This is great. I am trying to “purge my hoard”. I have so much scrap material. I hate to throw it out (burn pile). And I am looking for ideas. Especially for a bunch of the 2x4 cut offs that I have. So your playlist is perfect.
Sure, if you consider your labour, time, and tools are worth zero dollars, Then i guess the profit can be that high.

@@OctaviaBoesWifey if you don't keep growing your skills you're not growing your hourly rate. If you do, you do. Or could, at least.
If you're employed at the same job doing the same things for 40 years you get eaten up by whatever life and the economy throws at you, but that's on you for the most part. You can easily do 25$ per hour if you're a half decent welder and that's a thing you can learn in a matter of weeks, or days even.
@@duffpaddy3996 I mean I know as a self employed person you. An easily make more than $25 an hour, but most ppl in American working their butts off at a day job don’t, so this is still good and he gets to be home all day!

Would put something on the feet to stip it slipping when a towel is yanked out of it.
Simple project to sell and use up scraps. Would adding rubber feet help with stability? Or is this more of a decorative display?
I added them to the one I built for my wife. Gives great traction on slick granite.

Thanks for stopping by. I have no experience with an electric hand planer. But the beauty of TH-cam is you can learn about practically anything! Go down those rabbit holes! And then TAKE ACTION. Nothing ever gets built with inaction.

In Vancouver your average dumpster house from the mid 70s is well over 1 million
If you've already got all the gear you can make a profit. But if you don't have all that gear your expenses outweigh the profit. If you factor in the cost of the gear, I doubt if your profit would be as high as you stated.

I sell my furniture builds on Facebook Marketplace. I don't sell these smalls. I give examples of what others are selling online like Etsy. I do plan on testing the smalls with my FB sales. For instance, have a console table for sale and throw in a serving tray for free.

I have spent $800 on tools and build whatever the customer wants including cabinets, tables etc.. Buy used tools. You don't need all the fancy stuff to be efficient. My tool collection is worth about $4,000. You just have to be thrifty, that's all
I live off grid in a log cabin in the Canadian bush on solar.. so all my power tools are dewalt cordless so I can recharge the batteries lol.
And all my lumber is logs.. with that said I’ve made these out of tree branches that I’ve peeled and sanded and do a half lap to connect rails.. they sell for 50$

As a profit percentage that sounds great. But making around $23-$24 (before tax) for an hour's work isn't something I'd spend time doing. I'd rather spend $50 on materials and spend an hour making $100 profit. It's a much lower percentage but it's sustainable.
Apparently the labor was free, and all the power tools came from a thrift store. It is a pretty useless object - good for cluttering up a kitchen.
Listing something for a price does not mean people are buying it or is worth the asking price.
You would need $3000 worth of equipment to do the job.
Factoring in your time and you're making about $15/hour. Nice for a hobby.

You’re 100% correct. You cannot accurately identify your profit margin until you carry the cost for your invested time. I think if this were to be truly a high profit margin item with a consistently strong return on investment, you would need to do batch runs.
Don’t waste your time or energy, building shit to sell. I’m a damn good carpenter and wood working blessed by god o e thing I hv going for me. I built many so called great sellers and garden trellises and just got back in from my 3rd day trying to sell this shit to garden centers and k ick knack stores, unless you can sell your shot for pennies on the dollar good fucking luck. I had a lot of different things my wife loved and hv in our house. Didn’t sell one dang thing unless I wanted to give them away
unless you can make it in 15 minutes you will lose money, labor is the most expensive part of the project

If you want to have plenty for multiple jigs, I just found a 4-pack for 9 USD and a 12-pack for 21 USD.
I don't have any yet either, but they're not a single use item. Depending on how you do the accounting for covering their cost, they can either be paid in full after your first project that sells, or if you're making 10, 20, or 100 of something...divide the cost of the clamps by how many pieces you're making to sell and include that amount in your materials cost until they're paid off. From that point on they're a zero cost item that is only making money for you...if you continue using them.

You can not have a 3000% profit. Help your viewers have some basic understanding how business works. If you sell something that costs you $1 and you sell if for $100,, it would be a 99% margin. To have a 3000% profit, you would need to have a negative cost of goods. Talk about margins, not mark ups, just the basics of running a business. All your costs need to be considered too not just materials. Tools, supplies etc.

I agree. "80 cents worth of materials and under an hour of work", not considering tools, and selling for 25 dollars is good but not fast way to success good.
Just showing various ways to make some money. I never claimed one would get fast success. This is a great entry level project to get started in woodworking with, however.

Every tool this guy has had been paid for many times over I'm guessing, so it's completely fair to say the only cost here is material. Ones time doesn't factor in to these hobby projects. If that's the case everyone is losing money just typing a ridiculous reply.
