  • Testing the exhaust sound before and after removing the spark arrestor. The video doesn’t do it justice in terms of how much louder it is after removal. REMOVE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Removing spark arrestor can cause wildfires and possibly cause heat damage to parts of your bike. I’m not responsible for how cool you decide to be ;)

That’s pretty normal backfiring but the exhaust goes through a cat so I really doubt you’d see any actual flames

All you have to do is remove the three bolts around the exhaust tip 0:33 seconds shows what it looks like removed. I believe the socket I used is either an 8mm or 9mm. The spark arrestor should slide out as a whole, leaving what you see in the video. MAKE SURE NOT TO LOSE THE BOLTS OR SPARK ARRESTOR! Once removed you can reinstall the bolts into the holes and leave the spark arrestor in a safe place. If you have ran the bike recently the parts will be hot so beware of that.
If you plan to leave it out and want to make your new exhaust look more OEM, follow these instructions:
METHOD 1: buy some high heat matte paint, sand down the areas surrounding the exhaust tip until it is smooth with no surface rust, and apply the paints. Individual paints will have specific instructions as to how they would like you to apply it.
METHOD 2: take your existing spark arrestor, and on the back side remove the tube and screen by cutting it. I’d suggest leaving half an inch of metal tube left when you cut it, just to be sure you don’t accidentally mess up your first cut. You can always cut it shorter if you’d prefer. It should leave you with a deeper and louder sound while still retaining the OEM Factory look.
