my favorite q-tip beat as of right now has gotta be 'midnight' off midnight marauders. great track for a late night drive/on the way to the function vibes.
Loved learning the techniques and will incorporate them in my workflow. Working without samploes saves money and makes you try new things. Thanks for doing what you do. FYI, For Murdergram Deaux, QTip used a sample "Donna's Dilemma" by Anthony King and pitched it way down
My most influential producer is definitely Q. So many great songs its hard to name one. 8 Million Stories, Jazz (we got), Get a Hold, check the rhyme, and so many more. But I guess I'd say Start it Up on the Love Movement just because it was my first album of theirs and it blew my mind.
Tip has so many bangers that it’s hard to choose one, but since we’re talking about basslines I’ll say “We Fight, We Love” but that could change in the next 5 minutes as I listen to another of his songs. 😆😂🤣
Great tip. Yes the new LL Album is fire! Especielly the first track with Snoop Dogg. Favorite Q Tip Beat, basicly everything from Midnight Marauders lol
Q-tip is my favorite producer of all time. As much as "Scenario" has always been a favorite, "Space Program" is just super impressive from a production standpoint. From LL's album, there are so many songs that are just amazing with the production, but I'd have to go with "The FORCE", although "Black Code Suite" is a close second for me.
Great advice as usual. I like this. The metronome volume was loud compared to the sub bass when putting it together but once it's recorded and turned off is dope. You gave me an idea with the note repeat and was wondering if you tried this on the MPC 2000? If you assign a bass sound to 3 separate pads and the main pad in parameters set to simultaneous for the 3 pads and have different pitches for each one and different swing patterns for the other 2. With the note repeat, different tuning and filtering for the other pads, would that make a homemade arpegiator? Just thought of it watching this video.👍
Black Code Suite” has been my jam since the album came. It’s a solid release Also, Q-Tip has mentioned on Questlove’s podcast that he stole the bass from jade’s don’t walk away for Award Tour, which I’m guessing he just filtered out everything he didn’t need and built it around it which could also could be a he used technique as well
Forgot to mention that Eminem co-produced this beat as well as rapped on it for those that will correct me LOL
Totally agree with you on The Force album. That whole project is 🔥Tip is like your favorite producer’s favorite producer🫡

How did I not know Q-Tip was such a prolific producer? I should've guessed when he had an MPC Renaissance on one of his album covers.

nice idea but you would need to insert space for the other 2 pads, i may have to try that
"One Love" for Nas Illmatic is my favourite❤

I'd mix the old base you had with the inspired one in some way because the inspired one sounds too much.
