I live in Brisbane, Australia and I personally feel that it is one of the most liveable cities and very peaceful with a low population but still has all the big city amenities. Probably what Sydney/Melbourne used to be 20 years or so ago. Its all about the branding on a global scale - that Sydney and Melbourne are the best cities in Australia so they're growing rapidly at 100k+ people added per year and that is contributing to rising house prices. Brisbane is relatively more affordable on that front and does have exciting places such as the Goldcoast and the Sunshine Coast on its doorstep. Not to mention the fantastic all-year round sunny weather. It is only lacking in public transport and infrastructure and a bit of entertainment/culture but that is soon to change in the lead up to the 2032 Olympics with Queens Wharf, Brisbane Metro, Waterfront Brisbane and Cross River Rail.

When I was in Australia in June & July of 2017, one of my weekly stops was Brisbane. I really really loved the city and the vibe I got off the place. It's not as hustle & bustle as Melbourne or Sydney, but I think that's what I really liked about it. Just feels different but has all the amenities of a large city without the uppity-ness. Add to it amazing weather and beautiful beaches nearby (Moreton Island, Stradbroke "Straddie" Island, Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast) plus tons of outdoors options and you've got a winning combination. I hope to return to Brisbane again!
Bro, well done on showing some of Brissy's hot spots! I live on the Sunny Coast and the kids and I love visiting Brissy. Suncorp stadium should get a mention too. I think it's the best large stadium in Oz to watch sports as well as a world class band or entertainer every now and again. Cheers.
Lived in Brisbane from 2007 to 2015, was fantastic and I enjoyed it, but the sad reality is it's become too expensive and real estate unaffordable for too many people, makes me sad as I planned to move back in 2025 after 10 years in a rural setting, but now that dream is gone
Yeah, I hear you. Its a lot like that for me back home as well, unaffordable housing where you need it most. I looked at home values around Brissy, just out of curiosity, and was surprised it was almost on the same level of cost as back in the states..
Wow that’s crazy to hear. I moved here from NZ two years ago because NZ was getting ridiculously overpriced. For us, Brisbane is still roughly a third cheaper than living in Wellington or Auckland… And we make far more.

Area-wise, Brisbane is about the biggest city, including it's suburbs of all cities. It's massive and people are beggining now, to sleep on the streets with their children because they can't afford a home or a rental. It's wonderful if you're looking from outside.
Each city has something different to offer. Why not live in all of them? Buy a house in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Perth, Canberra and Darwin. Or 9 units apartment.

Brisbane is actually gigantic but if you're a tourist you'll probably never explore out of the CBD and surrounding suburbs (like the guy in this video)
I’m a person that currently lives in Brisbane here to give you some fair warning about 2 things if you’re planning to move here: 1. Cost of living is nothing to sneeze at (pretty pricey at times especially if you’re near and in the city). And 2. During the day it’s usually pretty chill but at night around 10 people that are moody and can’t handle their liquor (in the worst way possible) come out and I suggest you don’t stick around or keep the interacts with any of those people to the bare minimum if at all possible. Apart from that the city pretty peaceful for the majority of the time.
Tell her Brisbane is smack bang in the middle of two of the best coastal regions of the world.. Gold coast and the Sunshine coast.. Best beaches and the waves are way bigger than Perth's beaches.. After a while when I was in Perth I got sick of all the dam sand everywhere.. In Brisbane you'll never have this issue 😊
@Paul Fri Before we came to Australia in 1970, dad was offered a job as an engineer in Brisbane. The only reason we didn't come was the house didn't sell. Then offered job in Perth, house sold and we came.
@@vickersonp Yeah, I know. I was making a joke by saying what is the "story" behind the Stoney bridge 🤣🤣🤣. Although, I thought it was spelled Story not Storey, as per Google Maps 🤔
Over grown country town.. Finally they're adding more density to the CBD and middle ring suburbs.. The old run down Queenslander homes back in the day didn't help the cities reputation..
Melbourne and Sydney people always bring up their “culture”, dining or beaches, but 90% of people never appreciate any of it because they have to live too far away from anything because only the wealthiest can actually afford to live close to the culture/restaurants/beaches 😂
that's not true. I lived 15 years in Melbourne within a 5 km radius from the city on a pension. I had easy access to everything, food, culture, entertainment, and all affordable. Unlike Brisbane where you are lucky if you can get a coffee or a feed after 2pm. Easy public transport from almost anywhere to anywhere. Unfortunately the climate is not so good.
Blessed day! Beautiful Lady 🌹 You’re Damn Gorgeous 🌹 I’m so sorry for barging into your message box. You must have been the second woman GOD created after eve. If Brisbane doesn't have a proper beach then it can't be best Australian city. Perth is the stand out city in Australia. But Brisbane for sure appear to be doing the right things.
I get it, Brisbane hosting the Olympics in a several years. But its simply cannot compete with the world cities of Melbourne and Sydney. Brisbane's tier is completing for a 3rd spot with Perth and Adelaide... that being said it's a nice place
interestingly by 2050 Melbourne is tipped to top Sydney population wise and Brisbane to catch Sydney. All this is well and good and given the interstate migration from the southern states to "Greater" Brisbane the biggest issue for those living there is whether the infrastructure will keep up with the population growth. There is more than enough fun and sun to compete with the southern cities hence the migration north just that infrastructure issue...
Every city will slowly suck the life out of you. Brisbane will do that that to. On top of that, the extreme dull and sleepy atmosphere (not much is open) will speed up the grey hairs.
I didn't get a chance to venture too far outside the city, except maybe further out into the Gabba but I think they're slowly revitalizing some areas. Good point John
Just FYI people that have lived in Brisbane for 20+ years didn't want anyone from Victoria or NSW to move here during covid.... You all litterly ruined Brisbane... Before covid Brisbane was great to live in but now it costs the same as Sydney and Melbourne to live in, litterly ruined by over population
Brisbane has gone from a nice friendly city to a traffic nightmare. Takes hours to get anywhere. Public transport is poor at best. Peak hours are the worst by far. The City Cat is the best way to get around if you live near the river. The"Valley" is the worst place to be after dark... a shithole.
I get it, it's not up to speed for public transport like some modern cities but I think with all the money being put forth over the years, it will hopefully be more accessible. The valley has a small space in my heart, even if it's a shithole 😆
Brisbane is great but since the housing crisis 9/10ppl have been priced out of the city. Any advantage to living in Brisbane is now gone bcoz it's as expensive as Sydney/Melbourne.
The Federal government dont want to see Brisbane become like Sydney or Melbourne. A few years ago , I was driving from Sydney to Brisbane, I was shock the Pacific Highway only 1 lane on each side unlike Melbourne-Sydney 2 lanes on each side. The 21 century , people catch plane to travel not driving car like in the old days and government refuse to invest on the Pacific Highway. Can you imagine how many Australian die on Pacific highway with their Holden Commondore? If you think Brisabne going to be Top city , you have rock in your head. All the big boys from the big end of town will not allow the Queenslanders growing up. keep oi oi oi and it hurt so much.
@@snoopy13946 That good , i want to drive to goldcoast and brisbane a few times, but everytime I though of 12 hours drive like before covid 19, then forget it. Catching plane cheaper but I enjoy stop along and see the scenery and town centre
@@VanTran-ne4yf Now you can. After Newcastle heading north it’s essentially a dual carriage motorway most of the way with six lanes at times. It’s smooth and easy
You say "Brisbane has the most Australian culture". Please define Australian culture. If you can measure it, as you imply you have, you must have defined it. Throughout my lifetime Australian culture has always been changing. I will be interested in your definition.
Thank you for asking. I didn't mention in the video when I went to the Queensland Cultural center where the art center and performing arts center both are (didn't film inside). There is so much to discover on Australia's past, present, and future among this whole complex. I know Australia is rich in its multi-divercity and the vibe all around from a cultural perspective is the open-mindedness and open-hearted approach to life that Aussies have. It's subtle but it's there and it's one of the biggest takeaways for me when visiting a certain country/continent. The authentic food scene in Sunshine Coast was also notable, I wish I could have dived in it more during my last video. Hopefully I explained it a bit. I'm obviously still learning but that has been part of my takeaway from my visit
@@leodoeslife_ Thank you Leo, you explained it well, thanks. I presume from what you say that you are not yourself Australian. In fact I think you're probably a yank, or from continental Europe. Your spelling of centre as center is a real give-away. Oh, and you are in deep trouble too. I, myself, live on the Sunshine Coast and you are in it up to your chin for not calling in me. (impossible, I know, but that doesn't matter, your still in it! I am only too glad that you enjoyed our country and its people. cheers Leo

There is nothing to do there after a week. Just doesn't have the population number to support a large variety of cultural events nor restaurants. It was the most boring city on my Australia trip. Lacks buzz or feel.
What exactly was different in the other cities? What are you comparing? Brisbane has the land area of Sydney (about 16,000 km2) but half the population. Where did (or didn't) you explore? Are you sure it was the city or was it ... 😅

Yeah that's fair. I'm sure cost of living is up there and it's always best to avoid any confrontations with people you don't feel safe around
Depends where you are in Brisbane Macklin. My suburb is really safe. I never lock the backdoor.
BINGO AND BLUEY WAS BORN IN BRISBANE AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 MATE
BrisVegas?
If I was to leave Perth, Brisbane would be my choice.
It's the wife that doesn't want to move.
Just wish Brisbane kept its trams because its a very hilly city like San Francisco it would be very handy these days..
I heard they're planning trackless trams to be released soon. Not sure on the logistics but it sounds promising 👍
Stony Bridge?
Lol yea I totally mispronounced it 😣
@@leodoeslife_
Good onya Leo. 😃
What's the story on the Stoney Bridge? 😂😂😂
@@EvolvedBonobo
The bridge is actually called the Storey bridge not the Stony bridge. Lol
@@vickersonp Yeah, I know. I was making a joke by saying what is the "story" behind the Stoney bridge 🤣🤣🤣. Although, I thought it was spelled Story not Storey, as per Google Maps 🤔
Used to be the joke of Australia. But Brisbane has certainly gone ahead in leaps and bounds.
Oh really? That's good to hear🤙
Corrupt politicians will do that!! Could say that's Melbourne now and it's cops also!!. 🤦🙄🤮
Over grown country town.. Finally they're adding more density to the CBD and middle ring suburbs.. The old run down Queenslander homes back in the day didn't help the cities reputation..
Still is the joke of Australia,,, tell everyone you know not to come here.
did you just call the valley endearing? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
lmao😆 yep
Could you write legend in portuguese please?
yes, sure thing! just added Portuguese subtitles to this video :)
Story Bridge, not Stony.
Thank you David, I realized the mistake after I uploaded the video. Cheers
Brisbane.
Blessed day! Beautiful Lady 🌹 You’re Damn Gorgeous 🌹 I’m so sorry for barging into your message box. You must have been the second woman GOD created after eve. And watch it all sink after the Olymics have gone in about a decade.
Indian guy in sydney. Is brisbane good for indians 😮
If Brisbane doesn't have a proper beach then it can't be best Australian city. Perth is the stand out city in Australia. But Brisbane for sure appear to be doing the right things.
True story. I've been wanting to visit Perth for some time and hopefully get to do so soon. Heard great things 👍
Oh, and never call it fucking Brisvegas! That'll get you a slap real quick.
😆😅 True
Perth 😭
I lived in Brisbane in the late 70s. I absolutely detested the place. A lot has changed since then, apparently.
I get it, Brisbane hosting the Olympics in a several years. But its simply cannot compete with the world cities of Melbourne and Sydney. Brisbane's tier is completing for a 3rd spot with Perth and Adelaide... that being said it's a nice place
For sure, it'd be sweet to check the smaller cities at a later date too
interestingly by 2050 Melbourne is tipped to top Sydney population wise and Brisbane to catch Sydney. All this is well and good and given the interstate migration from the southern states to "Greater" Brisbane the biggest issue for those living there is whether the infrastructure will keep up with the population growth. There is more than enough fun and sun to compete with the southern cities hence the migration north just that infrastructure issue...
@@mnewm21 Melbourne has topped Sydney's population Now .
Brisbane doesn’t want to compete or be anything like Sydney or Melbourne 😊
What about perth wa? )
Id love to visit someday! A few people I know just have recently gone off to Perth 🙏
Brisbane needs more higher density in it's middle ring suburbs.. Still way to low and so much development potential..
No thanks mate. If that the life style you want move to Asia.
Don't include gold coast as part of Brisbane lol
You know how to say Brisbane properly but not Melbourne?
Every city will slowly suck the life out of you. Brisbane will do that that to. On top of that, the extreme dull and sleepy atmosphere (not much is open) will speed up the grey hairs.
Yeah I guess in a way that's true. Personally, I like to live in a quiet green natural space
Bad experience here for the last 15 years, moving to Melbourne later this year, will be glad to be gone.
I hear you. Hopefully things will turn around for the better
If you move 3km away from Brisbane cbd, you will see Brisbane is 10 years behind Sydney and Melbourne.
I didn't get a chance to venture too far outside the city, except maybe further out into the Gabba but I think they're slowly revitalizing some areas. Good point John
Ridiculous statement! Everywhere didn't have to be a concrete jungle with fkn development killing habitats, trees idiot trees!!
Yep just a big ol’ country town
@@AlphaPrettyBoy and that’s the way we like it...
Even the CBD is 10 yrs behind. The city where hospitality shuts down at 2pm !!
Get out of Oz. It’s done
Lol
Brisneyland
Haha that's actually a pretty solid nickname
It's really not
Where are the black people? 😢
You can now drive from I think it was Gympie to Geelong in a dual carriageway at a minimum
I doubt they will, but with every expansion, problems arise. We will have to wait and see what the 2032 Olympic Games will bring 🙂
It’s now a motorway all the way from Brisbane to Sydney and quite a good one too.
I am only too glad that you enjoyed our country and its people.
cheers Leo
@@leodoeslife_ thanks Leo. I was born and raised in Brisbane. Have been living a few hours north this last decade so I've missed some changes which I'll check out on my next visit. I've always found it a friendly, easygoing city. Glad you did too.
@@neddyladdy next time friend! Thanks for being honest and open 🍻
@@whatbringsmepeace right on! I'm the same way in my home state and love discovering what's changed on an annual basis 🙂
I live here for my sins
You couldn't find someone who can pronounce Melbourne? And someone who doesn't know Southbank and West End aren't the same thing?
There is nothing to do there after a week.
Just doesn't have the population number to support a large variety of cultural events nor restaurants.
It was the most boring city on my Australia trip. Lacks buzz or feel.
What exactly was different in the other cities? What are you comparing? Brisbane has the land area of Sydney (about 16,000 km2) but half the population. Where did (or didn't) you explore? Are you sure it was the city or was it ... 😅
