  • Install video I put together showing how to install new front struts and camber mounts on my MK7 Golf R using the knuckle removal method. This install uses upgraded Bilstein B6 DCC compatible struts and upgraded 034 Motorsport Dynamic+ Camber Mounts but the process is the same regardless of strut and mount chosen.
For this install you must replace all the mounting hardware listed below:
    2x Strut Pinch Bolt: N90954802
    2x Strut Pinch Nut: N10106402
6x Ball Joint Mounting Nut: N10332002
    2x Axle Bolt: WHT005437A
6x Strut Mount Plate Bolt (included with 034 Motorsport Camber Plates): N91246401
2x Tie Rod End Nut: N90942902

2x4 works like a charm you can skip about half the steps instead of removing axle

I've heard mostly good things. I was doing other work at the time and it made things a lot easier to just remove everything and work on it outside of the car.

@ADVNTURR How are the B6's holding up? I'm going to install the exact same parts very soon as the factory Monroe units are falling apart.

I'm 25k miles in on my B6's and so far I'm still really happy with them. I've done a few track days with them and they've suffered through a couple of Ohio winters and they still feel great and the finish is holding up reasonably well.

Would you recommend pairing the B6 damptronic with the EMD lowering springs?

If you're going to lower the car, that'd certainly be the time to swap shocks/struts. I don't have any experience with the EMD springs, most people I know have gone with VWR springs, but EMD is reputable with other stuff so it's probably a safe bet.

@@ADVNTURR I may just go with the KW Street Comfort kit and delete dcc cuz i can't go much lower than .4" drop in the front from stock because of my aerofabb front splitter. As of right now, i have around 4.75" of ground clearance in the front.

@@Jvilleman400 the other option is the KW HAS kit which would allow you to dial in your height and works with the stock equipment or I would assume the B6 if you want to keep DCC (I use mine regularly and wanted to keep it but wasn't interested in going lower)

I’d love to keep dcc but the kits are just way too expensive, plus, the B6 kit that keeps dcc is so far on back order it’s insane, the B16 damptronic kit is too low even in its highest setting, I’d keep my stock struts and shocks but, they have 87k miles on them. I’ve had 034 Motorsport lowering springs on them for around 50k miles and I think the struts are wore out cuz my ride quality is shit.

I thought B6 had internal bump stops, you know mono tube life, no need for the external.
Maybe these DCC units are different than other B6?

    • @ADVNTURR

The DCC version of the B6 is different and does not have internal bump stops. The directions with the kit specifically say to reuse/replace the OEM bump stops when installing them.

So, what are your thoughts on the B6's now? I have a set waiting to go on my Golf R.

    • @ADVNTURR
      @ADVNTURR  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm happy with them, they work well with the factory springs. They're not quite 1 setting stiffer (B6 Comfort isn't quite as stiff as OEM Normal) and they took the bouncyness out of the Comfort setting.

@@ADVNTURR Thanks, appreciate the video--well done and you know a few things about how to work your way around a car. I'll be watching again before my install.

My left oem front strut making noises on my s3 . I am on lowering springs. Trying to figure out to replace strut with oem or aftermarket but can’t find any with dcc or just swap to coilovers and delete mag ride but not trying to over spend.
