Heather's voice isa much better match for his range...but they sound good together
I agree that her voice complements his, but I personally think she was getting a little to showy and overpowering for the gentle duet the song calls for. I don't like my when was getting crazy and sings over the person they are singing with. I may just be me, but my brain findings it too much confusion for me to enjoy fully.

They both have incredibly powerful voices and in such an emotional song it’s hard to not just let completely loose. If Mary J just toned it down maybe 10% I think the song would be perfect but it is still very very good
