    A few days ago, Firebase quietly released passwordless auth, but this is actually a really awesome feature. As an end-user of apps I much prefer this sign-in flow over trying to remember another password.

    1. how can we add logout function as the signout button is not working?
    2. if we make entries in database of several emails and want only those email to get mail when sign in. How can we implement it

    Is there any technique to handle nested json object with reactive forms in angular5 like earlier we used to do for angular Js object ?
    Ex. Object.Property.firstName,object.Property.LastName in angular5 ?

    Thanks! Is there a way to store that link and retrieve it from the database instead of sending an email?

      I don't think so. It could be a security issue because somebody could hijack a session if they knew the associated email. Kinda like storing an unencrypted password in your DB.

    Question. I followed the video and get the following error from Firebase, any ideas? "handleCodeInApp must be true when sending sign in link to email"

    • @ksummersill
      @ksummersill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If figured it out. If you look at the documentation here: firebase.google.com/docs/auth/web/email-link-auth it states that you have to add some additional actionCodeSettings. I updated my sendEmailLink() with const actionCodeSettings = {
      url: 'localhost:4568',
      handleCodeInApp: true
      };
      The handleCodeInApp:true needed to be set. Then all worked

    Hi,
    What is the theme you are using on vs code ?

      Atom-one-dark + VsCodeIcons

    is this method works for mobile apps with ionic ?

    • @Fireship

      It is supported in iOS and android, so it could potentially work in Ionic. You would have to use Dynamic Links. I plan on experimenting with this in the near future.

    Very nice video, as usual! However, I'm not a big fan of this technique. It might be easy to hack if badly implemented and quite cumbersome for users going back and forth between app and email. But hey! It's cool to have the option to try it!

      Thank you. I could see both sides, especially if your app is accessed on many devices. OAuth is still the best option IMO.

    So when the user gets prompted for his email, if he gives someone else's valid email then he gets logged in as someone else. Seems like a huge security flaw.

      he wouldn't have that persons email account so firebase wouldn't send the signin link to him... that link contains a OTP that's checked at log-in so...

    I got it, just watching your video, the error was that I did not understand about the url, until I see your video and understand that I should just inform the url, where I should go after logged in, in my case "http: // localhost: 300 / home"
    Thanks!
