would be sick to see a carian sword sorcery special with slicer, peircer and greatsword all in one in place of the usual melee weapon
You read my mind. I was JUST searching to see if someone had a good video up before Chase dropped this. I second the Carian spellblade showcase!
Elden ring and souls game just need to adopt a hotkey method in controller for spells. The cycling on the up directional key during combat is just so out dated. It’s really annoying that they couldn’t think of a better way to use spells in 2022

@@stu.chainz forgive me if the idea is stupid but maybe a selection wheel like it has in some games. Like, press a button and use the camera direcional to choose the speel.

@@eligreg99 well on his streams he said that dualshock 4 is his fav controler, also i said iirc (if i remember corectly) which also means that i am not 100% sure, and when i was playing Elden ring on M&K it took me quite a while to find out thar you can change the buttons from xbox ones (default on pc) to keyboard keys... So i am not rly lying
@@eligreg99 I think it’s because the program he uses to use the DualShock “converts” the inputs into Xbox controller inputs. It’s what happens with mine

I recommend a build that also uses pure melee spells. Haima’s Gavel, Carian Sword, Carian Piercer, Carian Slicer, etc.
Pretty meh weapon without much to distinguish it mechanically, but it looks very stylish. I love how all the carian weapons have glintstone embedded in them.
Of course it levels better with Dex, because Troll's are known for their incredible dexterity, as opposed to their brute strength. Good one FromSoft.
The scaling values for both strength and dexterity are identical, and they are troll *knights* after all. I would imagine them to be more dexterous than their more common kin.
@@sirgideonofnirtheall-knowi1881 i went off on Chase's comment that dex scaled better than str, but if what you are saying is true then no comment.
It gets tiring to have not many good str scaling only weapons, always a mix of str with int or dex.
Love this weapon. Always loved STR/INT builds in all DS games and glad i got so many.
Never tried that combo, always went Str-Fth, but I may try this and the Royal Greatsword soon!
@@ianwilliams2632 You can get some pretty insane AR with the RG on a dedicated str/int build. It has super high AR and its weapon art is extremely damaging.
@@monstasoul3542 Thanks. Not generally a UGS user though, prefer fluid and flowing movement. Biggest weapons I'll generally use are greatswords with the hollowslayer moveset.
@@ianwilliams2632 Yeah. If you don't like it the alabaster lord sword or onyx lord curved greatswords are great options as well. Or you could just go with a Banished knight sword and have any magic ash of war, since it has the flowing moveset.

All of the Carian weapons look so damn good. It's a shame most of them are kinda mediocre.
I do really like that the troll knight gets the stab heavy, I do always love some heavy stabs!
Maybe'll give it a try whenever I get around to it! Luckily I happen to already like Troll Roar.
It may not be a 'good' AoW but it is a very fun one. I think the Roar medallion also buffs it.

I'm pretty happy with it too! Funny coincidence : I used the troll's roar on an other character so i recognize that animation =D
It might means that if I want to beat Chase I need to learn each and every animation of this game. I'm off for the next week. (That what I would have said if I was "too much" in the competitive mindset)

I feel like his tier list would be one of the most accurate and least biased, dude is so chill about anything being thrown at him and you already know he knows pretty much everything about the weapons and skills at this point

When I first picked up this weapon, I was trolled by how mediocre it was
you can use WA with about half the normal FP, you can tell by the WA listed is crossed out or not
with the showcases you could do pretty unique spell or incantation showcases like beast, blood, dragon, and all those. with sorceries you have carian, glintstone, death, etc.

Do you think you'd do a Faith Flame/Holy build for one of these showcases?
I can't speak for Holy, but (50 FTH) Flame in my experience usually nets higher AR than (55 STR) Fire on almost every weapon I've tried.
I know you get access to less Ashes of War this way, but it would make some of the Holy damage ones do more damage.
If you want flame art scaling, you get access to all the heavy, keen, quality, and fire ashes of war. Just get the Iron whetblade and the Red-hot whetblade
@@ymanexpress you're right I forgot that all Magic-type Infusions can also be applied with Heavy, Keen, and Quality Ashes of War!

This was my main for most of first playthrough, even if it’s not too popular. Also beat last bosses with it, despite moving onto some heavier stuff with projectile specials.
Troll’s roar is actually underrated, I feel. Wrecks some enemies well.
Chase I've been meaning to ask you this for a long time now, but how do you setup so efficiently for PvP like, all the weapon upgrading and leveling up, just curious cause I'm getting into Pvp now cause of you.

Trolls roar has a follow-up! It starts up super slow but the attack itself is very fast and damaging.
Try the Dragon Halberd! It does lighting AND Frost plus the ash of war is a buff AND adds a double spin to the heavy attack. Most def got to check it out

If you don't know if you have enough FP for a weapon art, look at the name above the hot select on the left.
If you have enough FP it will look normal, if you don't it will have a yellow X sign on it.

It's honestly really versatile, the roar helps with ganks, cc and poise Dam, it has roll catch, as crouch poke and run r1. The biggest issue is that it scales with dex with str and som int. And the slowness of AOW

Do you need to have visited a dungeon in order to invade in them or can you just invade in dungeons that belong to areas you've visited? I've gotten maybe 3 dungeon invasions total since the update but since this character is quite old I don't know whether I ever visited those dungeons before.
Link reminds me an anime character where the protagonist fights many times the strongest enemy, but loses everytime. But in every incounter we see the progression.
I wonder if you mind to make a video with Link where you could spare with him or themed ganks.
Fighting Chase during invasions must be terrifying. There you are, with the goon squad, all confident because it's 1 v 3 or something and then you and your buds just get dismantled.

Can you do the Fallingstar Beast Jaw, it was my favorite weapon to use in PvP and I want to see what someone good at the game can do with it.
If you lack the FP for an ash of war, the ash's name on the left side of the screen will be greyed out/crossed out. So when you said you didnt think you had enough for one more troll roar, you actually did. Little tip for everyone.
I always wished that some weapons like carian knight sword or lorettas spear thing would be able to cast sorceries loke loretta does...
i just know Link is thrashing everyone else in the dueling arena
Wondering if wearing the Highland Axe in the off-hand for the extra roar damage would be worth the extra points in endurance. Probably not.
I used it on my muscle mage, and man, was I let down. If youre looking to actually use an UGS with mostly int stats, the zweihander is the superior choice. It is lighter, has less requirements, more easily accessible, and you can swap to weapon art. It will also have a more respectable AR if you use magic infusion on it. What i ended up after maxing out both TKS and Zwei is I put trolls roar on the Zwei. Never looked back.
Have you tried any other AoW on a Magic Zwei? Which ones have you found worked?
@@AR-bj5et i just wanted to use trolls roar for the massive poise damage in pve, and for pvp its very good around walls and corners or as a surprise for gankers. You might find success in giant hunt, war cry/battle cry, or quickstep/bhs. Colossal swords are honestly kind of shitty for pvp. Inb4 huurrr but the poke yes but if that one move is literally the only thing that makes a weapon good than its by all means a shit weapon.
@@sturmmagnunstein1008 I'm mostly PvE anyway so I'll take your word on Troll's Roar. just looking for any excuse to use the Zwei, might be on the plain side but to me it looks awesome so I really want to justify using it.
@@AR-bj5et just dont use the r1. Garbage start up and recovery even after the buff. R2 and the crouch poke are good though.

Well, I have a new favorite weapen - the Troll Knight's Sword :)
First I went to wait for Recusant Henricus and beat him during a second try and did the same with Anastasia "Tarnished-eater" back to where she came from, and I used this sword. And I beat the Tree Sentinel (right at the "beginning" of the game) with it.
Now THIS way, Elden Ring is fun. 🙂

You can tell if you're out of juice for your AoW by looking at the AoW name and if it's slightly faded with a diagonal line though it, you don't have enough juice. Excellent demonstration once more!

I’ve played a a decent amount of pvp in this game, and I’m sorry to say but I’ve never once used a slash and angled it to hit multiple opponents. I am always happy to hear that it’s an option though
highland axe also boosts roars. lov roars
I've been going hard on pure incantation casters and honestly there's some pretty good potential that comes from Black Flame Ritual. It obscures you, and gives you space! So if you Black Flame Ritual, and your opponent backs off, you can throw out dragon breath - probably one of the hardest to dodge long range spells in the game. If you're "morally opposed" to dragon breath, throw out Elden Stars or Flame of the Fell God to initiate pressure.
But if they call your bluff with Black Flame Ritual, you can throw out Wrath of Gold or any other quick, melee range incantation instead because they probably can't see you very well. Greyoll's Roar also works well for this, and Greyoll's Roar is also a mixup for Agheel's Flame breath because the heads look the same on startup.
But yeah Black Flame Ritual is an absolute must-have, bread and butter incantation that every pure faith build should have on top of Beastial Sling and Catch Flame.
The reason why I Love this thing cuz I'm Lazy doing Ranni quest to get the moonlight greatsword so I instead use this thing and this weapon looks more cool to be honest

Would’ve been awesome if the follow up to the phalanx was unique, like if it was the sword-drag to slam down like the trolls do instead of the thrust.

I've never used this one. The scaling is kind of awkward and hard to work into a build. I guess if you just had a bunch of cold affinity quality weapons you'd have a few other things to use. Could be fun.

Unless you want a high level Quality/int build, a magic zweihander will fill the need for an ultra much more efficiently.
