This isn’t about what you are doing now but I am looking for local information. I live in Slidell (across the lake from New Orleans). I bought one of the 7 tier tower planter from Hoss Seeds to plant strawberries in. I have twice attempted to purchase starts from online nurseries and I keep being told that I can’t grow them in my area. The LA. Strawberry Festival takes place about a half hour 45 minutes from me why can’t I grow them in my backyard? Could you tell me when I should plant strawberries 🍓 and where is it best and as reasonable as possible to get the starts or plants? I found some plants last year but they wanted $8 each and I was hoping for something a little cheaper. Thanks 😊
I usually order them from Stark Brothers or Gurney's. However, I usually pick up some from Lowes or Walmart and they do just fine. Tractor Supply probably has them as well but never really looked. We are supposed to have planted them in September to October. The berries don't like to fruit a bunch once the temperatures are consistently above 80 deg F.
Thank you for the answer. As I need quite a lot of plants to fill the tower I can’t afford to buy them at big box stores as they want $8 per plant. That is why I was trying to order starts and kept being told I couldn’t grow them. I may just have to buy a few plants and continue to fill the rest of the tiers with runners. I also want to see if I can get some from local strawberry growers. Again thanks for your time in answering me.
Great job looking good That’s some great looking soil Keep it Organic God Bless
Organic is the way to go. Most definately!!
Looks good.
They really do make the garden look nice and most importantly, I don't have to replace every 5 years or so.
Hey everyone hit the like button
Thanks Larry!!

No problem, please let me know if you find some local growers as I'd be interested!!
We shop Cleggs too!!!
We hit the one on Siegen usually. We used to go to Naylors but the went under I think when it flooded so Cleggs is my go-to now.
Denham Springs on 16..closer to our house
It's all good, either one!!
Yeah, like this thing I’m just all about China. Do you think we’re almost free but it looked like it last for a long time
The price was right and definitely why I bought it. I would rather buy USA but they are significantly more expensive.
"promosm"
Why?
