It’s very simple, you remember when Lisa attacked him with a mask on? He simply insulted her as “failed experiment” and basically saying “don’t you dare pout your sword at me in that form”, Shinji knew that so he took it off to not get looked down upon
Also, they can't use the masks for a very long time. Only Mashiro can.

captain class is pretty much just a catch all for "strong". But the difference in power between captains can be pretty vast.

Yes, I believe Kubo answered this. Because he's blind, he can not witness KS release which means he is not under its effects. Tosen just wanted revenge and that's why he followed Aizen. Funnily enough it's the same for Gin but he wanted a different kind of revenge. Bro kept his eyes closed for HUNDREDS of years and still made sure to touch Aizens blade just to be sure he wasn't under KS lol
@@identityinvalid7807Aizen is aware of this too which is why he specifically chose to recruit Tosen, given he rather have him as a friend than a potential enemy. However, unlike everybody else who joined Aizen, Tosen was the only person he genuinely cared for and considered a true friend rather than a pawn like he initially planned for. Thats why Aizen trusted him completely, gave him perfect vizard/arrancar powers and also honored his final request to kill him if he ever tried to sympathize with the soul reapers again to potentially rejoin them

Thats why Tosen suddenly exploded in the FKT arc, not because of anything like 'soul suicide' which many like to believe as that only happens to unstable victims of hollowfication (Tosen was made a perfect hybrid by the hog). He would have survived the wounds that Hisagi and Sajin put on him in the battle with him but Aizen killing him is just honoring Tosen's last wish, since he knew that Tosen didnt want to forget just how corrupted the soul reapers and their system is in the soul society was like how it was in the beginning chaps with Tokinada.
