TH-cam randomly brought me here and even tho I dont know about your music yet, you sold me moving to nothern sweden so I can finally be my true (stubborn) self and i am looking forward to listen to your music! May 2024 bring all the best to you.
Haha that's great! My music is linked in the description btw, if you want to check it out! I have a new song coming out pretty soon as well. Thank you for the kind comment, and I wish the very same to you!
As a fellow Scandinavian ( Dane) that happy melody was all the uplifting I needed for at least a year! Let´s get back to composing normal music that resonates with us:' Norwegian inspired black melancholic progressive metalcore symphonic contemporary Vikingr folkdeath metal in descending m7b5/ dim. semitone steps (quartertone steps would be even more delivering) with double harmonic major twists,- all based on locrian. That melody of yours almost made me smile,- but I manged to stifle it.... Phew.
I like how you include your natural environment in your videos as a background and integral part of your thought processes. I was born and grew up in Alaska (I'm presently in California) and would call the main characteristics of Northerners to be 'self-motivated' and 'independent', as opposed to 'stubborn'. I and my ancestors had to act with their own wits, skills and labor to survive in the harsh climate of the North, frequently in isolation, without the niceties of modern conveniences and access to services that most people have in the developed world. We have learned to think for ourselves and do what we choose to do, not to be channeled into the plans and thought patterns laid out for the modern urban dwellers of the more temperate latitudes.
Richard! Hello again! It makes me happy to hear its being appreciated! It feels important to me, but I often wonder if it holds me back, in terms of it not being your typical youtube experience. Almost all music youtubers sit in their home studios and record their videos from what I've seen. I absolutely agree with you btw. Well said! This is a fascinating topic to me and I think that, historically and over time, unforgiving environments tend to breed certain traits in people. So, there is probably some truth to certain stereotypes, with the caveat that reality is endlessly more complex than simple stereotypes ofc. (California is nice btw, especially the northern parts!)
Haha! Funny thing about that.. it did take some soul searching to finally settle on NOT including this on the album. I did have it right after a dramatic part, and was envisioning kind of like a nightmare section for a while.
In case I wasn't able to really deliver on this, I should clarify here that this video was meant to be taken lightly. I was in part trying to make fun of myself. Because I suppose some would argue that there are elements of stubbornness in all my examples, but I've never felt that way about it. But then again, I don't really think stubborn is a very useful word to be honest. Is someone being stubborn or is it the others who just don't get it? Happy new year!
I am huge fan of music coming from Scandinavia, with my current obsession being Kalandra (Katatonia being one of my favourites). I'm generalising, of course, but the climate, landscapes, culture, etc. definitely infuses music from the Nordic regions with a certain quality that really resonates with me. Never change.
Crazy you say that because I've been listening to their version of Helvegen non-stop for the past few weeks! I feel you though, because I agree. It's just sometimes a little challenging to talk about because of my obvious bias. But, at least when it comes to Sweden, there are a lot of statistics and things you can look into that supports the fact the Swedish music is very successful globally, especially considering the talent pool is the size of Michigan. But I digress. Thank you so much for the comment and happy new year!

The best we can be is ourselves.❤🌍🌎🌏🌐
Ir's when we try to make others be just like us that causes problems.
Couldn't agree more! Happy new year!

Haha!! Exactly Ulf! Sorry for almost making you smile for a brief second. It won't happen again!

“I like individuals not people” Well said.
And, you know, you can tell a Swede, but you can’t tell them much. 😉
Haha! Ain't that the truth!
Given what I know and what I've heard, I think think this video is actually a very subtle teaser for the material on the new album ;)

No, I have not heard of that trope before.
