I really like your new, longer, meatier reviews. :) Excellent job guys!
Duuude thank you soo much for uploading it.
Wish it was longer :p ( guess i was looking forward too it too much ) i think you covered alot of the stuff you mention in this video in the Basic rule book video you did back in the day.
I love this show man. keep it up
Thx for a really good review.... I've been playing Masquerade for a number of years and dived into the Requiem pretty fast an I just love it... Great review....
You guys rock. As a budding GM, I really appreciate these reviews.
Requiem is a different game from Masquerade, not a new edition. There are too many fundamental differences between the two.
This is especially evident given that we've now got the 20th anniversary of Masquerade out, and the upcoming new edition of Requiem.
I'm currently playing a Mekhet Lancea Sanctum priest. I'm having so much fun withit too. Villains are always so much more fun to play xD
What you may be thinking about are roleplay gamebooks, where you role a dice from time to time and turn to different pages depending on your choice or the roll of the dice. It's for one person only.
This is the original kind of RPGs: RPG that requires one person to "control" the game and two or more players who "play". It revolves around storytelling and describing, with some dice rolling, mainly in battle and to see if something complicated the player is trying to do is a success or fail.
Thanks, Kurt!
Like cobbil, I would have appreciated a little more elaboration on what makes VtRequiem different from VtMasquerade, and what makes Requiem more than just a reboot of the world.
Also, a nitpick: Cain's murder was the *second* sin; Adam and Eve disobeying God resulted in their getting thrown out of Eden and having to work for a living, grow old and die, etc. Kind of significant, if you ask me. :)
there are malkavians in VtR but they are called malkovians and are a bloodline descended from the Ventrue clan. I don't know too much about it but I know they start off with at least one derangment and have auspex, obfuscate, dominate, and resilliance as powers. also some kindred can get a disease with turns them into malkavians instead of being a malkovian bloodline member. It gives you one derangment in exchange for being able to use dementation.
you're welcome, just glad to help
I see, thxs for the information !
Just tried Call of Cthulhu for te first time!! Awesome game, thanks for the review.
I got into Masquerade acouple of years ago, and was iffy on trying out Requiem.
After this review, I'm going to look into it more, but I do wish you could of elaborated abit more on what exactly is different, besides clans and some disciplines.
It's the same basic concept between VtR and VtM. A lot of Serial Numbers got filed off and Re-written, but it's basically the same.
It's a table-top role-playing game, like Dungeons and Dragons. You use character sheets and roll dice with a bunch of friends sitting around a table. There are usually snacks involved. :3
THANKS
Darn good system I think!
Say, are you familiar with the Fantasy Flight game Fireborn? I thought that that had an interesting concept, and a unique system as well as the addition of an idea I would have loved to see in other games: flashbacks.
Probably Ventrue
i don't know the series, but from what i can understrand of him from wikipedia, he's definately a ventrue
@Shino2488 No. Its a role playing game like the table top Dungeons and Dragons, although you don't have figurines. You do roll dice to determine various actions, but most of the game is based on imagination. When it says "Story Telling" it means your forming an adventure around your characters.
Great as always. Still requesting Warhammer Fantasy.
Kurt, please review Hunter: The Vigil.
You and your producer have done a good number of books for the World of Darkness, books that can easily translate into a chronicle for Hunter given the right mood and setting.
Again, please review Hunter: The Vigil.
I'd like to see a BRP review or a Mongoose Traveller review.
Kurt, as it has been requested....
Would you kindly review Hunter: the Vigil? Those Role-Players not informed about it must know of it's awesomeness.
I admit I got a different vibe from the New World of Darkness. The way one friend described Vampire was Goth-Noir the was old Vampire was Goth-Punk.
@shrektheterd It actually has Malkavians, they're included in the Ventrue clanbook.
@malektsepesh .. Yeah they should adapt this into a video game, it has lots of good stories.
Is that the art from the rulebook you were holding? I hear the art went a bit cartoony at done point?
i read requiem, and nowi wish i could find ppl to game with (or teach me to be a better gamer with this -_- i sucked last time i tried to play it, but then again, that was before i finished the book...) i think it sounds fun...I'd like to try storytelling too.
Oo 1 more thing Curt. i know you dig the mortals line atm. have you seen/checked out WOD: Innocents yet? im looking to mayby get that.
Hey, I'm a recent buyer of these games and have been playing then a little though I'm having trouble finding a good niche of others who enjoy WoD. Any tips on the best way to get a group started for this?
@kimthun You need the World of Darkness book.
how do you play at this game ? what is the use of the book ? (I'm so used to the Monopoly ^^ I can't guess how to play at this ^^)
Please review "Numenera" by Monte Cooke!
Hi I'm about to start with this just don't know what i should buy except this book can someone help me please? I would really like it. Sorry but i have never played any role playing game before of this kind.
when are the Review of forsaken coming out and I like to see a Review on apocalypse to
Go Invictus!
That could be the most "Ho Hum" review I've seen Kurt do...
@MardLestat What do you mean by rape on the system? Are you saying its better or worse? And how is it better or worse. And also the new factions (sects) you should also comment on them as well.
@TuringMech Nah, I already had Bloodlines. I was looking for the sequel. :P
what vampires shud i go to make kurt barlow from Salem's Lot lol
Heh "What's the D stand for - I'll never tell."
Nice.
Tzimisce r the best!
They broke my heart man Ill never forgive them
I've been searching for the videogame called "Vampire: The Requiem". You can see why I feel retarded.
@drakekerry Which is a shame because theres alot to go into, and Kurt just sort of blah blahed most of it without going into to much detail,, he didn't even mention the sects at all.
Reqreum killed the WOD cannon
is this a pc game or WTF is going on?
never hurd of it... thers no gameplayvid of this game so i guss its been canceld right? to bad, im a big fan of the Bloodlines.
Vampire: The Requiem I felt was more of an attempt to get a new line of Vampire: The Masquerade fans to get on the wagon again. I Believe that the new bloodlines ,names for the clans, and their relation with each other. It was a pure rape on the system and the foundation of Vampire:The Masquerade .(Like the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). They should have focused on reprinting the old Books because there people out their ripping their eye´s of for the old clan books.
@TheUnbeholden I mean they had a beautiful thing going on, but they raped it by replacing it with some placebo money milking thing called new WoD" Vampire the Requiem" the whole concept is now really so less joyful to read to play. I really Adored the Old World of Darkness Vampire the Masquerade, Mage, Werewolf.. and so on. No fence but that my opinion, that I thought they would make something much better out of the vampires. Any how Its all down to the GM to represent the world any how.
They are identical in almost every respect, but Maquerade is clearly better.
