      @TheKodiakDJ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      For real. Like I'm no Civ master, I didn't know about the sell your open borders trick for instance. But, there are so many obvious things this guy neglected. Even aside from all the potential sources of production sitting in and right outside his borders not being utilized. For ANY victory, you're still gonna need culture to get useful civics and the like, and you're gonna need food to feed your Citizens to, you know, run your cities, districts, and improvements. What could he have possible spent his early city production on? Because it was clearly never for a granary, monument, or even a scout seemingly.
      I suppose its forgivable for someone who doesn't understand the game mechanics fully yet. Like I remember not understanding that, back in Civ V, building improvements on tiles that weren't going to be worked by a Citizen just ate away at my upkeep, and then I wondered why I could never make any money, and it was because I'd improved every single tile in my borders. But this guy apparently sent a wall of text discussing game concepts more complicated than that, so I don't know.

      None of those words have a single schwa in them, never mind in the palce you think.
      They do all have [ʊ], if that's what you mean. But from what I can tell, you do mean schwa [ə]. In which case, in most British dialects, words that end with -er use this sound.

    • @rjdruhan
      @rjdruhan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@somegeezer Sorry, I'll clarify, I'm American. I don't use vowel sounds a bunch of posh geezers decided to change on a whim to sound fancier in the 19th century. I DO use the schwa for all of those words, and probably so too did many brits before RP was "invented"

    • @rjdruhan
      @rjdruhan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@somegeezer And, just to illustrate I'm NOT talking about the [ʊ] vowel, "luck" uses [ə] (same as duck), if I use a [ʊ] it would sound like "look". You might pronounce those the same and I'd have to figure out what you are talking about by context.

Decided needed someone to watch while playing rimworld and came across your overexplained bids which is something been looking for for a while. Now here, playing civ 6 again. Still not good but finally understand adjacency bonuses and don't just randomly plonk down districts just anywhere. And less scared of going to war with th AI early.

    Speaking of removing districts. There s an amazing mod called "Removable Districts" it let's you remove districts with a project that takes 1 turn. Very handy in almost every game specially when taking over cities from the ai. Also means you don't need a third party tool like that to do this.

      Aw no...are they that bad? I only took them for the first time a few days ago. Kinda annoying how I can't do anything other than settle on the leylines, but they did give pretty good returns once I racked up my great people.

    • @fressfisch
      @fressfisch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeaDSM it's not that hermetic order is bad, it's just that every other option seems to be better. I find the most important rule in Civ is that stuff you have now is better than stuff you have later (exponentially better).
      Hermetic starts to become useful when the game is almost over. I guess you could debate this for days, though...

    • @wargearinternational7679
      @wargearinternational7679 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeaDSM The Hermetic Order isnt bad, its mostly inconsistent. How good they are is ultimately determenent by how many ley lines you get. To make them work you need a fair amount of high adjacentsy campuses with universitys in them, lots of great people and lots of ley lines.
      The best strategy regarding them is to wait to join them until you have scoutet out your future teritory and figured out for what victory you are going for. If you want to go for science or domination (for other victory types other secret societys are just better) you join them and if you dont have a lot of ley lines you can reload the autosave and join another secret society.

    The dark age traderoute card works wonders for a tall game if you have a market or a harbor in each city, with magnus upgraded is just what you need to boost your cities to be all populated. so you can work them production tiles. Also i find that its better to straight up b line chemistry, as you do not need to understand how a square sail beats a triangular sail, unless your portugese... And just to get to know that for your tiny tall borders, you actually have no coal...
    Chemistry->industrialization->rocketry->satellites->smart materials, usually i have smart materials +-10 turns from completing the mars mission. And the same to offworld mission.
    Great in depth analysis.

    Great series, I'm glad it's back. Pointing out these crucial mistakes helps alot of people more than normal gameplay. I mean in normal games you go for monuments and culture pingala (btw to everyone ALWAYS take culture first on him, culture is so much more important than science early on) without talking much about it and it's all fine to the point where people don't even realise that these things are important.

    That's actually a top tier Huey lake, he just built it in the wrong spot. The problem is that it really wasn't the right time in the game to be building Huey, and honestly building Huey at all in a Tall science game is questionable unless you're out of things to do besides projects.
