirky railcars and when first introduced in 1933 they were quite sleek for the time and were know to pull a single coach at times also. I've just bought one of these in BR green but not run it yet so I'm hoping for a smooth runner like yours.
Thanks very much Leslie - me too, they're great looking aren't they?
Thanks for watching,

Aah, that smooth running! What a sight to be seen.
Absolutely - I was amazed by how well this one ran!! :D
Thanks for watching,

Thanks for watching,

No 22 was one of the later ones with the angular body. No 22 is preserved and it's photo is on the GWR railcar Wikipedia page.
Ahh that's very cool - I'd love to see the real thing one day! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
An enjoyable and thoroughly watchable video Sam, thank you for leaving the background music off :-)
That's okay mate - thanks for watching! I only ever add back-ground music for long periods of un-cut video - you-tube viewers don't stick around for long, so you have to do everything possible to keep them!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Cool model! Some of the first rail cars in the world! Ever been to Didcot? One of the three preserved examples lives there
Thanks Ryno - yeah you're probably right, I bet there weren't many of them around during the 1930s!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Your Welcome Sam!
Ryan :)
That's a lovely machine, Sam. Well reviewed. I'd like to have one of these railcars on my layout. All the best mate :))
Thanks very much Tom - I'm really happy with this - you can't go wrong for the price!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Great review mate :) yeah I'd say all things considered it's a great model, maybe not up to the standards of the dapol one but at a distance you probably couldn't tell! Your reviews aew always fantastic sam!
Thanks so much - you're very kind!
Cheers,

Nice Review. It reminds me of the scheinenzepplin. I’d like to see some of that. It has a very interesting history and a quirky design. I’ve seen a few companies with models. Thanks
Thanks very much Patrick - ooh I'll have to look that up, thanks a lot for the comment,
Sam :)
Thanks for watching,

"oldies but goodies" we all have one and love'em, Chuck RVRR
Absolutely - you can't beat the old ones! ;D
Cheers,

Absolutely - they're very good for the money most of the time!
Thanks a lot for the comment and the info,
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Looks very nice, would love to see an lms rail car at some point!
Thanks very much mate! ooh me too - does someone make one?? :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Very unusual looking model. It must have looked pretty futuristic at the time on the railways. Oscar
Thanks Oscar - absolutely, it must have looked very unworldly to people in the 30's!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
o mate you have done it again what a lovely loco man that looks like a nother NEWZEALAND clasic the streamlined raicar
very nice thumbs up
Thanks so much mate - really glad you liked it! :D
Thanks for the support,
Sam :)
what is a "raicar" and "nother"
Very interesting little thing, looks kinda like a Coach/Diesel engine mash up.
Thank you! haha yeah it does actually - I guess that's accurate really! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
A cool locomotive and some good shots of it to
Thanks a lot mate - really glad you liked it! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
There is one of them in the national railway museum in York.
Ooh is there!??! I must have missed that, haha - I'd love to get onboard one actually! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Wow looks great it would look great with Pullman couches
Thanks Edward! That's a cool idea - I should try her with pullmans just for a laugh, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I have the hornby version and it looks very similar also some times the postal rail cars would pull a gwr goods van for extra storage but otherwise they went light cheers
That's very cool Aidan - did the Hornby one have the ring field motor in??
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Great review Sam I want to get one of these at some point
Thanks a lot David - good luck, they do turn up quite a bit at fairs and things! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
This Railcar looks amazing
Thank you! It's definitely not bad for its age! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
A good solid and reliable loco Sam, great review, considering how basic the motors are on Lima locos, they are very reliable over many years of usage....Bob
Thanks Bob, glad you liked her - i agree, they really do the job well, still after all this time!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
What to do with the Limas when motor main bearings wear out? (other than CD motor conversion) And do the commutators last forever?
Interesting train but lovely color scheme. Nice pick Sam!👍
Thanks a lot mate - glad you liked the livery, I feel the same way! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
And Sam it’s a bachmann class 42 warship in a very lovely red
Absolutely - I forgot the name on the engine though! D:
these were powered with AEC engines and were seen with either a milk tanker or a plain box van
Thanks a lot for the info on that - much appreciated mate!
Cheers,
Sam :)
This should have the high torque Super Trazione version of the Lima G motor, which has decent low speed performance. Interesting review.
Nice review. Incredible train
Thanks very much mate! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
I watched the Dapol review before this one. I was thinking that as it has couplings, your bull can be towed behind.
You were so respectful of the Dapol one, until you reviewed it. :)
haha yeah definitely - I expected it to be much better!! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Wow a lima GWR railcar. a nice one Sam
Thanks Marco - glad you liked it! :D
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
@SamsTrains Which manufacturers produced the tank cars at 10:42 and the far passenger cars (the ones with the white roofs) at 13:16 respectively?
Also, it looks like this is selling for about $70 (including shipping) on American eBay. Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Great video Sam on gwr railcar
Thanks a lot Graham, glad you enjoyed it mate!
Cheers,
Sam :)
12:46 I think the loco whose identity is GCR 11F MONS is the odd one out.
Very well spotted - that's right! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Nice model i had one a long time ago and it was a green livery .
Thanks a lot Michael - ooh I don't think I've seen a green one before - very cool! :D
Thanks for watching,

I'd love to actually - those look really good! :D

Hey Sam I bought one yesterday for £20!
Your 7 Up wagon is one of my favorites. It just makes me happy to see it. Do you have many of those?
Yes I love that one too Ray - I think I only have the one or possibly two, no idea where it came from!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
you where wondering about the steam heating?
there are watertanks under the Loco That are full of water.. then the Engine getting hot Boils the water making heat! :D
thats how that works!
She is a really nice Model!
:D
That's very interesting - I didn't know that, thanks a lot for the info! :D
Cheers,

Did the dapol model have couplings
No :(
Fizziling fireboxes! That is one extraordinary engine. :-O
Spencer Long please don't
Don't what?!
Spencer Long quote the dark age of Thomas
NO!!! |:-(
haha! ;D
I do like it i might look in to these old lima locos
Thanks Oli - they are very good as you can tell! :D
Cheers,

quite a nice engine, kinda looks like those trains you see in sweeden maybe that's were they all went?
Thanks a lot mate! Yeah it's possible - I don't really know what happened to the others! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)

Thanks a lot mate - glad you liked her! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Nice coach sam very unique
Thanks a lot - glad you liked it! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
After seeing this GWR railcar, now I want to see the class of railcar that daisy is based on in TTTE and a red hen railcar as well
haha yeah I do too - I'll have to find out which one she was based on!
Cheers,
Sam :)
These rail cars were diesel-powered, and there were also steam rail cars on the Great Western Railway.
Ahh many thanks for the info - much appreciated!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains thanks and keep the videos coming. You do a great job
That looks very nice sam!😮
Thank you! :D
Sam'sTrains very welcome😏
Hi Sam
Hornby bought Lima and other brands so thats wy they bring out with the lima name on it.
Great video btw
Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Jens Tijdeman
Thanks Jens - absolutely, plenty of Lima models still out there under the Hornby Railroad guise!
Glad you enjoyed it mate,
Sam :)
13:06 Is that the locomotive with very little in common with the railcar?
haha the 43xx?? It's still western region!! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I meant the cow. I should have said 13:09. I am very sorry and shall punish myself accordingly. ;)
was the odd one the DMU in the station or the engine in the crane siding? it looked like a D16 but there was great western on the tender, but could you review it if you didn't already?
Ooh not quite! But you're right - it was the D11 that was theodd one out! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Great video Sam
Thanks very much Sam! :D
great video. really cool loco. it was actual inspired by the autotrain system. when are you going to release the full 2017 rating list.
Thanks a lot mate - ooh that's cool, I never did that! I released it on Facebook about mid-december! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hi Sam I love this rail car also you should try n gauge of possible but it's not cheap I should know I have some
Thanks a lot Liam - I'd love to try N gauge one day!! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Brilliant like always!
Thanks a lot Marc! :D
Marc Burger hey
Norfolk & Western 611 hello!
Was the odd loco out a southern loco because I swear I saw a loco in southern green
I don't remember actually mate - but you may be right! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains ok
I like it Sam and it’s way less expensive than the D***l one ....nice review...my list of wants gets ever longer ......regards Fred ....ps is there one at Didcot
Thanks Fred - for sure, definitely way less expensive - and it still runs very nicely! :D
I'd love to see the one at didcot! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
i still wonder if this would be good for a starter locomotive
It's not bad - but I think there are better starter models! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
13:23-Is that a new purchase? A new D11. And please will do a giveaway of the Hornby's Railways locomotive? That would be awesome.
Yes it's a new one!! I'm not too sure if/when I'll do another giveaway - but that would be awesome! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hi my friend =). That railcar looks like a monorail. That's good as always Sam. I like it very much Sam. Do you want to make abandoned rail track? Cause that's gonna be cool. If you can't so it's OK.
Helloo - haha you're right, it does look like a monorail, lol! That's a great idea - I'd love to try that one day! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
I am fine if a loco is not completely detailed. The prices of highly detailed in ho is crazy. In the us flying Scotsman cost $120.00 but a mth PRR k4 costs $500.00
I agree - I'd quite happily keep buying cheaper locos with less detail - as long as they're quality, I'm sorted! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hey dude I want to get started in railway building so could you tell me if all of those Trains (hornby,Leonel legacy, etc have the same gauge sise?I’m a huge fan from Brazil
Hi Lucas - yes absolutely -every engine I review on my channel is all the same gauge! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains even bachmman?Ps:thanks a lot dude
Could u review the Cunarder please?
Ooh I'll have to look that one up - thanks for the suggestion! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains thx
Ah the magic of editing... bullman was there... then he wasn't. Great review.
haha thanks Edward! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Ooh okay mate - I'll check those out, thanks a lot for the ideas! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam, do you have the Brighton belle, if so could you show it to us please
Hi mate, no I don't have a belle actually - though I will keep an eye out for one! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
also maybe the GWR 2-6-0 maybe a GWR 4300? possibly?
Well spotted! There is another more obscure one though! ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Had one for years and now runs on DCC
Fantastic! I've seen a few run on DCC too - they seem to be just fine! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey Sam, could you please do a 'DOs and Don'ts' of a model railway. Thanks
Okay Paul - that's a good idea, I'll see what I can do! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Thanks mate!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hi Sam
For a running session can you run this same ocean wagons please?
Hi! Oh yeah I do need to run those again at some point - I'll see what I can do! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Maybe that's the engine Daisy was based off of. Correct me if I'm wrong!
It may be! I'm no expert on that though! ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
bessie Tanner H prodoctions Nah, Daisy was based on a BR era Diesel Railcar.
Where do you look for the Lima models?
Anywhere and everywhere really - Ebay and Train fairs mostly though! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
A nice railcar by Lima and Hornby for an acceptable price. The nickname of that streamlined railcar is Flying Banana.
Thanks Norbert! That's true - I found that out when I looked them up! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hey, Sam do a Express video of Mallard, Coronation Scot, City Of Bath triple header.
Ooh that'd be fun - I'll have to try that one day! :D
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
Sam just wondering does tri-ang railways track work with regular Hornby track?
Hi Tommy - a lot of it will do, except for the very early locomotives and rolling stock - which don't run as nicely! Anything after the mid-1960s should be fine! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hello Sam I was wondering what shutter I could get from Hornby any recommendations? Thanks, Ryan
lol sorry I mean shunter
I also would prefer steam but any recommendation will do
Hi Ryan, if you're looking for shunters on a budget, their Jinty models are very good (3Fs) and also their Railroad 0-4-0s are great bargains! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains thank you so much I will definitely look into that
Hey Sam, nice review. Did you get the photo I emailed you for the wall of fame? It was a green 7 1/4 gauge Narrow gauge locomotive with a wreath with santa on the smoke box taken at echills wood railway I told you about ( we're still not open so I'll tell you when we do open)
Hi mate - did you get a reply from me? I don't remember seeing that, so you may be best to send it again! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
OK will do
Very nice loco Sam........John.
Thanks John - glad you liked her!
Cheers,
Sam :)
just out of curiosity sam have you ever considered watching thomas and friends from the beginning to the current series?
Jordan Milligan yeah, what about the dark age
haha that'd be awesome - I'd need a lot of time for that though lol ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Apparently these railcard are built with an AEC diesel engine which is the same type as my grandads AEC mammoth major lorry half built in 1945 but was put on hold and was hidden away because of the war and in 1948 it was completed
Ahh really? I never knew that - that's very cool!! :D
They did something similar with the pacers and busses, lol!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
