Thanks so much for the sew along. I have made the shirt following your video and enjoyed your tips and instructions. I don’t know how to upload a photo to the comments section but it turned out well and the collar sat really well under a dress jacket. It’s a good design. Thanks again
You are so welcome! Please do share your makes with us on Minerva 😊
Thank you so much for this video! This is my first time making a big 4 pattern so I am grateful for the sewalong. One thing I’ve noticed in the instructions is there’s not a lot of references to seam finishes. Is it just implied I should be overlocking after each seam? Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful! Yes in most cases you can give your seams the finish you want - overlocking then is ideal
When I hem the neckline on the yoke do I sew all 3 yoke layers together? Or one at a time?
Hello, great sew along, one question please, do I have to cut the front and the placket separately or can I cut one whole piece and turn ? just about to make a shirt today, thank you for sharing this tutorial
I'm a pretty standard UK size 12, but went with the advice on what size to make. Using the dimensions on the back if the pattern it looked like I should be a 16, so I bit the bullet and made a basic toile of the body. So glad I did, as it's absolutely huge! It does feel like I'm wearing a UK size 16 (the toile) so now im totally confused about the sizing. I know the pattern has quite a lot of ease but I'm now nervous about sizing down, as i do feel that a couple of sizes smaller would be needed. Your finished shirt looks very like the one on the pattern picture, which is much less voluminous. Short of making another toile, is there any way I can guage which size i should make?
Hi there! We would advise to watch some of our fitting videos we have on our channel which will allow you to take in your make to achieve a better fit, but we would always advise to make a toile to ensure the measurements are correct and you have a garment that fits really well 😊
@@MinervaDotCom thanks, I made another toile in the 12 size and it fits much better. Not a complete sewing novice, but this is my first ever pattern ( I like a challenge!) and the sizing was confusing on the instructions. Just waiting on my fabric to arrive before finally getting started for real 🙂
Very swanky!
Good video but the collar bit was too fast for me to fully see what you were doing.
Sorry about that - Thank you for your feedback!
