  • National rent prices have risen by 2.5 per cent in the three months to June, as the rental market battles rising demand driven by overseas migration, a chronic shortage of available properties, and tight vacancy rates. Rents have now reached record highs in many capital cities. Sydney remained the most expensive city for renters in the June quarter, while Canberra and Hobart were the only capital cities that saw rental prices fall for houses and units.
