Small info to add, In private insurance you have to pay 1st, BUT here in germany you Don't pay at clinic they send you bill by post with bank details where you have to pay the bill and roughly you have 14 to 30 days to pay that bill. You can take private Dont take ottonova so bad reviews. If later you start work and your salary below 65k then you auto switch to public.

Hello, Yes, TK and AOK insurance are different from the insurance that you will register for your visa process. University will help you in that when you come here If you want you to enroll in this insurance, personally you can visit nearby insurance office and you just have to show them that you are a student here in Germany you just have to show them your enrollment certificate and they will give you insurance. You don't need to apply before landing.

My programme orientation starts from 12th September 2022 and my program starts from 3rd October 2022. Now I am confused which insurance should I buy because by the time I will reach Germany I will turn 30. So could you please guide which health insurance should I buy from India public or private?
Is there a new rule passed where private university students will need private insurance if they need to apply for a Resident permit. I have TK which I got by creating a blocked account by Expatrio. My university which is in Heidelberg informed me that my public health insurance won't be accepted if I apply for a Resident permit Could you please clarify?

Yes most of the people go for private insurance in this case because it’s cheap. You just have to pay 30-40 euros for it. mawista is one of them.

I would suggest go for public. Private insurance is not recommended.
