    I thing good second octave notes are under appreciated by the bass community… good on you for including some!

      I am a low bass and feel the 2nd octave is where a more lyrical bass has a chance to shine. Especially, when there is a good baritone in a group of singers; having the baritone either double low in their range or sing harmony a 5th higher.

      @@johndeeregreen4592 yeah, I just think people are too fixated on “but can they project a Bb1 over a choir tho” mindset… I’m technically a bass baritone, so my low end is useable in choir to like Eb2 but that’s only my projected range. I can sing a D2 but it’s significantly less loud than my Eb.

      @@ambvurt3739, even having my lowest projected note in a choir setting being G1, I have rarely used it for that. Most choir music is written with E2 or even F2 as the low note to be sang. Now, if something is in the key of C(#), I will improvise and throw a C2(#) in when resolution is needed, but rarely. Too many on TH-cam are all about that showoff bass. Amplified, my range is MUCH lower than any of the a cappella bass singers (my lowest subharmonic is Eb0), but it's not something I just go around doing to showoff.

      @@johndeeregreen4592 if we are counting subs I have used an Ab1 as a fifth bellow in my Highschool choir.

      @@ambvurt3739, I am not averse to using them tastefully. And, subs based off a principle note within our tessitura can be quite powerful and hard to distinguish from our chest voice. For me, A0 and B0 subs are produced an octave higher (I rarely use the 5th dropped subs some people do), which are well within my tessitura... so they don't sound as fried as when I drop down to F0 or lower.

    Some of these aren't what I would call bass singers. Some, though, are LOW bass singers. Adam Chance and Tennessee Ernie Ford are two examples of bass-baritones, who can hit bass notes, but just don't quite have the vocal weight or timbre of a true bass.

    • @ntanzar911
      @ntanzar911  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      usually in music - singers who can go to E2 and lower are bass singers, so not bass, but bass singer. Adam Chance is a lyric baritone tho

    • @johndeeregreen4592

      @@ntanzar911, in the world of recorded music, this term is often blurred. Heck, in choral music, most bass sections, the singers rarely get below F2. I started in choral music and rarely sang below D2... with a chest range that goes down to E1. And, you know what? I am fine with those lines being blurred... since, even as a bass profondo, I have a range that is such, I have covered tenor parts; even though my timbre, subharmonic cracks, and inability to belt above B4 give away my true voice classification.

      @@vitormrmr, definitely notice a massive difference when Ken Turner comes in there for the C#2's... it wasn't fried and with literally zero effort. And, some of those gospel basses coming in there with authority. Especially, when they got to the C2's and J.D. rattles your ears. But, yeah, a lot of singers here are low baritones or bass-baritones using chest-fry.
