This was an awfully convenient Top 10 video. I've been thinking of making a meme EDH deck where all the cards have CMC of exactly 7 (so I can accurately tell players I'm playing a 7), and this lost was super helpful. Thanks Nizzahon!
Etali's so broken I think, specially in reanimator decks that can get it as soon as turn 3 in standard, I feel like the front side is so much of an almost instant wincon, that the opponent never lives to see the back part 😅
Being a blightsteel colossus as a backup plan is soooo good too, even if you whiff the free spell your opponent is deal next turn unless they start giving up creatures (and even then they'll be dead quickly from poison counters)
@@cabbagedestroyer1693 how isn't it "that strong" it is literally a 3 for one in every scenario, which in a game like magic, is just bonkers crazy, and also not really fun to play against. I must say magic can be a fun and complexe game, where skill is required to outsmart your opponent. That being said, it doesn't feel very right when someone only wins because they chose to include a broken card in their deck... (like etali, elesh, obliterator, sheoldred, taraxa, etc..) I know these cards don't usualy make it to the top 8, but it is a fact that they have a very BIG impact on the board, like almost instant win if you don't have a removal. To me this type of effect (1 card=win unless removal) is quiet broken, because it juste makes magic less about thinking and more about owning the good card... Imagine a standard meta where everybody played the same deck in a pro tour because this exact fenomenon that I said happened. Players obligated to play certain cards, because they're broken, and the rest doesn't compete. Oh wait ! @@SpitefulAZ nah, they brought it back to the Core Set for a year and it sees no play. I doubt it will see any play in the few weeks before the Core Set changes and Boom is out.

I believe Etali is also seeing play in legacy in Mississippi River decks alongside fellow dinosaur Trumpeting Carnosaur, curious how many points it will accumulate the next time we see it on a list
It's interesting to me how some categories are dominated by old, broken card designs that have been reeled in with current designs (mostly noncreatures, I think) while creature categories (especially larger ones) are dominated by more recent card designs with pushed stats and effects because big cards with sacrifice four lands to do literally anything are unplayable and big dumb creatures with value-stuffed effects at worst make reanimator better if not being outright castable.
Magic was always about doing broken things, cheap. That is how you gain an advantage. Creatures need a huge upside in value, usually etb effects, because they usually get killed before they get to do anything. I hate today's magic. It is all about the money cards.
I was hoping for an honorable mention of Grislebrand, what score he has, and where it would have placed him, had he been a 7 mana creature... Damn Wizard, how could you make a 7/7 Creature with pay 7 life ability, and then make it cost 8?!
For some reason I thought that #1 was obviously going to be Griselbrand. Well known for costing 7 mana. I wonder if Griselbrand would make it onto "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)"!
@@TheGloriousLobsterEmperor It would have been lovely, but I understand the need for balance (balancing a bit, at least). Maybe, the cost could have been 7 mana all black (BBBBBBB), therefore forcing a strong restriction upon casting (BUT pushing a legacy mono-black devotion to the sky)
Oh, another easy one, Atraxa, and the other 9. Edit: Two things, Griselbrand should have been a 7 drop, still a massive flavor fail it wasn't, and second, surprise surprise, the card seeing play in every format is number one, who would have guessed :^)
@@SpitefulAZAre you saying that you think, because he stumbled over _one word,_ that’s an indication that he no longer feels passionate about the channel? Because he mispronounced a word?
@@Crunchatize_Me_Senpai yeah. He's got a consistent style that I'm sure he can allow himself off-days but still get it done occasionally, but making over 700 vids is no mean feat even though it looks relatively simple.
I would be really interested in a top ten statlines or something like that. Like (on average) do 2/1s have more points than 1/1s? Do 3/4s really beat out 3/3s, or are 3/3s usually more playable?
Yep, it not only mostly invalidates any other res target, but in Commander it's a big thing you can ramp to and use as the general of your deck, recasting it over and over again and so filling your hand every time. I already auto-concede to it in Arena's (Historic) Brawl, but I suspect it's also annoying in proper Commander, as she basically fills all the big Commander checkmarks (though if anybody has played against her in Commander, I would gladly hear your experience, no matter if it counters or supports my point).
Man I kinda hope they ban Atraxa in standard...it's not even that she's too powerful. It's just that she almost invalidates all other 7 mana creatures in the current format. Why bother reanimating anything else? Sure sometimes Titan or Toxrill are better in this exact situation, but Atraxa is better on average in nearly every situation.

I think you did this 70 episodes too early.
Maybe we get another one then. I doubt the list will change at all, but it'd still be neat
Today should've been 7 mana 0/7s. Not sure there's any worth mentioning, though. Edit: there's a total of 0 cards matching all these criteria

It doesn't have nearly the potency of the ones on the list, but as a super-casual player I have a soft sport for Pelakka Wurm.

If it's damage it can. But if you decide to pay life with it in play, that's your problem.
Loss of life isn't damage, so your opponent can still drain you out, but damage is stopped.
