Us locals are so lucky to have such a thorough explanation of new bike paths and projects!

Its not just Brisbane niche, its South of the River Brisbane niche. ;-) Thanks for the update, Chris.

I ride this path from Darra through Edenbrook connection and Rocks Riverside at least once a month since a buddy of mine moved in at Jindalee. I love that they kept the cycle path open under the temporary buildings which I think should be standard but it a step in the right direction considering how car centric Bris is!
Will the whole path be 5m and modal separated? It seems to get more narrow near the lights and I can’t imagine they make it wider after the fact.

Location specific progress reports/updates are pretty tricky for an outside audience, but you've done a good job👏

Yeah, I'm a loser so I sometimes get interested in local updates in other cities around the world - so I assume there's other losers like me out there ;-) lol

I just wish there was a way to get to the Centenary Bikeway from Brookfield. The roads are a deathtrap of RAM & F250 horse-haulers with no street lamps and not even a nature strip to ride a mountain bike on. There's also nowhere to park in Kenmore/Chapel Hill near the Centenary Bikeway. Kenmore itself isn't much better, with narrow roads that have been widened to the point that there's no bike lanes, nowhere to put them, and such narrow footpaths that cars pulling out of driveways would never see you. The entire west side north of the river is either too dense or (west of Kenmore) too sparse for bike infrastructure.

I hear you. We've been pushing for so many years for a cycling corridor parallel with Moggill Road. There's the semblance of a plan starting for that, but progress is typically Australian (that is: glacially slow).
Some people park at Cubberla Reserve and ride from there - just hope there's not a big afternoon downpour that floods the carpark!

I rode along this new alignment for the first time on Saturday. I was impressed. Looks like the bike path will be completed well before the new bridge.

Yep, out of necessity really. They need to build the bridge and the adjoining road right where the old bike path is. So it's easier for them to get it rebuilt away from the project site as early as possible.
I certainly won't miss having to stop for a few minutes almost every time I rode to the shops to let a truck cross the bike path.

Thanks for the update, Chris. Do you know of any possible improvements further down the track at the Dandenong-Rd crossing at Mt Ommaney? That crossing can be very dangerous.

Thanks Peter. No news at this stage. The Centenary Motorway Corridor Master Plan is due to be released which will show concepts for upgrades in other sections of the corridor, like Dandenong road. Definitely agree it needs to be better. Multi-lane roundabouts with bikeway crossings are shocking.
