I wish I had a grandma like this and my mom had anything to do with my kids seeing that they're the only grandchildren. Well, too late now they're teenagers and already going through highschool. However, I have learned everything what not to do from her. All that was never there is now there for my kids. I am the mother and father my parents weren't and will be the grandparent no one was to me. I would never continue my families tradition of no family values. These lovely lady's are So lucky to have each other. They are both so sweet and cute
If I had lived near to you I would like to have been an adopted Grandma to your family. My children and now my grandchildren mean the world to me. I am so pleased that you have such a positive outlook for your children. Keep looking forward, not backwards.
Jackie , I completely understand. I was lucky enough to have grandmothers who loved to cook and taught me alot. But, there was abuse at home and other issues. When I was about 14 sitting in church , the lesson was about generational curses and how they pass down and how things children see and learn pass on to their children. I swore I would break those cycles of abuse with my children. I believed in discipline but, there are other forms of discipline also. Taking toys or games away. Restriction, writing an essay about how what they did was wrong or disrespectful and the circumstances it could lead to. Sometimes sentences were written. I am raising a grandson now and he absolutely cant stand writing sentences. There were a few times I spanked my kids butts also. I was a single mom and my kids are grown now. Jackie, I will keep you in my prayers and it sounds like you are doing a fantastic job.

Hi this is my first time seeing your video. My name is Kara and I just love ya'll already! You, your granddaughter, your dish, and the home feel that your channel gives, it's a warm feeling. Makes you feel loved and like your at home, like when I was a child. And your granddaughter is so adorable! I like the innocence of a child. It was so precious those little fingers and everything she did was beautiful because seeing a child is the most closest thing to the Lord. We all could learn from children. They teach us love, togetherness, adventure, fun, play, no worries. Their minds are so pure and NOT contaminated by the world, like some adults due to the hardships of life, we can learn from children, patience and love. I hope she stays wondrous and curious as she is, she will do great things! So don't listen to anyone, let kids be kids because when we restrict them then they cannot grow and flourish into what they were born to do. Keep it up and stay encouraged! I love you already and I will watch more of your videos! Thank you and also I just subscribed and I hit the notification bell and I thumbs up. Because you are doing great for us, and teaching us! Thank you!!!
What I did I followed the recipe, and the steps to a T. I also added sauteed fresh sliced mushrooms, and onions. Then baked according to the directions as indicated. You served yours with mashed potatoes, I served mine with garlic, and herb butter noodles 🍜. Delicious 😋!
Ha ha ha! This was hysterical! You have to show her this video when she gets older! LMAO! Poor Man's Steak sprinkled with granddaughter kisses! Adorable!
I love those little fingers in there. What does it matter . It’s all in the family. The 2 of U R just precious. My daughter passed away when she was 29. Oh how I wish I had those fingers in everything again. Looks so delish. 😘
@Janet...i also lost a daughter in 1988. She was 2 yrs old. I know its a very painful loss. My prayers are with you. Most importantly may God comfort you. Now i have little granddaughters who fill my heart with joy until i join my daughter. I pray for those who have to endure that kind of loss. God bless you.
So awesome! I love the camera angle because it feels like being in the kitchen with MY Nana. Thank you for cooking with your grandbabies. This is such an important part of being a kid, imho. =)
Well to be fair she did it when Grandma wasn't looking! Lol. When I look back at how I used to play with frogs and not wash my hands, and then eat a sandwich, it's amazing I'm alive! 😱 I also never got sick as a child and never broke a bone. Small amounts of exposure to microorganisms is how we build strong and healthy immune systems. The exposure is not large enough to kill us or even make us sick, but it's just enough for us to build up antibodies and resistance. A great example today is that most people with European ancestry are immune to the pathogen that caused the black plague. It went around in Vietnam during the Vietnam war, and the Vietnamese and African-American soldiers who caught it all died. The European American soldiers just got sick and recovered.
I have to say. Little girl is such a precious precious child she reminds me of my girl when she was the same age mine is now 24 but that white blonde curly hair just I'm so glad that this still happens children connecting with their grandparents awesome to see thank you and I will finish watching this now cuz it looks great love from Canada🇨🇦❤🇺🇸🙏
Country ppl have a stronger immune system. We aren't afraid of germs. Therefore, our bodies can handle more of them. Expose your kids to more. Let them play in the dirt, and be kids.
Oh what I wouldn't give to be in the kitchen with my Gram again. 😢 Everything I know about cooking/baking I learned from her. And yes...I licked my fingers and the spoon and the bowl. Lol! Enjoy your kitchen time Nana!💖 Stay sweet Little Lady and cherish these memories with your Nana!💖
So nice to see grand daughter having fun with Gran in the kitchen. Well done you did very well helping your gran. This looks delicious can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing. God bless those hands
I haven't had a meal like that in years. I'm going straight to the grocery store and by everything to make that. I'll probably put onions and red bell pepper in mine. Great recipe you great Cooks
You're grandbaby is flat out adorable. Don't mind the Germ police. I grew up being taught to sample what I cook, I mean how is anyone to know what's missin' etc? I have always sampled a pinch of ground beef whether it's for meatloaf, burgers, chili, spaghetti, etc.
Thank you. I don't mind the germ police at all. They are going to always voice their concerns. I just trash their comments and block them from the channel. Thank you Tracy.
Love the way you talk to her, telling her what you're doing, asking her questions, saying please and thank you! She's doing a great job of answering you back and speaking grammatically correct:) It's so important to talk to kids about everyday things.
OMG that little one is sooo cute! I love the way she kept hitting her hand when you turned around and might catch her putting her finger into the meat! What a little doll she is. You should have her on all the time!
Delicious recipe😋 I was just scrolling through TH-cam and clicked on your video. 😊 Your granddaughter is adorable ❤️ I could not stop laughing.🤫🤭🤗 Those are memories to be treasured for a lifetime. God bless you and your household.
Salisbury steak has onion and celery bits inside and is served with a dark brown beef/mushroom gravy, also does not use flour. Amish steak is unique in the fact that it uses a large amount of bread fillers, is then floured and uses a cream based gravy.
You are a good grandma your grandchild is adorable my granddaughter is a yam adult I never had the pleasure of cooking with her maybe a great grandchild one day. God willing
Your little grand daughter is adorable and will be a great cook like grandma. Please teach her not to lick raw meat for the sake of HER health. She will understand. Thanks for the recipe.
@@LittleVillageHomestead Please caution the dangers of eating raw meat to your grandchild😵. You weren't aware at the time that she was doing it because your back was turned but when you found out you seemed more concerned about her putting germs on the spatula lol! 🤔 I'm sure you know by now. She is absolutely adorable tho. 😄 Great video. 👍
Yeah, seems like a bad idea, but really folks. A sneak bite won’t hurt her unless it was setting on a contaminated surface. My husband and sons eat steak and hamburgers so rare that it is setting on their plate in a puddle of blood. They call it “juice.” When we go to a restaurant, I put a menu upright between them and me so I don’t have to watch. Cold raw beef vs bloody warm beef...... I would go for the cold raw beef if I were gonna “go.” But..... no way.
Oh did this take me back I did everything with my grandma I lived with her because my Mother worked alot and my brother lived there also so he was wiith my Grandpa and it was sooooooooooo fun!!! They lived in the country and they had a farm and orange trees and they had a garden and we would milk the cow and Grandma and I would take the cream off the top and put it in a mason jar and shake and shake it till it turned to butter and it was the best you ever had!!! And fresh vegies to cook and they were so big and tasted so good we loved it there!!!!! So your cute little girl of yours there will have good memorys there!!!
This is how I grew up eating. I remember yearning for the crunch of a fresh fruit or vegetable, but the appeal of meat and potato in a rich salty gravy is unmistakable.
You ladies out did your selves, bravo👏. Thank you for having us over. I can see some garlic bread and a salad and a tall glass of ice tea, would go great with this. Yum yum.😊💝
Not to troll, but please be careful about e.coli bacteria on raw meat. It doesn't take much to cause an e.coli infection, especially with young and elderly. I noticed she touched the raw meat (that is not a problem) and then later licked her finger. Just a precaution.
@@LittleVillageHomestead A friend and I were discussing this just this weekend. I work on a ranch, and I am exposed daily to e.coli from cattle. We used to have a more rural agrarian lifestyle, and EVERYONE was exposed to it, and i believe we built up a resistance. Nowadays, however, that is not the case in many communities. Oh, and btw. That dish looked delicious coming out the oven, though I think I will use cream of mushroom soup with some added mushrooms (I like mushrooms, LOL). Thank you so much for posting the video!
I cook this often although I am not Amish. My family loves it with peppers and green onions. I love the way your guest of honor Granddaughter was helping out. Start them out young. She is just a cutie pie.
This recipe reminds me of my Mom’s cube steak from when I was a kid. (‘Cept, my Mom used cream of mushroom soup. I liked that.) Yummy. I bet your kitchen smells good.
I hope you had a sit down with your granddaughter after you shot this video to explain to her what is safe to lick & what isn't...lol. I screamed nooooooo when she was licking raw meat fingers. lol I know she wants to taste all the yummy things being made, but we've got to be safe first. You're doing a great job teaching her how wonderful & rewarding homemade cooking can be. Keep up the great work nana.
She will never forget cooking with you, it is a very special time that will last forever. Thank you for being a great Nana. I miss mine so much and the things she taught us, sure Mom taught us too, but the Grand connection is so very dear. And I ate raw everything as a kid including seal, venison, elk, eggs, and milk even and grandparents. It was called everyday life in the rural areas. Travelled the world and saw much of the world eats stuff americans would cringe at. Came home and see Americans panicking over everything that doesn’t come sterilized in a bag. I am weird though, I wouldn’t trust store bought meat or eggs or dairy for anything.
I learned from watching my mother, then helped her when I got older. I have NEVER stopped cooking for myself all these decades later. Rock on, little one! Cooking is fun! :)
Your granddaughter is adorable! This looks so yummy! I think I'll make it for dinner tonight, but mix the hamburger with elk burger, because that's what I have on hand right now. I might even try putting a big dollop of mashed potatoes over the top of each burger when baking it.
Mercedes, you are such a good helper. Remember to listen to gramma and be careful where you put your fingers. You are going to be a good cook someday cause Grandma loves you and is teaching you the right way.
New Subscriber here!! Loved this video!! What a good grandma!! She is just a sweety!! So happy to see children enjoying family instead of phones and game units!! Thank you for sharing your family with all of us!!
In addition to my comment about turning the pan handles away from the front, your granddaughter touched the handle and the inside of the pan when your had your back to her. Cast iron stays hot very long. I have to cook while in a walker. I have permanent scars on my arms when I axxidently touched a hot pan. It only takes a second and burns really hurt.
FWIW, I’ve had many burns in life, some very severe. Wish I’d known about Lavender essential oil earlier on, but I use it all the time now. It helps burns, does a ton of other stuff and kills gangrene. The French government even used it in World War II when they ran out of penicillin. So, on an electrical oven element, I accidentally seared my hand all the way down to the flesh, and they wanted to do a skin graft. I said “no, I am going to put straight Lavender Oil in it and the next time I see you it will be completely healed”. I did, and it was. They said not to put it straight into a wound, but I knew what I was doing. I think it’s an absolute crime that they do not use it in burn units, because people would heal 10 times faster and I don’t think that’s any kind of exaggeration whatsoever. It also heals in a way that any discoloration of the skin from it growing new skin fades to normal in time depending on the severity of the pain. That could be a day or it could be a year if it’s a very severe burn, but eventually the skin will return to normal color. I just made sure that all raw flesh was covered in it, put it to her three times a day and kept it wrapped. In less than 10 days the first serious layer had sealed off. Then then deep trench in my hand started to fill-in, and started to scab over. Then I started to add Neosporin over the regular application of Lavender oil a few times a day. In less than 30 days, it had completely healed over with not one fleck if a scab remaining. Not one tiny bit of a scab. The doctor could not believe it. Eventually the dark mark faded. It should’ve left at indentation but it did not, and you cannot to this day tell where it ever happened. Lavender works great. Rosemary and Sage essential oils are also very good, especially for scar tissue and feeding. They need a carrier oil to get things deep to the layers and most oils need a carrier oil. It does have to be top notch, the health food stores can say that it’s pure and natural but it’s not. Most people by Young living or doTERRA, I used to, but for many years now I’ve used Ananda Apothecary. They do all the same testing but they direct market they are not a pyramid like the others, and they are the only ones that post the test results to prove that their oils are pure. I have had people try using lavender for burns that they’ve bought at natural Food stores and they did not have the same success. Sadly, they think they can cut corners but it is not the smell that heals. Of course, people should use due diligence, Ananda has quite a bit of information to assist in knowing what to do. For about almost 20 years now I have been using it and I cannot prove it because when I use lavender oil it does not leave a scar that stays. There will be a dark mark where the new skin grows, but it fades and then there is nothing. Essential oils of rosemary and sage can be mixed with some coconut oil or olive oil or some other carrier oil, and some castor oil to make a good scar reduction and fade oil. Massaging that into the scar tissue, even older scar tissue will fade the mark and soften the scar tissue. Having some Lavender Oil is critical, I keep it in my hand bag, by the bed, and in the car, and it’s always good to have a bottle in the kitchen. I even have some diffusing right now, and when I went to sleep and it is a good one for stress and relaxation. It’s even safe for children two and older with whatever dilution you see on their site. The people I know do not dilute it for their children five years old or older, but everyone must follow their own safety discernment, other oils absolutely must be diluted, Lavender is considered kind of the Swiss Army knife of oils. Even a lot of baby products it jumped on the bandwagon, but they use it for scent, it’s not likely that they’re using the real oil to any useful degree. It does help calm children at bedtime, too. Whether they get a drop on the bottom of their feet or forehead or base of neck, a pulse point, even just a drop on their wrist, that’s enough, or a linen spray to spray their pillows so it smells nice; those things help. Very few people have any allergy to it. I don’t know anyone who has an allergy to it. Of course, essential oils are powerful and should be used accordingly, carefully, but for myself, Lavender is one that I use quite freely and I do not dilute it when I use it, other than to make a linen spray for bed linens. In that case, our use just it with a tiny touch of a carrier oil and some water and put it in a glass spray bottle. Knowing this would’ve been helpful many years ago when I got burned by fire. It took a terribly long time to heal from that. I’ve had burns heal overnight, and a scald in just a matter of an hour or less. Mixing it with some aloe and water to make a skin spray or without the water and some virgin coconut oil makes a good suntan lotion you’ll never burn and you don’t need to use that store-bought stuff. It will heal a sunburn fast if you put it on straight or mix it with a little coconut oil and aloe. I had a friend who was very pale and got a terrible sunburn the day before we were to go to an all day after event. She showed up afraid to go. I just had her cover her sunburn with straight Lavender oil, and we went ahead. By the end of the day, not only was she not burned more, her lobster-red sunburn from the day before was completely healed. For people who cook in the kitchen, it’s a good one to look into the know how to use for children. If they do get burned, itwill heal them up quickly if you have quality Lavender. Of Ananda’s, my favorites are the Bulgarian, the CO2, and the Wild Lavender. The Spike is my least favorite. They sell sample sizes, too. Oh, and Helichrysum is very expensive, but they sell sample sizes and just a few drops of that added accelerate healing for wounds as well. It’s called immortelle/immortal for a reason. It regenerate cells, it also helps get heavy metals out of the system. Great stuff for scarring as well. Super powerful, One drop every 10 to 20 drops of Lavender is plenty, of you’re using them together, or it can be used alone with some coconut oil or olive oil. Carrier oils help the molecules get deeper into the tissues where they can heal. With Lavender, it doesn’t need as much help and I use it for more superficial things like burns rather than internal organs.
Debbie Bassett I don’t think so. I have literally cut leaves off halved them and taped it to my husbands hand before and it of course helped but it didn’t heal the scars or discoloration. And also it didn’t hurry it up. I always keep a plant on hand and several good quality pure bottles of aloe on hand but only to mix with.
the pan wasnt hot yet... the child tapped the handle then pan to see if it was heating up... the girl clearly has cooled plenty before and knows hot pans burn you i used to cook alot of basic things at thay age and did a ton of baking on my own... the child will be just fine.

I love how the granddaughter knew that anything her Nawna was making was going to taste good!!!! Thanks for sharing👏😊
Awww... look at your precious little helper. The next generation of Rachael Ray. See you in 20 years honey. Thanks Grandma. You are truly Blesses! ♡
What I did I followed the recipe, and the steps to a T. I also added sauteed fresh sliced mushrooms, and onions. Then baked according to the directions as indicated. You served yours with mashed potatoes, I served mine with garlic, and herb butter noodles 🍜. Delicious 😋!
What a little Angel your Granddaughter is! She is darling! & she is lucky to have such a wonderful, loving Nana. 😊
Awe, Thank you so much. She is an amazing little sweetie...
Tha ts grandma's baby😍😍😍😍
Love seeing things like this. She's never going to forget these times. Love u guys! Keep up the good work grandma💕
It's wonderful seeing grandma teach her cute little grand-daughter. Food looked delicious.
Ha ha ha! This was hysterical! You have to show her this video when she gets older! LMAO! Poor Man's Steak sprinkled with granddaughter kisses! Adorable!

Your granddaughter is adorable. Such a sweet little voice. Great job to you both
I love those little fingers in there. What does it matter . It’s all in the family. The 2 of U R just precious. My daughter passed away when she was 29. Oh how I wish I had those fingers in everything again. Looks so delish. 😘
Awe, I am so sorry for that. Thank you so much Janet.
Janet Classen, so sorry to know about your daughter, it is so sad. God Be With You!
So very sorry Janet, God bless u sweetie..praying
@Janet...i also lost a daughter in 1988. She was 2 yrs old. I know its a very painful loss. My prayers are with you. Most importantly may God comfort you. Now i have little granddaughters who fill my heart with joy until i join my daughter. I pray for those who have to endure that kind of loss. God bless you.
As I! lost my baby 2 years ago, she was 26. I would love to have the opportunity to let her lick all the utensils again!
So awesome! I love the camera angle because it feels like being in the kitchen with MY Nana. Thank you for cooking with your grandbabies. This is such an important part of being a kid, imho. =)
I love this, the only problem I have with her licking it was the raw Turkey!!
You also don't have to worry about any bacteria in her saliva surviving in the food, because she cooks it.
Good lord woman, as if you never ate a booger or raw cookie dough as a kid 🙄
Was you ever a kid . Kids do things like this . Nana told her.
I used to sit my youngest son on the counter as I was preparing food. He is now a very good Cook! He’s 35!😢
He is lucky to have you and his memories. I'd do anything for one more of my Grandma's hugs.
What an amazing helper! She makes the video fabulous, and will have a lifetime of wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Sam.
Your helper is adorable, a little naughty when your not looking 😂😂😂 but adorable. This is very similar to how you make Salisbury Steak.
That baby licked the spoon. Naughty kitten lol. So cute!
Lol I'm seeing ppl are offended. Lord have mercy... They were not raised in the country for sure!
Not at all. lol
The ones that were living in the country .... have forgotten more than the rest will ever know
Country ppl have a stronger immune system. We aren't afraid of germs. Therefore, our bodies can handle more of them. Expose your kids to more. Let them play in the dirt, and be kids.

I was raised ranch..not a day went by we didn't some how roll in manure lol..I'm still living..
She is precious. So good to see these skill passed to the next generation.
Thank you Jennifer.
So nice to see grand daughter having fun with Gran in the kitchen. Well done you did very well helping your gran. This looks delicious can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing. God bless those hands
With that little taste her body is building up immunity and will be healthier as she grows
I haven't had a meal like that in years. I'm going straight to the grocery store and by everything to make that. I'll probably put onions and red bell pepper in mine. Great recipe you great Cooks
Absolutely adorable granddaughter .. reminds me of my granddaughter when we're in the kitchen together. Wonderful recipe .. Thank you
You're grandbaby is flat out adorable.
@@LittleVillageHomestead I dont think people are being mean. Consuming raw meat and egg can make someone very sick.
@@cadlecr6 the woman knows exactly what she's doing with her granddaughter and food.
I sent this to my husband. Your granddaughter is such a big helper. It looked amazing I'll have to try it. Thanks for sharing.
I wish my Daughter would be in the kitchen with me and get out her room.
I am sorry, She is really missing out and what is sad is one day she will realize what she missed out on. Thank you.
Invite her and make her comfortable like Nana did here with Mercedes.
Take away her cell phone and see if that helps. LOL

Adorable! And a great recipe... that young lady is so fortunate to have her grandmother!
See this what kids needs !! This reminds me of Aunt Cora and me making breakfast I'm 53 now...thanks for memories. Looks good.☺
Love the way you talk to her, telling her what you're doing, asking her questions, saying please and thank you! She's doing a great job of answering you back and speaking grammatically correct:) It's so important to talk to kids about everyday things.
Thank you, I do my very best with all my grands.
I loved it when grandma said you going to be a great cook like your grandma and she sings🎶🎤yes I Aaaamm!😂😂😂priceless!
OMG that little one is sooo cute! I love the way she kept hitting her hand when you turned around and might catch her putting her finger into the meat! What a little doll she is. You should have her on all the time!
Shes adorable! Cringing and laughing at her tasting raw meat... she'll live!
Delicious recipe😋

Those are memories to

That looks like it would taste like Salisbury stake. Yum.
I think this,is,a,version of that but Amish version
I am really doing my best. I just love teaching her and making wonderful memories. Thank you so much...
You are doing a wonderful job. You are so patient. She will treasure these memories forever. Thank you for sharing with us.
I would go for the cold raw beef if I were gonna “go.” But..... no way.
Raw beef is eaten quite often in fancy restaurants. Not by me, but it does.
So precious ♡ Reminds me of my Nana when I was little. I always had to be in the kitchen with her. I miss her so much.
thank you so much oh boy i know what's for the weekend dinner we have 11 grandchildren god bless you're hands god bless you and family "😀🙏
I love yellow onion slices on a dish like this I feel it just makes flavor pop
Loved the video grandma and grandaughter time is always special
Oh did this take me back I did everything with my grandma I lived with her because my Mother worked alot and my brother lived there also so he was wiith my Grandpa and it was sooooooooooo fun!!! They lived in the country and they had a farm and orange trees and they had a garden and we would milk the cow and Grandma and I would take the cream off the top and put it in a mason jar and shake and shake it till it turned to butter and it was the best you ever had!!! And fresh vegies to cook and they were so big and tasted so good we loved it there!!!!! So your cute little girl of yours there will have good memorys there!!!
lavonne Branom that does sound perfect!
Thanks for the Mason Jar tip
This is how I grew up eating. I remember yearning for the crunch of a fresh fruit or vegetable, but the appeal of meat and potato in a rich salty gravy is unmistakable.
You ladies out did your selves, bravo👏. Thank you for having us over. I can see some garlic bread and a salad and a tall glass of ice tea, would go great with this. Yum yum.😊💝
Your granddaughter stole the show. Majorly adorable!. Reminds me of a young Drew Barrymore.
Not to troll, but please be careful about e.coli bacteria on raw meat. It doesn't take much to cause an e.coli infection, especially with young and elderly. I noticed she touched the raw meat (that is not a problem) and then later licked her finger. Just a precaution.
Thank you for your concern Scott. She never got sick and I did teach her that it is not a good thing to eat raw meat...
People eat rare burgers daily and hardly anyone gets ill from it. It's an overrated concern.
Lol she smacked her own hand when Gma caught her hand in it, 😂
This was the best! Mrs. Wayna you're a great grandmother and a sweet soul.
What an adorable couple. I love cooking with my granddaughter who is 13 now. She’s an awesome cook already
I cook this often although I am not Amish.
My family loves it with peppers and green onions.
I love the way your guest of honor Granddaughter was helping out.
Start them out young.
She is just a cutie pie.
Definitely gonna make this for my fam. Thank you!
She is learning and doing wonderful thank you.
I ate raw venison, raw steak, raw eggs, and raw horse milk at that age.
one little taste wont make her sick, lighten up
She will never forget cooking with you, it is a very special time that will last forever.
Always those in the crowd who feel the need to correct others. Good grief.
I learned from watching my mother, then helped her when I got older. I have NEVER stopped cooking for myself all these decades later. Rock on, little one! Cooking is fun! :)
Wow want a cute and articulate little girl. She’s fantastic with a big personality. I see her on tv one day.

If we could all have the precious helper you have to make each meal as healthy and delightful as she.
Your granddaughter is adorable! This looks so yummy! I think I'll make it for dinner tonight, but mix the hamburger with elk burger, because that's what I have on hand right now. I might even try putting a big dollop of mashed potatoes over the top of each burger when baking it.
Well that would be delicious.

I just HAVE to tell you, this video made my day... your grand daughter is absolutely ADORABLE...
Thank you.
Sometimes the best lessons are experience.
