- How to Use the ParkZone Ultra Micro Radio Control System
Horizon Hobby's line of ParkZone ultra micro radio control electronics are ideal for use in your own design radio control models, or conversions of existing free flight designs. The ultra micro radios are very small in size and weight, and can be adapted to a wide range of RC model planes.
Follow along with a description of the ParkZone RC electronics and some lessons learned in various aircraft installations. The ultra mico system can be used in aircraft that weigh under 3 ounces and with wingspans under 30 inches.

Thank you for sharing! I have been looking for this exact information! Thank you again.
You are welcome!
I love to tinker so I'm enthralled with the cute little actuators that are for the ultra micro micro sized planes. However you've draw the most direct rout to achieving some decent sized indoor and out door models. Kudos and thank you for the info.
Thanks!
Another excellent video, Tim. I envy your creative abilities with RC models.
Many thanks! Tim
Glad I found this. Exactly what I need, thanks!
Chilarai: Glad that it helped! Tim
I built the rubber powered Lancer when I was 10 yrs old. When I wound it tootight the fuselage would twist lol. Good stuff
Cool!
great video
Many thanks! Tim
Thank you for this very enlightening video. I'm hoping to build a park flyer version of the Ligety Stratos so the brick option looks great. All the best!
Pety: Best of luck! Tim
Interesting video Tim, very clearly explained, that's a lovely venue you're flying in as well, I've used the brick from a UMX Yak with AS3X stabilisation and one problem I've encountered is the brick has to be mounted on its side (as original) if the AS3X is to be of any use!
Many thanks! Tim

Hi....Nice vídeo...really interesting. I just hace a little question if I got an Radio Spektrum HP6DSM ....may I use this to control that mini receiver with servos that it shows.?...thank you.
Should work! Tim
Excellent video, especially for one like me who's comfortable building models but ignorant of electronics.
More of this please.
Do gliders need an ESC?
Can you run multiple engines off a single board?
How does one size servo's?
Yes because they also have a the battery eliminator circuits to save your battery to operate your controls even though your battery has ceased to operate your motor.
Gliders have no engine, thus no ESC.
@@TimMcKay56 But they do have batteries and servos, so how's that all connected?
Great stuff Tim. What is your method of connecting the control rods? Also what material is small enough to fit in those tiny holes?
Thanks!
How are you getting ailerons with that esc brick? It only has 2 micro servos that have to run the rudder and elevator. Please explain as I am not quite understanding how you did this. Thanx.
There are two types of bricks. One is three channel, with two linear servos. Other if four channel, with plugs for separate aileron servos.
I've got 2 Guillow's kits I plan to convert to 3ch RC:
- DHC-2 Beaver (kit 305)
- S.E.5A (kit 202)
Will the parkzone micro system you show in this video be suitable for these planes? Having never built these (and won't start til I have the right equipment) I don't know how much these will weigh.
Also, what size prop should I use with this parkzone motor/esc combo?
You bet! Start with Beaver first. Sturdier with a roomier fuselage. Gordon
Excellent video. I'm making the Spin right now. It was a free plan in Quiet and Electric Flight magazine. I'm not sure if the Parkzone brick thingy can be bound to Futaba radio. If anyone knows if it can be bound please let me know!!! Thanks.
Many thanks! Tim
HI I am making my first micro rc air plane with these parts and I have some questions? What do you use for push rods and is there any way to counteract torque for smaller air frame? thanks!!!
A good starting place for compensating for the torque is to design a 6 degree down thrust and a 2 or 3 degree right side thrust for your engine. Most propellers rotate clockwise from the inside cockpit orientation (pilot's view) . Thus the prop wants to walk to the left so to speak when ever you apply throttle. Done correctly it will make your model fly straight when you goose it. LOL
Many thanks! Tim
Sir, thanks for sharing,. I am looking for this kind of system. Could you please advise where can buy it. Thank you very much.
Kevin: They can be hard to find these days. Check first www.StevensAero.com then Amazon. Tim
@@TimMcKay56 Sir, appreciate all your help. Thanks again.
I didnt hear you mention it bbut doesn't this brick utilize the AS3X system as well?
New Horizon Hobby systems do.
This is a great overview of this system, but I’m trying to figure out how to bind my controller to it.. I have the same system and controller you have there, but I can’t get it to bind for some reason.
Zach: It is quire easy to get the ParkZone receiver into bind mode. Ensure your transmitter is OFF. Connect the lipo battery to the receiver, wait 5-10 seconds and the receiver should automatically go into the bind mode (rapidly flashing light on the receiver). Once in bind mode, turn on your transmitter in the bind mode to connect to receiver. Tim
Okay, I followed your instructions, tried it.. and the light doesn’t flash rapidly.. It flashes at a pretty steady speed along with a beep sound.
Maybe the software has changed. Try to bind the transmitter in this RX mode. Ensure you point the transmitter antenna away from the receiver.
I’m not very experienced in RCs.. Sorry, but I don’t know which mode that is or how to switch to it.. All I know right now is that the receiver I’m using doesn’t work the way people explain it should work.
Is it possible that I have a different receiver than the one you have there? I have the one that came in the ParkZone Cessna 210 Centurion foam model.
I learned today that you don’t dare try to use guide tubes with these servos. They will stall super easily. I got so angry I nearly smashed them with a hammer. Now I have to somehow remove those tubes from my lancer 😭
Hey, we learn lessons all the time, good for you! Tim
Taranis TX do not work it has to be a Spektrum I believe?
Soil fit: Not sure, off the top of my head. Tim
Where can I buy them cheap
www.StevensAero.com a good start, and see if they are in stock. Tim

Thks & request an update
Will work on it! Tim
@@TimMcKay56 Oh pls look into can main modules be dasiy-chained for more control channels, thks.
@@tombouie No idea on daisy chain as the main idea is the keep things as light as possible. Anyone else?? Tim

Oh, I know nothing about RC planes but am verry interested.
*Sooooooooooooooooo I start with ultra micro radio control systems until I grow out of it.
*Next I transition to regular radio control systems & give most of the ultra micro RC stuff to some deserving kid.
*Next I transition to radio controled ultra light plane I can fly in too & give most of the regular RC stuff to some deserving kid.
*Next I'll take over the-world (don't-laugh, it could happen ;).
