  • 🔰This is one of the poems that got me into poetry and I honestly hope I can do it justice with this video. The more I love a poem the hardest it is to make a video about it, my consciousness says that my work is never good enough to stand beside the poem. This is not a perfectionism issue, just my mind idealizing the poem and the impact it had on me. The concept of this video is to visualize the poem like a lucid dream the moment you start to realize that you are dreaming and everything you thought as reality is just a creation of your imagination, in other words, "You think it's made up inside your head". I don't want to analyze any further it kinda spoils the fun. I hope you enjoy it.

    🔰Mad Girl's Love Song by Sylvia Plath
    "I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
    I lift my lids and all is born again.
    (I think I made you up inside my head.)
    The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
    And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
    I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
    I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
    And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
    (I think I made you up inside my head.)
    God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:
    Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
    I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
    I fancied you'd return the way you said,
    But I grow old and I forget your name.
    (I think I made you up inside my head.)
    I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
    At least when spring comes they roar back again.
    I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
    (I think I made you up inside my head.)"

      @@DonnaSnyder I can't even relate to being a "mad girl" because I didn't even try to be in a relationship and I'm already brokenhearted. I don't know what to call myself. I don't know when connection will be formed, I too rely on self care activities to cope but lately I feel so tired for some reason and it feels so unfair that I don't have anyone to talk to.

    The despair and resignation in his voice when he reads it... Reading Plath poetry is such a personal experience for me but the way this guy reads it makes it feel like he understands exactly what this poem means for me (which is of course impossible but it just feels that way). And of course it couldn't be overstated how much your filming adds to the experience too... This whole thing, the filming, the music, the reading, it's such a beautiful expression of the poem, it's wonderful.

    I first fell in love poetry - I mean really fell in love with it - when I read this poem by Sylvia Plath. I love it so much. The poem itself, I feel, has something of a dreamlike quality. It's like you wonder if this love is even real. Sometimes, love can disappear as quickly as it appeared, leaving you wondering, was it even real to begin with? I've always felt a sense of sadness and loneliness when I read this poem. Something about it just makes my heart ache. I love this poem! And as usual, your work is brilliant. It goes well with the poem I think.

    Great work as always! The video was good, the music too and good choice for a poem, it's probably one of her only poems I really like, maybe I should read more of them. The only thing I would say is that for this poem, while Tom O'Bedlam is great, it would have been in my opinion better to have a feminine voice since it's a softer poem that was meant to be the story of a girl falling in love, so the heavy voice of Tom O'Bedlam was a bit weird to me. I don't know, that's just my opinion, but great work nonetheless.

    This seems like a more predominant female trait that I can relate too from experience with a very jealous girlfriend I once had. She went from either loving me or hating me. I noticed that when she loved me, the view of me in her head was not true, as I am no saint. And when she hated me, the view of me in her head was not true, as I am not a devil.

    Oooh this is perfect. The voice is perfect, but the music is also perfect. Why does the piano have such an immense power to reach inside us and bring out our deepest melancholy? And the images are also perfect. They seem to perch on the realm of nostalgia and illusionary peculiarity.

    Beautiful images. Sometimes the voice gets drowned out by the music, a pity.
