Thanks, Greg! Thankfully Charleston saved many, many old homes, buildings, and churches after the earthquake. Charleston has been hit by many hurricanes too, but she still stands! So thankful for that!
Splendid presentation. Amazing that affected structures remain. My GGF was among a small assembly of men meeting to incorporate the City of East Point (near Atlanta GA) which adjourned to step outside from the shocks.
Thanks, David! I’m so glad your great grandfather told you the story of the earthquake aftershock being felt in East Point! I’m sure it was frightening! Thanks also for watching and commenting!
We have small quakes here in Georgia, barely noticeable. We did have one about ten years ago which woke me up. Charleston lies directly on a fault line that rarely gets seismic activity, but the 1886 quake was devastating. I’m terrified of them too!
South Carolina such a beautiful state never even knew about this in the history books in high school and thank you for the info
Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Neat little tidbit of a natural tragedy back in the past. still leans today but stands . thanks for spreading the info

Have you had any earthquakes since? Out of all the natural disasters to have earthquakes scare me most! Mary
