    I never hilight books, I am too attached to keeping them perfect, I like writing quotes down on paper with the page and chapter so it's easier instead of ruining the book

    • @natayala3635
      @natayala3635 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could try underlining with pencils lightly and then erase

    • @gandalfwhite4803
      @gandalfwhite4803 ปีที่แล้ว

      ITS not ruining, lol, highligting striking lines looks cool on most books

    so its called quote analysis.. iv been trying to figure out how and what this type of studying is called. I do this when i read for fun. i just never knew what it was called. When i read long stories, i like to write down what is going on in the story at that time. Even write down all the people involved at that time also the locations, places, ect. I do this, if there are more than one book within the series. Is that call the same thing? quote analysis? or is it a different method or term?

    • @humblekingwholovescats
      @humblekingwholovescats 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know what the term is but I do this with my books for school before the year starts. It's very helpful to summarise the chapters and write down locations, themes and feelings so that if you don't have time to read the chapter one week you have a really good idea of what you're meant to be focusing on.

But now I'm about to take my A-levels and have to study actually a lot but sometimes I "don't find the time" or I just can't motivate myself or don't know how to study or learn so much by heart :( have you got any tips for me? :( x

    Wow this is such an organised system. Do you buy your own book for English? Our teacher gives us our books but we have to give them back so we're not allowed to write on them 😔 We're currently studying 'Of Mice and Men' ☺

      Omg we were doing of mice and men last year! Cant you buy your own book so you can write anything in it? Instead of giving it back to her, you can have it all year and also keep your notes in. That's what I did. And when my brother takes the class next year, I can give him my book to help him a bit (he's a bit lazy with school work)

    I think you used the Dutch door method, but this system is almost familiar. If you are reading the book for class you borrowed, then the best idea is to create annotations version for tracking. Whereas, it will be easier refer back to the chapter without searching for a certain diction in the chapter. Overall, this is so helpful and I love this idea when you had to refer back. The Dutch door method I mention, was in Haley Cairo's video but there is two ways of using the Dutch door method.

    • @studyign

    Hello! I ADORE your videos. Yesterday, I literally watched one video and subscribed and then watched 6 other ones. I'm looking for a method to use to keep track of vocabulary while I'm reading. I hate having to search up the word after every single word I find I don't know. I also hate writing down all of the words and looking them up after reading. Do you have a system you use when learning new vocab while reading? I would really love to know.

    Nice video on taking notes for novels. I really liked your notes taking methods videos , there are some really useful tips for note-taking.
    I hate scrawling details on the books itself , it takes attention away from the plot , the content , so I write down my analysis somewhere else too , though, looking at my very neat and clean novels , my literature teacher thought I was slacking , til I brought out a thick notebook that has notes written down corresponding to the numbered sticky tape attached to pages of the novels. Ahaha. Literature , I love but did not pursue.

    I also highlight every time a key motif appears, because some books need me to be specific on repeated moments. So for instance, everytime a characteristic of melodrama of tragedy appeared, I would tag it with a yellow flag post it, and then I could see which chapters were dense with this specific motif or which characters displayed more of the characteristics. I also use it for literal motifs, so when I was doing A Streetcar Named Desire paper came up a lot, so I would tag that with a blue post it or something. Idk if that's useful for anyone tho erm

      The person above gave good advice. But if you want to do it like sareena, instead of highlighting the quotes you can lighlty circle them in pencil (so then when its time to return the book you can erase the pencil marks; even if you don't the next student will either erase it or use the quotes for their own assignments lol).

    This video is very helpful If you buy your books. I am a college girl and I am studying Humanites, and because of that I have to read many many books, novels, essays and papers - I think 50-70 per semester. That is a lot to buy, so of course I visit library very often. But your fun method to take notes is not able to do with books from library. By the way I have many finals in May and June and it is impossible to read and study 70 books and go to the oral exam well-preparated. Sooo... what is your method for this problem?I love your videos, it is very fun and helpful ;)
