- After leaving the "Lower 48", we headed to Banff for an incredible few days. The fires in British Columbia and Northern Alberta contributed to a thick haze, but we were lucky to have it clear a bit each day and let us enjoy some incredible scenery and views.
Elk greeted us the evening we arrived. The next morning, we celebrated our tenth anniversary with a hike along the Spray River followed by lunch and brews from Three Bears Brewery in downtown Banff.
With the smoke continuing to clear, we headed to Lake Louise and hiked from there to Mirror Lake, Lake Agnes, and Little Beehive mountain, taking in incredible views along the way. There were some avalanche fields that weren't passable, so we applied our "Semper Gumby" mentality and adjusted plans along the way. What a fun morning!
It was too short a stay and only allowed for the two hikes, but we certainly have Banff on our list of "to-return" places. The adventure continues!
Happy Anniversary!🥂🍾🎉😃
Thank you, Kathy!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Awesomeness! And thanks for the info on the 🇨🇦Annual Parks Pass👍👍 (& LOVE your Oliver hats!)
Love your visuals and observations (and Stormy) and sense of humor…
Thank you 🙏! The Parks Pass was well worth it and good for a year from the time of purchase. It will pay for itself on our next visit when we leave Alaska. Stormy thanks you as well 🐩.
still smoky here in Alberta. the fires are less. but there's still one or two out of control. glad you liked Banff & all she has to offer
We loved our time there, smoke and all. Looking forward t our next adventures in Alberta!
Congrats on your 10 years! Love your videos! Your Alaska trip is inspiring, makes me want to give it a go if I can talk the wife into it.
Thank you! We took baby steps. It's an incredible adventure, but definitely took some planning. Anyone with an adventurous spirit can certainly do it!
Thanks for a great video. Banff certainly is a favorite with me. I’m old but, no, they didn’t name Sprague River for me. 😉 The Spruce Grouse, I think, is called a Fool Hen: because they just sit and look at you. When we drove the Banff-Jasper Highway, the saw a sign that said Mountain Goats
Thanks for watching! That explains a lot about the grouse. Stormy almost got an easy meal 😆.
Congrats on 10 years. Great video. Yup a pine Marten. Hoping for Alaska next year. Great tips! Stay safe!
Thank you! We’ll put out some Alaska videos soon. Hope they have some helpful tidbits or inspiration for your own Alaska Adventure.
You two (three) are the best!!! Thank you. Thanks to your advice, we went with the twin Oliver. He fits .in the twin...🛌
Thank you 😊! That’s great to hear. We wish you many happy miles on your Oliver adventures!
Thanks for the video
Thank you for watching!
Happy Anniversary!

Thank you!
gorgeous, I need to make it there someday
It wasn’t really on our radar until planning our Alaska trip, but so glad we went and SO looking forward to going back one day. Hopefully with less smoke 😆.
Hello from Hull 293. Just saw your rig in the parking lot as we took the bus over from campground to the visitor center.
Small world! We’re just departing Denali today. Time to go looking for some King salmon to catch. Great to hear from another Oliver in the wild!
Happy Anniversary from Hull #1045😊
Thank you!
We also ate at Three Bears, although I only had a Caesar salad as I recall but the rest of the family seemed to enjoy the food (and beer). As for the Lake Agnes hike, you were indeed wise to turn back before trying to hike around the far end of the lake. It is a fairly narrow, somewhat off camber, and a little treacherous trail even when dry and with no snow, most especially the first part of the climb up towards Big Beehive. I would definitely not want to attempt it with snow. After about a kilometer or so, it becomes much easier and there is another trail that comes down the other side and brings you up behind Mirror Lake from a different direction, although some of the woods back there are so thick that it probably holds snow pretty late into the spring as well. Overall, a great long hike in nicer weather. On the other hand (as you alluded to), getting a parking spot at Lake Louise more in-season can indeed be a challenge.
Thank you! Great info for a future trip to Banff. We were very surprised to get a parking spot. When we got down the mountain, the parking lot was full. We definitely prefer the shoulder seasons, though it does sometimes make trails a bit more of a challenge.
@@HardAleeAdventures I was not on an RV trip last year when we went so we stayed at the big hotel right on the lake ($$) mostly just to avoid the hassle of dealing with it. They have some satellite parking lots as well with shuttle buses but those fill up also. Frankly, the whole thing sounds too much like a Disneyland situation if you go peak season and drive there in the morning. But man that lake is pretty.
@@thevagabondonwheels4918 that hotel looked pretty amazing and talk about great proximity to the trails! Yes, even in the shoulder months it was an absolute zoo. We were shocked at how crowded it was down by the lake when we got off the trails. The good news is it seems far fewer folks venture beyond Lake Agnes, so getting an early start on the trails and hiking beyond the masses still allows for a modicum of solitude. But downtown…that’s a whole different story 😆.
little guy was a pine martin
Thank you! That's what we were thinking, but hadn't seen one before. Much appreciated!
First LET’S GO!
It was such a blast!
