It's great that you refunded the Look XL for someone who had prepaid it but never returned to pick it up. You were not obligated to do so, but I think it shows a lot of integrity and compassion for what is likely an unfortunate situation.
How quickly things have changed. Only seems like yesterday we were still debating the benefits of disc brakes over rim brakes and even whether they were here to stay. Now..who would buy a new rim brake bike?? 🤷
I need to mention, I’m very disappointed SRAM has stopped manufacturing any rim brake components. I recently had the chance to buy some nice overstock carbon frames, but because the frames were SRAM eTap only, the components are too difficult to source, and I had to pass. Pretty ridiculous for filament wound frames that are around 6 years old. Maybe Campagnolo could develop a wireless electronic grouppo with rim brake options to help fill the void.
Why can't you use the new Dura-Ace 12 speed rim brake group set? What makes a bike "eTap only"? You mean there are absolutely NO shifting cable (wire) routings at all, what so ever?
The gear cable I could understand. That is metal. But a velcro strap, I woudn't have thought that would not even touch it. Oh well, something new is learned every day.
The specialized diverge looks interesting and in my budget. Too bad for international shipping west coast USA would jack the price up. In the market looking gravel frames that fit. Boderlline size 58-59 ( L-XL) and 60-61 (XL-XXL) on many brands.
Nice one. All businesses have to turn a profit, however, sometimes it has to be the case that one does the right thing morally and you did by fully reimbursing the customer or his / her family. Its not that i believe in kama but its the case that consistantly doing the right thing pays off.
I have been dreaming of the rim brake ADH in size XS since it was anounced, I litteraly have an Excel file 'Time ADH Rim Dream Build' 😅Your discounted frames are getting really close to my price range, if there was one in the right size I could almost afford it... So frustrating
Sad about the rim brake one. Rim brake lovers will rave on and on about them but when it comes to splashing cash on a new one few are hard to come by. Then the same people will wonder why manufacturers aren’t making more rim brake models.
@8:40 did the customer request the wrong bike (the ADH) or did you guys order the wrong bike (customer ordered ADHX and you accidentally forgot the “X”)?
This is kind of why the cycle industry is stupid, people expect crazy deals to the point retailers don’t really make any money and then also expect them to eat the cost of framesets when they change mind / circumstances…
Hey Paul, Great selection of frames without homes! I just sent a message via your website inquiring about the Look 765 Gravel RS. I look forward to your news. Cheers.
I think bike frames make for good decorations in bike shops. I like seeing bare frames up where the walls meet the ceiling. Kinda need a high ceiling for that though Never been on a road bike. Always skootin aboot Edinburgh on a hardtail MTB but if I were 50 miles closer I'd be down tomorrow for that black specialised! Hope it finds a good home and not on eBay or gumtree next week 😮
Mine doesn't. I have that exact frame, one year different. I also have the pre-disc Defy model that came after that one and uses the same seat post. That doesn't slip either. You're doing something wrong.
@@lastfm4477 well my did and I took it back and giant exchange it for a different bike . This is the reason giant have the the d shape post with the wedge to stop the seat post slipping . You can ask any giant engineer if you don’t believe but if your seat post does not slip I am happy for you. What people were doing back in the day was using cricket bat tape to stop the slipping. You can also ask durianrider as he spoken about this in the pass. I do not have the problem with the new design in my top model tcr
Well, retaining compounds are designed for metal-metal pairs, not for carbon-somesortofplastic, because they can react with some plastics. Difference in thermal expansion coefficients might also be an issue. The lack of education damaged a well-made frame. Sad.
Yep. Despite what the park tool says, and the instructions of some brands BB, we experimented and confirmed it doesn’t work with all types of plastic shell.
@@Hambini lol dude. Come to Vietnam. Forget reaming bikes and components, if you see what mechanics do you, you might kill someone. Recently when a guy went to service his BB, he metal strip from Coke can around the BB. People here are not worried about undersized or oversized stuff :).
@@Mapdec Totally disagree. Hearing about personal stories and the behind the scenes was a nice change of scenery from the usual videos. I thoroughly enjoyed that one.
Shame about those frames, lot of nice bikes there, the gravel looks nice - I'd love to rebuild my old cross bike into a gravel frame (bigger tyres and modern geo), but expect I'd just need too many parts to make it cost effective!
It's great that you refunded the Look XL for someone who had prepaid it but never returned to pick it up. You were not obligated to do so, but I think it shows a lot of integrity and compassion for what is likely an unfortunate situation.
Bloody hell, if only all bike shops were like Mapdec. Maximum respect. 👍👍👍👍👍
I think more bike shops really need to watch this and learn from excellence, love your work guys 😎🔥
Thank you 🙌
Good stuff and even better business practices! Very cool how you run your shop and the morals that drives it. Love this channel!
Interesting video format. Hope it helps you shift some of those frames, and that they find a good home.
Build that Campy Blade. We ALL need to see that!!!!!! PLEASE PLEADE PLEASE!!!!
If someone buys it 😎
That’s so awesome the things you do for your customers! Wish I lived closer to your shop, I would pick up that Spech, unfortunately I’m in California
The Leftovers: in my opinion, the greatest TV show ever made.
Right, now for the video.
Love rim brakes
Buy that unwanted frame, then
How quickly things have changed. Only seems like yesterday we were still debating the benefits of disc brakes over rim brakes and even whether they were here to stay. Now..who would buy a new rim brake bike?? 🤷
I've put press-fit bottom brackets in with 2-part epoxy Araldite , sounds extreme but does the job,and will remove at a later date.
Damn, I would have taken that Tifosi. Sold...
Ironically, I'm putting off the purchase of a disc brake bike, until I've worked my way through the garage full of rim wheels I have. 😂
Awesome video. Love the Cinelli
Can I just say Jake has really come into his own as a presenter.
I’ll let him know
The ADH Rim brake frame is very tempting... do you have a zero offset TIME seatpost for it?
According to Time website it’s a standard 27.2

@@lastfm4477 SRAM eTap is completely wireless, so there are no wire connections to derailleurs.
The Look gravel frame looks so good. Great geo but I feel like gravel frames that only clear 40mm are now obsolete. Pity because it’s a beauty.
1:50 how did a plastic bottom bracket make the Time BB oversized. the carbon is way harder than plastic?
Have you seen how a gear cable or even a Velcro strap destroys carbon with a bit of rubbing 🤷♂️.
@@Mapdecyeah, because they're harder

Did you get a quote from Hambini to make a BB for the Giant Defy? That'd be my goto for getting that bike back on the road.
His basic charge is £450. All it needs is a spare insert.
My brother lives in UK and is getting into cycling so I might send him you way.

Sums it up.
The rim brake Time...that didn't sell.
But "there's so much demand for rim brakes!"
😅
Ask the 100 Climbs guy, he likes Time rim brakes
ADHX at that price is an insanely good deal.
@8:40 did the customer request the wrong bike (the ADH) or did you guys order the wrong bike (customer ordered ADHX and you accidentally forgot the “X”)?
Yeah. We forgot the X
The Tifosi head tube looks huge for a 51..?
That does not look like any 51 that I've seen from other brands. Crazy tall
Too bad you can't ship the Specialized. I hope it finds a good owner. Good luck with the sale of them all.
Thank you. I think shipping would cost more than the bike.
Do you have the Time ADH RIM in XS and maybe unpainted ? I would be interested..
Nope. Sorry
