what a funny coincidence - just came across this video and recognized the airbnb you have stayed in. I am going to stay there for a few days with my daughter in may, so thank you for the video and the ideas!
Have a great time! Let us know what it's like in Spring. Just got a photo from a friend who was cross-country skiing in this gorgeous setting! Thank you for watching!
Can you share the location of the small alpine hut you found on your pasture hike? Also, what was the starting point of the lakeside hike that you liked so much you did twice? Thanks!
Thank you for watching! The alpine hut with the honor bar is called Brundlalm and is on the same trail as Jochalm, which goes up from the Achenkirch area. At the Achenkirch end of the lake you also find Gaisalmsteig/Mariensteig trail, which is the trail with the cables that we did twice. The starting point is the parking lot on Achenkirch road near the lake-side campground. From the parking you head over the river/stream and along a field for a short distance before you join the lake. Enjoy!
Thank you for watching! We started the hike around the lake from the Wanderparkplatz Achenkirch at the Achenkirch end of the lake. And the bike ride around the lake from the Scholastika parking lot, also at the AchenKirch end of the lake. There's a local hiking and biking map, which is great to have with you even though the paths are sign-posted. Unfortunately, since we borrowed ours from our host, we don't know where they're sold locally. Have a wonderful trip!
Thank you for watching! This was an Airbnb apartment that will pop up if you search for Achenkirch, Austria, remove date restrictions, and set the filter for Plus hosts. Have a great trip!
Lake Achensee has some of the most amazing coloration to be seen in a lake, is it caused by the lake bed material or glacial melt water sediments? So green compared to California, jealous 😉
Thanks for watching! That light limestone of the surrounding mountains does the trick! I heard that the sides of the lakes are so steep its considered a fiord, too.
Another amazing adventure! Happy birthday Maia!
Yay, thank you! Hope you're also continuing your amazing travels. Thanks for watching!

What was the name of the park you did the easier hiking trails through the valley?
That was the valley of Karwendel park in Pertisau. Where else do you like to hike? Thanks for watching!
