Terrifying how that system didn’t have multiple security steps in place. If there’s ever a change in the account-activity at my bank, they freeze it & call. The middle-man hasn’t done anything? This shouldn’t happen so easily, as you haven’t done anything wrong they should reimburse all of it. Have a closer look at the agreement!
Of course this is an old video, but the problem was likely that there was no change at the bank, the change was with square. Square should have frozen the account and therefore been liable for the damages, especially approving that loan! Even TWITTER tells me when someone tries to log in from a different location/device, and square doesn't have some notification system like that?? Seems insane to me.

My mom is a small business accountant and she had a client who would almost never check their accounts on their own. And she'd always have to harp on them so they wouldn't miss any bills and go into even worse debt. That client was me, I am not good when it comes down to finances. Also she'd make me pay extra if she did my books.

They took $9k and made her account liable for a loan for the rest. They received $25k. I don't think she'll be liable for the fraudulent credit line, but since that's not confirmed I understand the stress.

I feel so bad and literally like 3months ago my parents got the same amount of money stolen we’ve gotten it back now but it was crazy! But a month and a half!!! How can someone not feel guilty doing that!

Is there an update on what happened? I really hope that everything on your end was corrected and the person is caught! My visa was compromised. I noticed within 2 days, thankfully! They purchased a plane ticket and I called and everything was fixed for me. I don't know if the person was caught.
I feel ya! I first noticed that my credit card was used fraudulently by my ex boyfriend but didn't notice the fraud he did on my debit card around 8 times. I don't work so he knew to use my card at the beginning of the month when I got my disability that I wouldn't notice as I spent wisely. I contacted the RCMP and they listened to his sob story so he was never charged. I ended up taking him to court for other money he spent/borrowed. I won, but to collect is impossible. Transfered his money to an online bank knowing it couldn't be garnished. In Canada the criminals have all the rights and we have to sit back and hope to get paid. It will be 6+ years of me dealing with my ex.
I don't know what to say I am speechless. Just like you were I pray that the person that hacked in to your account gets court like someone can actually stop them for taking money from you and maybe other people.

The full 25k was not hers. She will only get back what they stole from her account.
