I always thought the Other Mother was the same species as Pennywise from It except instead of feeding on the fear of children she feeds on their love. That's my personal theory anyway
When you were talking about how the Beldam hurt so many people in her past but then felt different when she met Tom Keats, I was just thinking about this line in the bug room where she said, “They say even the proudest spirit can be broken, with love.”. That sort of symbolizes how her love for Tom Keats changed her.

My theories on Mr bobinsky is that he sends the mouses to tell coraline to save the dead kids and since Mr bobinsky said "don't go thrue little door " I think he knew everything
Yes, I reached the same conclusion! Although I’m not sure about the part of her not having a soul...In the book, one of the spirits of the children has butterfly wings and eats flowers. I have a theory that she was the Beldame’s original daughter, that’s why she’s also a fairy. Also, I’m autistic and changelings were mainly a way to explain autism back in the day (alongside other disabilities but mostly autism) so I deeply relate to the changeling myth (and have a special interest in fairies) but I also happen to relate a lot to Coraline as well and many other autistic people do too and many believe she’s also autistic. She may or may not have been written with this intended, but regardless, I wonder if maybe Coraline is also a changeling herself; in the book, the other mother says “No one will listen to you, really listen to you. You're too clever and too quiet for them to understand...” and this quote really stood out to me
The way the Ghost children describe their upbringing, it seems she feeds off souls of children, which could imply she could be something Demonic. Edit: In the scene where she asks Coraline to sew buttons over her eyes, her head is in front of the deer skull hanged on the wall, which makes it look like horns are coming from her head when aligned right.
She's a witch. Lol, what do witches do? They sacrifices people mostly children. If you look at the story/folklore of the Beldam, and you'll understand a little more. Idk 🤷♀️ just a thought lol
This is for the people who skipped the video, so here is the summary : The person who is voicing the video basically talks about the other-mother's name the "Beldam" and how it can also mean Bell Dame (which means witch), and there is a poem named after that. She then takes parts of the poem and relates it to her eyes, looks, personality, and other stuff. She also says Beldam means fairy's child and that if she was a changeling (a fairy with a disability that was swapped with a human) she most likely went evil. She then says that the man the Beldam loves died, and since fairies don't have souls, when she dies, she will never meet her loved one's soul again. Make sure to watch part two and I hope this helped :)
I just realized that on coraline the dead girl is the grandmas sister and I realized they were trying to warn her she was in danger and the other mother is a trap where everything’s better so she can sew buttons and kill them and on the scene when she was at the garden the other father said I’m sorry mother made me
My theory is that the Beldam used to live where Coraline lives now, and got into the other world. She loved it there and decided to make her eyes buttons. However, instead of the other mother at that time eating her and trapping her soul, she became the daughter of that other mother. She was taught how to lure other children into the other world, and became the sibling or friend of the child they were luring in had one. The Beldam started becoming older and learned a lot from her other mother. After a while, there were no more children moving in. The other mother and other father died and had dust/sand coming out of them. Finally, once the Beldam became an adult, Coraline moved in. I think that the Beldam can only live by eating children, so that’s why she wanted Coraline to stay so badly. I think this because when Coraline gets all of the eyes and tries going back to her world, the Beldam says, “DON’T LEAVE ME, DON’T LEAVE ME! I’LL *DIE* WITHOUT YOU!” That also might be why the Beldam uses her hand to get Coraline and bring her to the door. I hope everyone who reads this likes my theory! :)
OMG- I LITERALLY UNDERSTOOD WHY SHE NEEDED SOULS, SHE DIDNT HAVE A SOUL, SO SHE DECIDED TO TAKE KIDS SOULS, TO MAKE THEM HERS, SO SHE COULD SEE TOM KEATS- IN HER AFTER LIFE..

I don't think people realise that coraline never left the world in the first place at the end since the cat could still do his tricks this is why I think we need a number 2
@Isabelle Augustine He doesn't. When Coraline goes to the other world while her mom is food shopping the cat watches her go through the portal from the window. Immediately after that you can see the cat pass by a window in the other world while Coraline is crawling out the door (It's the window on the right). And in the book the cat says something like "the ways in and out of this world have gone flat" when the other world is falling apart (That's why he has to stay with Coraline).
When Coraline is exploring the house, there is singing in the background. Although they aren't singing actual words, it could be the Beldam casting a spell and preparing the 'perfect world' for Coraline. She may actual be speaking a a language that fairies speak or something.
I remember when I was watching coraline when that other dad was "playing" the piano, I literally heard him say "our eyes are on Coraline" you probably know this by now tho-
The fact that I’m an adult and even after watching this movie for years I still get a little creeped out and check over my shoulder to make sure the other mother doesn’t get me😂
I HAVE A THEORY- Coraline is living in a dream, and the Beldam is a dream in the dream. And whenever Coraline gets away from her other mother, Coraline is still in a dream, but the dream that the Beldam was in, is taken away. Thats why when the last time Coraline goes home, her parents are clueless about everything. And about the buttons, The beldam wants Coraline to sew buttons in her eyes, so she can stay there forever and help the Beldam drag more kids in. And then locking Coraline away where the kids with no eyes were, making it harder for people to escape.
For the people stating she eats children's souls. That is a fact the ghost children literally say "she left us her and ate up our lives." This theory however doesn't make sense to me.
She feeds on their love. She makes everything good for them so they can love her, but in return they never got to grow up and meet their potential. She is the devouring mother. She only indentifies as mother and having no children meaning she doesnt exist to herself..... the real mother in the reality isnt as perfect, she is busy, but still loving and in an imperfect world Coraline gets to grow and develope. Thats the main difference, Coralines real mother has her own identity, she is not just a mother and doesnt project that onto Coraline, but Beldame is only there if there are children to love at expence of their well being.
@@maceyy9270 Soo... if u want a bit of theories.. Here: “One Door Closes, Another one opens” I’ve read the book and it describes that theres another tunnel, that leads to a Cellar, and it has a creature FAR MORE DANGEROUS than the Beldam. 😙 It is hot and icky and moist, thats how Coraline described it. 😰
Being without pity, and being without 'mercy'( merci) are different in thier nuance. Being without mercy has a connotation of more malice than being without pity. Also...the 'Belle Dame' in Keets poem may have been a metaphor for the disease of Tuberculosis itself. It's has literally been typified by its wasting away of the body, the pale parlor and the feverish eyes and flushing ot causes. This is often been miscast in poem and story as giving a woman a heightened beauty and attractiveness...it is also a well known trope. The Fae didn't necessarily exchange the child if it was defective, Humans in the Fae Court as servant or pets were thought to be prizes they sought. And sometimes they just like chaos. And we call the Fae Good or Evil by our own subjective morality....one they'd not share, nor use in thier own decisions. Also, they range in thier lifespans...most are immortal..... How do I know all this....?) I'm a Witch dear Heart ...and you'd call me old, but I'm not ugly....or female...as for wicked...Ehhhh,we Witches tend to be like the Fae....Good.....Evil...depends on the day, and who your asking.....
It's also possible that the fairy in Keats's poem was entirely his creation, that one of the children who were captured happened to know the peom, and started calling the creature that captured them by that name.
There is a part in the movie where the other father says “her strength is our strength” I wonder what that means it reminds me of the show Wanda-Vision tho….
Oh i know how about this i just made it up remember those child or children that the other mother locked up i feel like that's why she wants coraline to eat her soul and she will live if she keeps eating says she will live that's why she live 300 years i forgot
Nah Neil Gaiman wrote it for her daughter, and the house on the story is based on their actual house they had so her daughter can easily picture every detail
Here’s a another fact from Coraline: with the cake that says “Welcome home” in fancy words. If the O has double loops that means they are Lieing. So the double O was in the “home” that means she welcome but she’s not home…
When I was watching a video about Coraline after I have read the book something hit me. One of the ghost children wasn't a human like the other two. It was a fairy because the girl had butterfly wings. Does that mean that fairies do have souls? if yes, then the beldam does have a soul, but if so, why does she need other souls?
The other mother is actually a spider that feeds on children instead of a fairy/changeling. The poem or John Kete has nothing to do with the beldam, but I love that your making these theories! :)
Ok, let me just say that I just LOVE your voice! You have SO much charisma and excitement that it really gives your videos an amazing experience! Thanks for making these theories, I love Coraline so much! xD
The cat thorie was maybe she wants zomeone to love.. But might be like she needs a childs love back to survive and the souls of kids eyes is something she needs too.
she never cared about hurting or losing anyone because she didn't feel the pain but when she truly fell in love for the first time he dies and that scares her and she becomes evil.
My great aunt named Cariline went missing in a townhouse. It's funny how Noone but her sister noticed. My suspicion is based on the coraline thing. With the twins, as my great aunt Cariline was twins with my great aunt Ceecee. So.... And, they had a door, like a normal door but it was slightly smaller than normal ones- about enough to fit my great aunt Cariline in ( standing up ) but they had no key. And the our family owned that house for 6 generations. ( Also I'm living in the house rn. But we blocked the door off with wallpaper so my brother has his own gaming room )
But beldam in actually a human like she owns the pink palace (don't believe meh? re-watch the movie in slowmo) and I have two theories 1. The beldam could have used her own soul to make the other world 2.the talking cat in the other world isn't the real black cat we know. THE TALKING CAT IS THE PERSON WHO IS THE ONE WHO IS EVIL well the real cat is the father of wybies grandma and her sis cause you know why the real cat is so so so close to wybie? Yup its because he wants to make it up by protecting wybie, after he lost his twin daughter (also the father re-borned as the cat to protect wybie) and the talking cat isn't the other black cat well.... It's the one who could have made Ashley get into the well (the well is connected to the other world) and the talking cat forced her to eat childrens souls, it is very clear that Ashley loves children cause after soo long she only killed 3 children and the beldam feeds the talking cat with the childrens souls and if Ashley try escape, it will kill her instantly and also I have bad news.... As you know coraline escapeed from the beldam and even threw the key in the well (it means the beldam got the key) beldam won't die because if coraline didn't throw the key into the well then after Ashley's death coraline is the next beldam......and I think we can expect alot in coraline 2 and beldams obsessed with spiders and bugs so that explains the wallpaper, the other world furniture and her food and she looks like a spider and she really changed her own body parts with metal parts.. (Ashley's the one who is beldam)
@woozle that's true, but dont forget, a, this is tim burton we are talking about. B, sure, a movie can be easy for kids to follow along with but doesnt necessarily mean that there is no lore. Like in FNAF, some people see it as a game, or a book series, others see it as a mystery waiting to be uncovered. Also, kids most likely arent going to be looking at lore
she definitely escaped, you see her crawling through the corridor, the corridor is i's own thing, so the beldam can't control it and make it seem like she escaped when she never actually did.
i keep thinking the Beldam also had a doll of herself when she was younger, and i’m thinking someone else was the beldam and someone sewed he eyes to buttons but didn’t die, and she wanted revenge, so then she became the Beldam. i don’t know, i’m not sure, it’s a theory i made myself 😅

This comment reminds me of dusttale papyrus undertake au if you know the fandom you’ll understand what I mean
I don't like this theory either
@@nemesiszodac6001 Nope never seen it but I hope thats a good thing? Lol
She hasn’t died yet because she uses the childrens souls to stay alive
Ohhh thats why when coraline escaped from the spider the spider said:
“DONT LEAVE ME DONT LEAVE ME I WILL DIE WITHOUT YOU”
@@parrot9543 yep!
@@_yeamari_3147 the story is so scary lol
well duh ur not original
Coralline’s soul was the strongest, (as in Hocus Pocus) Other Mother would be immortal if she inhaled it
They need to make a second movie for this. I’d love to watch it with my friends or s/o
hello, they actually are making one! in 2022
@@idioticshadow-v-2852 hi, and thanks for telling me!
@@maceyy9270 np! :)Wait the title also said: One door closes, Another One Opens! Yeeeee 😀
@@idioticshadow-v-2852 😃
@@maceyy9270 Soo... if u want a bit of theories..
Here:
“One Door Closes, Another one opens” I’ve read the book and it describes that theres another tunnel, that leads to a Cellar, and it has a creature FAR MORE DANGEROUS than the Beldam.
How do I know all this....?)
I'm a Witch dear Heart ...and you'd call me old, but I'm not ugly....or female...as for wicked...Ehhhh,we Witches tend to be like the Fae....Good.....Evil...depends on the day, and who your asking.....
It's also possible that the fairy in Keats's poem was entirely his creation, that one of the children who were captured happened to know the peom, and started calling the creature that captured them by that name.
"I don't wanna be mean"
"Girl kill it"
I love this it's soooooo cool
And honestly made me laugh 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah I really like the theory of the Beldam being a fairy/changeling, reminds me of Maleficent.
I read that poem in online school a couple days ago , she had to be an evil witch that can disscise herself as a fairy like creature
“I don’t wanna be mean but you know” STOP🤣😭🤚
There is a part in the movie where the other father says “her strength is our strength” I wonder what that means it reminds me of the show Wanda-Vision tho….
Wait do you know how when coraline escaped the beldam said “I can’t live without you!” Is there any explanation to that?
Edit: I know now
she has to feed on childrens souls so she can continue living.
@@greezza7404 ohhhh but theres gonna be a part 2 in 2022 so idk bout dat
@@Shellfishh yep!
Oh i know how about this i just made it up remember those child or children that the other mother locked up i feel like that's why she wants coraline to eat her soul and she will live if she keeps eating says she will live that's why she live 300 years i forgot
@@Sophiayk1 WHAT??-
Ok but like, can we appreciate how well she read the poem lines??
It's crazy how Coraline is based on the true story in the 1920's
Wait it’s real?!
WAIT- ITS REAL????
@@ysiaa534 I don't think it is, because this is impossible to happen
Nah Neil Gaiman wrote it for her daughter, and the house on the story is based on their actual house they had so her daughter can easily picture every detail

Ugh I love your Coraline theory's pls make more!😌💗 Love your Videos!
I agree she grows weird and malicious when her children find out she’s evil and she feeds soul that’s what Pennywise does
I love how she’s so nice to the other mother even when she’s bad.
HAHAH WHEN SHE SAID “ girl kill it” LMAOO
When
The sad thing is they remove Coraline from Netflix and I don’t think we can get it back;-;
It’s on TH-cam. Very clear.
@Isabella Vaccaro yeah it's really weird movies are like never on youtube🤷🏾♀️
ya sad!
@Isabella Vaccaro I guess so but shut it ia got a dvd of it
And there is Apple TV. U gotta buy it. But firstly it’s C R E E P Y .
Did you know in the beginning of the movie the sewing supplies the beldam uses is actually MURDER weapons if you don't believe me check❤
Here’s a another fact from Coraline: with the cake that says “Welcome home” in fancy words. If the O has double loops that means they are Lieing. So the double O was in the “home” that means she welcome but she’s not home…
Her name sounds scarier than she is herself I- Especially when you say "The" it sounds like the world's famous champion monster.
👁️ 👄 👁️
And fighting John Cena today is *THE BELDAMMM*
It makes since that she’s a changeling because that explains how she was able to look like the parents of her previous victims
I’d give the beldam a hug :( her backstory is so sad

This isn't real it's a theory.
The other mothers not bad she said she would die if coralline left her, the bad thing is the tiny door.
Haha “AND UG... well I don’t wanna be mean but ugly” 😂
Most important the part where the other mother button eyes become real eyes how?
When coraline is coming back to save her parents.
Wait if fairy's can travel through dementions then... is the cat a fairy
Oh, Smart!
i have a theory where the cat is an escaped child and that’s how it can teleport around and knows the beldam so well
No the cat actually is not an fairy She the cat went through the portal just that misses ugly forgot to close it
No, cause cats walk within two worlds. Cats have their own mythology.
Girl pop off!, ur just like me bc you always have alot a evidence connecting shows and shows together!
The other mother is actually a spider that feeds on children instead of a fairy/changeling. The poem or John Kete has nothing to do with the beldam, but I love that your making these theories! :)
Why is nobody talking about how she said " I don't want to be mean but..."
I was just looking for a comment about that part. 😔
The fairy ring just pulls the changeling thing together-
She is malicious and Ug-
Well , I don't wanna be mean but.. you know
XD
This video has so much detail and evidence, that it seems super true. And also, pretty scary
I thought she was a spider 🤭 but witch is even scarier 😱
My favorite character is the other wybie I feel bad for him:(
SAME he’s actually my fav character both Wybies really
@@laurynwoods4729 yeah
I love how you make everything make sense instead of just saying it and expecting people to understand. Also love ur videos keep doing it! 😊
Coraline was my favorite movie as a child and I just watched it after years. I’m terrified 😭 Maybe that’s what ruined me🧍🏻♀️🧍🏻♀️
Coraline scared the shit out of me when I was younger
So what you're saying is that the belden fell in love with a man but when he died that woman became evil because the love of her life died
And she can never control the pain
...
she never cared about hurting or losing anyone because she didn't feel the pain but when she truly fell in love for the first time he dies and that scares her and she becomes evil.
Ok or it’s fake or you frickin live In a film
I was tripping out the other night listening to you get so into explaining the Coraline movie in 4 TH-cam videos
The video: But they are a changeling-

Woah the captions caught this lol 0:35 “Your just in time for suffering dear.”

Coraline Wishing She Saw This 💀
Errbody:
Enjoying💀
Me: Knowing Coraline wanna see this video 🫠❤️❌
But beldam in actually a human like she owns the pink palace (don't believe meh? re-watch the movie in slowmo) and I have two theories
1. The beldam could have used her own soul to make the other world
2.the talking cat in the other world isn't the real black cat we know. THE TALKING CAT IS THE PERSON WHO IS THE ONE WHO IS EVIL
well the real cat is the father of wybies grandma and her sis cause you know why the real cat is so so so close to wybie?
"Changelings"
*My little pony PTSD flashback*
OMG THAS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT
I like how the thumbnail says “SAD TRUTH” and the title says “coraline theory”
Amazing vid btw 🧚🏼♀️✨💕
Are we also going to ignore the fact coraline never escaped the other mothers world as seen at the end.
Watching this takes me back to my nightmares after watching the movie
i keep thinking the Beldam also had a doll of herself when she was younger, and i’m thinking someone else was the beldam and someone sewed he eyes to buttons but didn’t die, and she wanted revenge, so then she became the Beldam. i don’t know, i’m not sure, it’s a theory i made myself 😅
