KGW broadcast live from the crater of Mount St. Helens for this special anniversary broadcast.
Anchor Kathy Smith presented her live reports from inside the crater, with amazing views of the lava dome and interview with scientists who studied the mountain.
Anchor Pete Schulberg hosted the broadcast from the main KGW studios.
This is the complete newscast from that day, which also includes other news, weather reports, sports and full commercial breaks.
It is a rare time-capsule not only on the anniversary of the eruption of Mount St. Helens but also of television from the mid 1980's.

Kathy is an intelligent person and I was able to see a newscast with my media technology class from Columbia River high school in 1979. Jack Capell was the weatherman. You should surprise everyone and have her give a newscast for old times sake.
