I don't know if anyone remembers but Ralph Peterson ( along with a very young Kenny Garrett ) was a member of a short_lived Blue Note sextet, Out Of The Blue. Also, included in the group was Michael Phillip Mossman ( trumpet ), Harry Pickens ( keyboard ), Robert Hurst ( bass ) and Ralph Bowen ( drums ). From 1985 to 1989 they cut a total of four albums. Their 2nd, Inside Track, was the one that turned me on to the Tadd Dameron tune made famous by Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, Hot House.
Remember the group. Great band , great arrangements ans soloists. I think the OTB was completly swept (and forgotten) by the emergence of Marsalis band .
The tune is "Reunited" by Ralph Bowen.
Ralph Bowen is a beast. What a sound and mastery of the horn. Unreal. Thanks for posting.
Dang!!!! Y'all are killin' it here. Almost 10 years ago!
Kinda odd the camera doesn't focus on the horn player until @1:27. Bowen is incredible. The entire ensemble is damned good! Thanks for sharing.
Very nice. Thanks for posting...
maravilhosos, Deus ajude essa gente alto nivel, que fazem suas coisas!
Ralph is a beast. This group needs to get back together.

@@ericworthy1300 Ralph Peterson was the drummer. Mr. Peterson passed away just a few weeks ago. a real loss to the community of Jazz.
