Tbf the results the game spits out for your politics are ultimately more or less opinions and guesses. For many scenarios, there will be some country in the world that refutes the outcomes the game will give you.

Why do I feel it would be fun to sit down and tell him why what he does is not such a great idea?
Technocracy is always a pipe dream. The politicians always remain in power and if you support basic democracy you want to keep it that way so that the technocrats don't sacrifice everything for their area of expertise. Unfortunately the downside of the politicians being in charge is that the technocrats exist to serve the politicians and thus are aimed at political goals and not people's ideal of what they think of technocrats.
Tommykay figures out most of the policies he believes in are rubbish the game:

Well-to-do prestigious university phd+ graduates go straight into expert-counsel jobs, then become cadres and bureau chiefs. For me the thing about this game is that you can literally ignore your deficit and just do whatever the people want and when you have high popularity just do things like shut down the media, give a lot of power to the police and give yourself indefinite presidential mandates and become a dictator in all but name. It's fun at first, but it gets really boring really fast
No it's shit, it's fun the first hour and then you drop it (it costs A LOT) also the dev is an ass and release the same game every 6 years with like 2/3 overpriced DLCs that don't do anything and drops the game forever. Also it's very bad from a research viewpoint (you can do unconstitutional things since there's not a constitution mechanic of some sort, and there's no parliament), macroeconomics are oversimplified for a game like this (seriously no inflation? no serious GDP calculations? wtf?) and balance is terrible, if you survive the first term you have beaten the game and you're just going to max every stats and make the perfect country

Taxes do drive your citizens into poverty.
