I agree with this because for example Baby Keem’s 2018 song “Baby Keem” he said “I got me a redbone fetish, that made my dark b*tch jealous”. But when he blew up the lyrics changed outta nowhere to “that made my smart girl jealous”.. it doesn’t hit the same or even make sense. I see why they did that.. they played clean up on some of his lyrics so he won’t get backlash.
I never stopped downloading music and feel like a dinosaur because of it 😂 nice to know I’m not the only one..I could never solely rely on streaming, I prefer to own my media.
A perfect example with a blocked track was Maria I’m drunk on Rodeo By Travis. From like 2016-2020 if I’m not mistaken was blocked. A fire song no one could access from the standard digital album.
As someone who is slightly younger it seems as though the online library, CD, mixtape era really has been forgotten. People from this new generation all seem to have vinyl and cassette collections. Truly saddening, especially when considering how much of an impact mixtapes and CDs had on the genre of rap. Hoping this era rises in popularity and nostalgia again one day.
@@LilEshu808 I have over 10,000 songs downloaded to my phone. It takes up less than half of my phones storage at 90gbs. Most people will have so much less than that
Ive been making this exact same argument for years. I never stopped using “alternative” methods to access this art, but i also try my best to still support the artist. Its kind of like collecting, but for me its more about preservation. The way tech is now, were at the mercy of all these companies to access the art, and this is the only way to keep your power to access and appreciate the art. Ill keep streaming and such, but ill also keep my personal archives in order to preserve my ability to enjoy it.
Ngl I consume some Artist leaks more than their released catalog like Juice Wrld, Carti, & Uzi but that’s just the generation of music I grew up in and leaks have always been a major part of those fanbases & organic communities. I think this is why some artist with the most cult-like followings often always leak their own music it can be pretty beneficial for community honestly.
i"m one of those people who enjoy listening to music and watching movies offline i hate publicities and notifications they are vibe killers downloading is a part of my lifestyle i hate being online 24/7 a physical version of song or movie will never let you down
Why is the solution to this to pirate the songs though? That’s just robbing the artists. Maybe instead of paying middlemen like Spotify and Apple Music, we start giving money directly to the artists that we love, and get direct downloads/physical copies of the versions we love.
@@dylanfigs0417 he was going through grape allegations at the time. So the original lyrics in the first verse he said “I get any girl I want, I ain’t gotta grape”. Now it just says “any girl I want, any girl I want” 😂

Yo I just wanna thank you for making this video. I recently made a short saying that the streaming era sucks & we need to invest into pirating and buying physical copies. Everything online can be taken down at any given and we wouldn’t be able to anything about it. We have our favorite content stowed away just to prepare for the worst💯
Dont u think the trade off for not buying music should be you cant dictate how the music is altered? It seems fair to me they can do whatever they want
Even before the digital era, The ADL forced a lyric change on Micheal Jackson’s “They don’t care about us” bc they found the lyrics anti-semitic. That was in 1995. They managed to force MJ to apologise an re-release the song with the lyrics edited. I do believe the album was re-issued with the altered lyrics. Ofc You can listen to the uncensored version if you look it up.
I love louis getting the attention in spaces like these as i also have begun using his words of advise and im going to own every piece of media i buy if you catch my drift
I still do this to this day. I usually hard download Soundcloud tracks and leaks but officially released music I just stream but I miss collecting music.
Anyone into the detroit/ flint /westcoast scene using spotify feels this video bad. Every other day a song getting blacked off my playlist for maybe copywrite. Jesterdafools whole discography disappeared overnight a month ago
I somewhat stopped pirating music when I bought an iPhone and subscribed to Apple Music. But I never stopped completely. If I love an artist's music, I will pay for a digital copy of the album, pirate it (mostly because it’s easier than downloading it from the various platforms) and store it in my personal media center and backup server.
I use to use sharebeast or zippy share. And do what he was referring to with the iTunes library. I remember making my own take care deluxe. That had free spirit, club paradise. Damn what a time. And I never caught that wit the yg shit
Alternatively, you could buy music from the artists - zips or physical. Lots of smaller independent artists feed themselves/their families with their music sales. Snoop's Gz up Hoez Down just got added to streaming after years of it not being there cuz of sample clearance, but I had my folks OG release of Doggystyle on cd forever and never missed a beat.
I can imagine them going back in time and RE-Editing the whole DMX catalog lol, it was a point in time. Then you got the weird beefs and clearance issues that make folks take stuff down. I’ve never bought a Migos or Nipsey album and caught the mixtape wave for them mostly but I paid a bag for their shows so it come full circle if you hot!
My thing is companies make these things a big deal because they want to please the people but the people actually paying for the music don't care they see it as just music the ones with issues probably don't even listen to the music they complain about
way late with 2010-2014, mid 2000s was the height of leaks & pirating. late 2000s they were making it worse to torrent, & then streaming companies came around like spotify is 2010 I believe. but in 06 it was free range.
Just recently I started buying dvds and CDs again, my games from now on, will be physical, I'll be damned if I pay full price for a product and then because of licensing bullshit or company greed, or whatever reason, I can't use the product I payed almost 80 bucks for

the community is still going and strong look into soulseekqt and nicotine+ and there’s even smaller communities that collect and store all kinds of music, it’s not entirely dead, and never will be most likely.

It was spotify not apple music that still has enchanted waterfall removed**. But I think initially it wasn't available on apple either

never underestimate the power of physical media. 100 percent agree.

the video game industry is going through a similair issue - they take off "online only" games offline, forcing you to buy the sequal
Facts, can't even MyCareer OFFLINE on 2k when they shut the servers down on a title, it's bs.
