13 जब वे चले गए, तो देखो, एक स्वर्गदूत ने यूसुफ को स्वप्न में दिखायी और कहा, "उठ, बच्चे और उसकी माता को ले और मिस्त्र भाग जा; और वहां तब तक ठहर, जब तक मैं तुझे न कहूँ। क्योंकि हेरोदेस उस बच्चे को खोजने और उसे मार डालने के लिये उसके पीछे आया है।"
14 यूसुफ ने उसी रात उठकर, बच्चे और उसकी माता को ले मिस्त्र चला गया।
15 और वह हेरोदेस के मरने तक वहां ठहरा। इस प्रकार यह बात पूरी हुई, जो प्रभु द्वारा भविष्यद्वक्ता के द्वारा कही गयी थी, कि "मैंने अपने बेटे को मिस्त्र से बुलाया।"
16 तब हेरोदेस ने यह देख, कि उसने मागीों से धोखा खाया, तो बहुत क्रोधित हुआ और उसने मट्टी के भीतर, और उसके आस-पास के सभी क्षेत्रों में, दो वर्ष और उससे छोटे जितने लड़के थे, उन्हें मारने का आदेश दिया। यह तब हुआ, जब हेरोदेस ने मागीों से अपने द्वारा पूछे गए समय के बारे में सटीक जानकारी प्राप्त की थी।
17 तब यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता के द्वारा कही गयी बात पूरी हुई,
18 "रमाल में शोक और रोना और बहुत विलाप हुआ। रचनाह की माता ने अपने बच्चों को विलाप करते हुए, उनके लिए शोक किया, और वह शांति से न रह सकी, क्योंकि वे नहीं थे।"
This passage refers to the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt to escape King Herod's massacre of the innocent children in Bethlehem.
