Popular Mutes and Accessories for the Discerning Brass Player
Jo-Ral mutes' slogan is: The mark of a master. For 30 years that master was Jo-Ral founder Joe Alessi, designer of the company's premium-quality mutes. Alessi continually refined Jo-Ral mutes to provide ever-greater levels of acoustic and tonal performance for brass instrument performers.
Some of the most talented professional musicians in the world have tested and found Jo-Ral mutes worthy. You'll find Jo-Ral mutes are used by leading brass performers in every musical venue from symphonic and band and orchestra to jazz and studio session players.
Only the highest quality hand-spun aluminum is used in the manufacture of a Jo-Ral mute. Jo-Ral takes the time to make sure that each mute they design is tested to perform evenly in all registers. Another highlight of the wide line of Jo-Ral mutes is their use of alternative materials on the mute's base, varying the sound and giving performers more sounds for special effects. For example, multi-purpose Jo-Ral all-aluminum mutes provide a bright muted sound, while brass-bottom mutes impart a slightly warmer, closer sound ideal for smaller settings. For a darker, mellower effect, Jo-Ral copper-bottom mutes are the perfect choice. And all-copper Jo-Ral mutes create a deep, rich sound.
Jo-Ral mutes also feature neoprene-enhanced composite cork pads for extra durability. The result is a more pliable cork that grips well and won't dry out, become brittle, or break off-making it longer lasting while it easily accommodates fine adjustments to your horn for a perfect fit.
Another Jo-Ral idea loved by musicians is the innovative Brass Short Cut. This 5-½" practice aid accepts a trumpet mouthpiece. Use the portable Jo-Ral Brass Short Cut to warm up or to keep your embouchure in shape while traveling to and from rehearsals, at school, or to extend practice time. New students can use the Brass Short Cut even before they purchase an expensive brass instrument.
Jo-Ral trumpet mutes are available in both performance versions and practice versions that provide additional muting. Straight mutes are available for trumpet and piccolo trumpet. Other Jo-Ral trumpet mutes include bubble, tri-tone, plunger, and bucket models. Similar Jo-Ral mutes are also available for trombone performers, as is a wah-wah mute for trombone. Jo-Ral French horn mutes are available in aluminum, copper bottom, and practice versions. A Jo-Ral bubble mute for flugelhorn performers rounds out the product line.
Woodwind & Brasswind is proud to offer high-quality Jo-Ral brass instrument mutes for musicians from professional to beginner. Jo-Ral mutes and the Jo-Ral Brass Short Cut are backed by The Woodwind & Brasswind's 110% Price Guarantee, assuring that you won't find a Jo-Ral product at a lower price anywhere else.
my jazz appreciation professor said the bubble mute is also called the Harmon mute
Hi Tony!
Great to see you on TH-cam……………. Mutes sound great.
I need all of these.
I swear the last one he used was called a "Harmon" mute
It's a bubble mute made by JoRal, obviously, but it's practically a Harmon.
It's a Harmon, but curvy. I have one of those bubble mutes it's nice
Harmon is actually a brand, people just adopted the name for that cause that brand was most popular in making them so it just became the Harmon mute.
I was listening to the main theme from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly by Ennio marricone this morning and now I know where the waa waa waa sound came from.
I bought a TBT-1a straight mute and can't wait to get my hands on it!!!
I really like that bubble mute
ricardo santiago Buy one dude it’s hella fun
+Dave T Actually, its called the bubble mute, which it does sound just like a harmon mute.
Brilliant explanation!
The bubble mute without the stem sounds like it was in the Incredibles
that bubble mute gives me heavy pink panther vibes without the stem
Thanks for the vid! I mean, I'm not gonna buy one (I would probably need a horn and the ability to play one first) but I was wondering what those things were, and was looking for a quick demonstration.
Thank you this information. Could you please do a demonstration for a hat mute?
If I buy Jo-ral mutes will I sound as good as you?
I need a mute that Chris Botti uses. Anyone know which one that would be?
Why did you just show two instead of all of them
Very beautiful and sir.
Muito Bom!!!
I like to know how you define the different mutes in the score. do you write "straight mute" and + o on the notes?
What was the model of that bubble mute? I am looking at one marked CSTPT2C but I'm trying to find an example of its sound.
What mute was used for the lick in the intro, if it even was a muted trumpet?
So cooooooooooo
у качественной сурдины и звук качественный.
I assumed when people said whah mute they meant electronic wah like guitar pedals have added in some way.
Cool.!
you said it
I bought a Wallace mute but it goes a half or whole tone up. Do these mutes do that?
Isn't a mute supposed to create the same tone only muted? No compromise in sound tonation.
Audun Jemtland mutes will always make you sharper, and if you're on French horn it will be a half step higher than usual
Is a harmon style mute silent enough to practice with it?
Is the 'practice mute' by Jo Ral any good?
Can I use this on a zurna?
After hearing this and left wondering how the others sound, I am going to punish my trumpet by throwing it under the wheels of the city bus as it drives by!
Garras Porgratix no please don't it would be an instant regret
