I Spent 24 Hours With The World's #1 Pokémon GO Player (50 Raids in One Day)

- BrandonTan91 is the world's number one Pokémon GO player with over 300 million XP. He's a mystery to many people - some say he spoofs, some say he cheats. At the end of last year, I went to Singapore to play Pokémon GO with Brandon and his team, and this is what I learned about how Brandon Tan plays Pokémon GO...

Thanks for being patient as I stumbled through the beginning of this year. I had an incredible time in Singapore with Brandon and his team, and I'm excited to finally be ready to share this with you. The purpose of this video isn't to debate the ethics of having multiple accounts or judge the way anyone else chooses to spend their time and money. I'm here to share my perspective on what it takes to be the world's top Pokémon GO player. It's about much more than just grinding - it takes true passion for the game to be able to do what Brandon does, and I have a very deep respect for him and his contributions to the Pokémon GO community, both in Singapore and worldwide. Enjoy!
You are the best TH-camr ever! Vids like this is what splits you and rest of the pogo community
excellent work, well worth the wait and effort. you really should do more of this documentary style, it's just perfect.
maybe one about niantic and their internal processes (or as much of that as they care to share with us) and i'm one happy nerd :D (maybe this vid could help as some sort of reference, for them to realize you really should do that)
Hi Nick from India
how does he earn money? he plays 24.7 and the players with him as well? before he used to play coc and cr
Very nice Video. Really nice to see how the player with the most XP in the world plays. Keep it up Nick!
This guy is the kid in school who says he’ll become a Pokémon master and actually succeeds

Hello lord Popo would you rank me in order of pecking order

He said it is legal there to use your phone while driving.
@@charlestrujillo9717 dude he was using an I pad 😳
@@charlestrujillo9717 So what, it doesn't matter what the law says. It's obvious to anyone that drives that keeping your eyes away from the road to look at a screen is dangerous. Doesn't matter if its mounted or not. And brandon himself knows that. Not sure if he still does that though.
TheDeterminer he doesn’t look at the screen for the bulk of it though and yes ultimately of course he shouldn’t nor should anyone else but it could be a lot worse for him
Don't use phones while driving
Brandon: okay I will use a tablet
Lol
True
That’s how you break the SYSTEM
I also have been playing on an 8 inch Asus tablet for the last 3-4 years and it is so much more convenient. You can drive and spin pokestops with the tablet on your lap while not even looking. For the rest it is better for your eyes, they never have to zoom in to look at the small phone otherwise.

Man, I wish my elementary school teachers could see how far Pokemon has come. Especially, the teacher that shredded my Mewtwo card😡
She WHAT?!
Chromiako Cosmos yeah, one teacher took my Pokémon cards. Mind you this is when Pokemon the cartoon and cards had just started being released.
And another teacher shredded my cards😡 it freaked sucked.
I had a Mewtwo holographic card in my deck.

I guess it’s time “ lawsuit I choose you” lol
I love watching this video even 3 years later. It’s just a great story and coverage of Brandon and his community.

Nick's narration and editing is quite professional. This video has the feel of a PBS documentary. This is more than just about Brandon or even Pokemon Go. As one woman said, "I'm a senior citizen. Playing with Brandon makes me feel young again." Nick gets it. He understands the complete dynamic of Pokemon, but also community gaming in general. Bravo, Nick.
I really like this part too

Brandon's work ethic is insane. I wish i could grind with a group of people like him
Uses audio cues to throw perfect no-look excellent curveballs... meanwhile I struggle to even catch a pidgey without it running away.
its easy when you practise, i help people catch legendaries
💀💀💀💀
TheHackerNorway Pokémon GO how do you get them or where do they pop up
Drew B raids
The trick is to throw the Pokémon when the legendary is doing a move, not when they jump or move to the sides, but when they attack. Throw it in that time zone and it’s easier to catch...
I’m a legit player and am only level 29 in a small town in Ohio.. Literally no one does legendary raids here. I got all my legendaries from field research
@Lite Envolpe I'd suggest trying to make (or find) a Facebook group for Pokemon GO and ask if there is a chat or Discord for your area (you'll be suprised how much people play).
I live in rural Australia and did this and now I'm able to get notified when people are going to a legendary raid.
Hope this helps ❤
That’s is a grind 🙌✨
I’ve never done a legendary raid before because I’m never in the right place and there’s so many
I live in painesville Ohio. No one plays
Never knew I’d meet my clones.
"If you're feeling stressed about playing a game, something is clearly wrong." I take this to heart!
I tend to stress myself over my progress in many games because I am very competitive, but that often kills my motivation and enjoyment to play. I end up playing hardcore for a relatively short amount of time, and after, I take a very long break or quit entirely. Though, if I'd allowed myself to take it slow and not stress about min-maxing everything all the time, I surely would have more consistent progress and a lot more fun along the way.
Brandon seems unbelievably intelligent, and I think we can all learn a lot from him, not just about PoGo but also about life.
This was awesome. I’d love to see an update on Brandon and the community :) so wholesome
THIS IS THE BEST POKÉMON GO VIDEO EVER MADE. AUNTIE! She made me almost cry when she said “I’m a retired citizen and playing with these youngsters....I feel young again”. I love everything about this video and if Niantic doesn’t hire you as a videographer/marketing guru for them.....they are really losing out on someone that keeps people playing. I’ll be honest. Without you and the amazing love you put into the community, I would’ve stopped playing a long time ago. Congrats nick! This video is perfection and you’re going to go places. I can see it now.

Idk how I ended up on this old video again, but it still amazes me what a single passionate human being can create. All those people were casual players before they met Brandon. He turned them all into hardcore grinders through his passion for this damn game. He basically created that small group/community of players. Helps that Signgapore is apparently absolutely mad over pokemon go, but doesn't make it less impressive. I will say that it hurts me to think about the amount of money he's put into the game. He basically runs incense, lucky egg and star piece 24/7. He also drives (gas money) around placing lures all over the place. Not to mention the million raids he's done. Then again who am I to count another man's money. Great video.
I wish I had a crowd to play with
Find a FB group/discord for a nearby urban area (I assume you're rural). Maybe can't make it all the time but could really make C-day worth making a day trip for.

In terms of a documentary, this is excellent, it's not preachy, but has a clear point of view and perspective that many outside the community may not understand. It can stand on it's own even outside of this channel, which I think shows it was well done :)
What I see in this video is people having fun together. That is the core of Pokémon Go that I so admire; it brings people together.
This is the reason I play this game! Wish I could meet you and Brandon someday. I look up to you both you guys are awesome!

Wholeheartedly agree. The Japan vlogs will always have a special place for me, but seeing this made me realise that sometimes, we don't need to be bogged down by the semantics of the game. If it unites a community and brings people together, then more power to them. Thank you Nick, this video is the reason I'm still a Patron of yours.

I started watching this video 5 months ago before I had actually started playing. I just drove my girlfriend around while she played because it made her happy. I watched this video about 3/4's the way through and remember being so impressed with the community and normally socially awkward people coming out of their shells and having wonderful interactions with each other playing the game.
Fast forward a few months and I started playing the game myself because I was going through a hard time and needed to get away.
I instantly discovered what occurred in this video and have been obsessively playing daily since!
I now watch all the big TH-camrs, discord, slack, pokemongo hub etc. and am on multiple raid teams and chat groups.
