As for the helixes, a work-around I use is to quickly slap a few half plastic half-blocks onto the nose and use that as a walkway. When I'm done looting the helixes, I just zap them off. A bit cheesy, but it works.
Thanks, I think that storage for transport your loot is pretty important early on as you don't have massive resources the first ship need to be a bit of an all-rounder. I had not really though of tagging a couple of block on for doing that it is a good idea. though i think its nice if you can nose into them with the ship you have to start with. :)
Thanks for the showcase! What I've done to jrandal's SV, is that I took out two of the four Gatling guns and placed two more thrusters for higher top speed instead.
Your welcome i hope to get some others out in a few weeks. I do love Jrandal's build but as you say i sometimes feel the need to mod them though as i do with many other workshop creations. I am not taking away from his builds, as I which that i could build ships as pretty as he does. One of the great thing about the game is you can take someones build a adjust it to suit your play style better.
Hahaha, that's fair like anything when you start playing with a build especially one you have made yourself you look at it and go damn I wish that was there or I had easy access to this. Like how many players will add a quick exit off the bridge of a CV :P
Very helpful. I like Spanj's sv & the one after. Very difficult finding an sv without cobalt & titanium. Saw Spanj made a glider with no rcs, gonna try and build that.
I'm glad you liked the vid and found it helpful, you comment is greatly appreciated. It is very tricky to get that early SV that only requires the basic materials. Spanj's build wins on looks and upgrade-ability for sure. Though for me it lacks that carry capacity i look for so the early SV becomes the go to vessel. That's where the Zaphod's Skaar-Reaver-T1 or the scout have the upper hand, but in turn they lack the upgrade-ability so it's a trade off
Hahaha, there are so many I struggled to get down to the sort of 5 ish I did lol. Link it in the comments here and I will give it a look, as the big builder get a lot of exposure on steam but is hard to find the gems by smaller builders
Where neodymium is not readily available you can pick some up be salvaging engines from the Heidelberg or other ships and you often pick up small amounts in early POIs. plus on the more difficult starter planets like the swamp planet start there will be some neo rocks you can find. I hope this helps :)
The Tik and the Nightshade would be my picks for those reviewed. The Tik may have low top speed but it has excellent mobility and good attack power for T1. The Nightshade is upgradable but the trade off is a larger foot print and some decreased agility. Another good starter SV is the T1 Necrofear by El Perezidente. Small, fast and good attack power. Not as robust as others though and lacks upgradability due to size.
