Nicely edited Rachel! Wasn't sure how much of me rambling you would use but came out great! 😁 @19:15 I say "fungal pressure" and to clarify, I mean fungal pathogen pressure. The good fungi compete against the fungal parthenogens like oomycetes, and even bacteria strands like actinobacteria. The pathogenic fungi or bacterial strands are not uniform and don't have clear septa. Great collaboration!
@@BotanicalBasil Good question. Well in actinobacteria its a chain of bacteria so just looks like a clear strand. Where most beneficial fungi have thick, clear cell walls(septa). Pathogens like oomycetes(mold/fungi) will have very rare septa. Just different species feeding differently. Guess they don't need as many cell wall divisions and or nucleoids.
Thank you. I learned so much from some of these videos.
Verry interested in this sort of thing.
Thank you for the research on underground life in your continental zone. 🙂
So cool! Good job on your soil!
This is fascinating!
This was an interesting look below the surface!
I love how gardeners eventually end up becoming scientists. We are all just backyard scientists in the making.

Pathogenic fungi generally don't have clear septa? Why is that?

That was really cool.
I absolutely loved going through the footage! So interesting.
