Jin yet it causes Dave Ramey to not realize he’s wrong in so many ways. Maybe he should listen to the thousands of financial professionals that criticize his financial advice with simple math.

I started to listen/watching Dave Ramsey for about a month now. I learn to live below your means & stop living pay check to pay check. I thought I needed a bigger
raise. It's not how much money you need, it's what your doing with your money.

I had amazing parents, but I had to learn about money on my own.
I bought a house 20 years ago and knew nothing about money. I was making half of what I make now.
It was a struggle but I still have the house. It’s almost paid for. It’s worth more than double what I paid for it.
    I’m thankful I have it.

I am not from the states but I guess money stress is universal. I live simply and I don't really mind what other people said but I still went into debt when I shouldered my late grandmother's medical bills and funeral, because nobody else is universal the family is willing... some are able but lacks willingness and I guess the stupidest thing I did was guaranteed someone else's loan and they didn't pay so I had too. I'm trying my best to dig myself from this hole, I learned now that kindness may be abused, I'll be careful from now on.

At the age of 28 (1988) I was single and had a full time job with benefits. . I moved into my first apartment yes, at 28 but did pay my folks some rent each month. My apartment was a Jr. one bedroom. I owned my car (a 1973 mustang) Because I lived at home up until that time I was able to put away a substantial nest egg. I wasn't making a ton of money but enough that I could support myself. Because of my income my ability to date was limited and girls did not want to invest time with me. I accepted that. I called it financially aware. Everyone used to say...Why not buy a house? When are you going to get married? When are you going to have kids? "Why don't you go back to school? Why do you drive an old car? I used to laugh when they'd ask me that and respond "I'm not trying to impress you".
In short, I agree with everything Ramsey says. By making the decisions I did before I was 30, I truly, truly avoided a lot of financial stress and completely avoided and ignored peer pressure. The money I freed up I was able to invest. A lot of folks who went the opposite way are literally looking good and going nowhere.

I appreciate you posting these rants. I've been working since 2002 and hearing how bad the economy was since 6 years before the recession. It's really not that bad out there. You can do pretty well for yourself as long as you maintain a can-do, non-entitlement mindset and aren't afraid to work. I missed the part in your rant about using government handouts as a way to proserity... oh right, it's not in there.

Dont ask me how we manage to not ever let money come between us. But we sure dont know how to stay out of debt. 2 bankruptcy and still in the same cycle creating over 200,000.00 dollar debt with a 55,000.00 income. This is not easy to write to you about this. But we need help.

Dave, Financially i'm a mess but I just started out with your book the total money makeover. Coincidentally like you I grew "Sick and Tired" of being "Sick and Tired". It was so bad when I reached for the above text I went to the Half Priced Book Store just to get my hands on it. I'm plugged into your wisdom and experience and have a long road to trudge. Thanks for sharing your life experiences financially. I look forward to the healing.

I was stupid. I took student loans so we could live off of them while I went back to school. Was unable to graduate because I have a disorder dyscalculia, that I didn't know about, I now we can't pay our mortgage because of those loans $40K and 2 car payments and 2 credit cards. Stupid stupid stupid.
