Truly beautiful!:) Started listening to Johnny a month or so ago as I started a new chapter of my life. It's incredible how soulful music he makes, it inspires me greatly.
Anyone who knows The Detectorists TV series will appreciate Johnny Flynn. He is shown singing the theme song in series 1. Also Queen Bee, the theme song of the film Emma, is his.
I’d do anything to hang out with Johnny Flynn, started listening to him in 2015 and I would listen to him before my rugby games and still do. If your ever in America and want to go fishing let me now Johnny Flynn! Thanks for being the best
Fare thee well My own true love Farewell for a while I'm going away But I'll be back Though I go 10, 000 miles 10, 000 miles My own true love 10, 000 miles or more The rocks may melt And the seas may burn If I should not return Oh can't you see That lonesome dove Sitting on an ivy tree She's weeping for Her own true love As I shall weep for mine Oh come ye back My own true love Come stay a while with me If I had a friend All on this earth You've been a friend to me
Johnny’s voice is a finely tuned instrument with the perfect accompaniment of his guitar. I would love to hear him live. Does he ever tour up t’north I wonder? I hope so. We shouldn’t miss out!
A lovely version! - not sure who wrote the original, but not Johnny Flynn. Mary Black did this song a while back, though hers is titled Fare Thee Well.
I think his guitar is an Epiphone which I first saw Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees playing a few years back. Bobby Hebb used one too. They have very special tone and resonance. ❤
Johnny's voice is like liquid gold ❤
Johnny deserves a bigger audience

His music lends itself to life transitions, it seems❤
That's the best thing I've heard today❤
Live long, prosper, and keep creating your music. You lift hearts
Traditional English folk song from the 1700's - then it was known as 'The Turtle Dove!'.
You're a beautiful, beautiful Soul.
Thank you very much.
I don’t have a true love. But you have a beautiful style so real and true
I don’t need anything if I listen to Johnny flynn.
This gave me goosebumps then quiet tears
Where do i find the lyrics?? I need it

OBSESSED!! It reminds me of my love for Scotland. Even 10,000 miles away still want to return to my true love.
Fare thee well
My own true love
Farewell for a while
I'm going away
But I'll be back
Though I go 10, 000 miles
10, 000 miles
My own true love
10, 000 miles or more
The rocks may melt
And the seas may burn
If I should not return
Oh can't you see
That lonesome dove
Sitting on an ivy tree
She's weeping for
Her own true love
As I shall weep for mine
Oh come ye back
My own true love
Come stay a while with me
If I had a friend
All on this earth
You've been a friend to me

Touring in 2024
Johnny Flynn, your music is for me a masterpiece. Saudações do Brasil!
Wonderful
I’ve listened to it at least 100 times. Other worldly.
So lovely. Amo
ooo lovely
This is one of the most unappreciated songs in the world. I'm sure this will blow up at some point in the future.
No it won't. It's an aqcuired taste. It is beautiful.
Lol,
It's a traditional, you goofs! It is well known in history
Lovely!
AND I WILL WALK 10.000 MILES AND IIIIIIIIIIII WILL WALK 10.000 MORE
Love the guitar - sparing but expressive.
Divino Johny. Su voz tan particular y sus canciones tienen una profundidad que realmente enamora ❤
Check out his album ‘a Larum’ .... it’s sublime
Someone else told me to also 🤗

Adore you music and voice. Спасибо! Nara from Tatarstan
What a beautiful song!
Johnny Flynn💕💕💕
Nic Jones deserves a mention methinks !
You and Mary Chapin Carpenter make this song a forever song.
Me encanta lo que hace! Que bello ser. Aquí desde la cuarentena Argentina escuchando! 😍😍😍😍
So good so good
Lovely.
Lovely. Heavily indebted to the Nic Jones version, but that's a good thing to be indebted to.
Spot on. I'd never heard Nic sing it but the guitar accompaniment made me think of Nick Jones straight off.
He mentioned that it was after the Nic Jones version in his intro on Folk on Foot
❤👏👏👏
remember first hearing this song in fly away home. such a beautiful song
I am also looking for a true love ,Beautiful Theme
..... No puedo dejar de ver sus labios y sus ojos mientras canta..... Realmente puede enamorar con solo mirar hacia ti..... ❤️
Love this 🤗

I think it might be a 'traditional'.. seems I heard it in the 69's, too
I think this arrangement was based on the one recorded by Nic Jones.
Maybe Altan? Or maybe this is one of them folk songs that are passed down for generations. In any case, I liked Altan's. 😊

It's a traditional English folk song dating back to the 1700's.
♥️
Don't you listen Burt Janch?
How sadness can offer so lovely music?...
👏🏼💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Does he still have that quitar with the metal middle
Yup! He does.
I think his guitar is an Epiphone which I first saw Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees playing a few years back. Bobby Hebb used one too. They have very special tone and resonance. ❤
Nic Jones used to sing this
Nic Jones ❤❤❤
Can anyone point me to a tab for this? the videos right there why can't I figure it out? 😅

Mr. Knightly hi
Your music is delicious
I love this song , so much that i recorded a cover of it , you can give a look and tell me what you think about it
Love his music, but the movies he chooses to be in suck.
I don’t need anything if I listen to Johnny flynn.
