Just some advice from experience in utility work specifically water we would use AGG sand or bedding sand. This is the fines from a crusher and are basically sand. This makes a nice base that can be packed graded ect but doesn’t leave pieces large enough that they could get pressed against the line and cause a hole. Any water line especially ones that see on and off full flow will pulse. These pulses cause the lines to move a lot in the ground even large DIP lines do this. Rocks will rub a hole every time especially in a weaker pipe like PVC. Dirt/clay with no agg bigger then 2” can be used but we prefer the sand for bedding and 1-2” above the pipe before regular backfill.

Question. Why would you use pvc pipe now days. Roll pipe better and cost less and wount freeze
The dirt nice part when not mud clay. You can grade it easy.
Can see where the 30 inch bucket in gravel would be nice

Yea codes are funny like that. I do prefer some pex for in ground water piping, but gotta do what ya gotta do. I just repair alot of pvc and know its failures, but.. it all fails eventually. Nice work man, the groundhog did great.
