Well, I never played Katamari before but I only mentioned that on Pac Man Rally game. But when I heard that song called "Katamari On The Swing" for the first time, I guess he's right about that "curse" part.
Daniel Of Tamriel I had always been immensed seeing this game in stores on-screen, but when I finally got it I was blown away. The music helped out a lot with that, to the point where songs would go on repeat constantly. Trust me, no one blames you humming lol.

Man, I gotta love Takahashi. Katamari was a hugeee impact on my childhood. He was disappointed with the recycled tropes and took matters into his own hands, and created a damn near perfect ass game. Dude just wanted people to be happy while playing a game, and not to be stressed out by it and he did a good ass job of doing it. I can't believe the idea was almost rejected by Namco. Dunno where I'd be without this beautiful game
Having a time limit/size restrictions on different levels is crucial to what makes the game so great. It keeps you wanting to see what’s next. I remember wanting so badly to be able to just roll forever and see how much it could grow, which gave the final stage such a sense of catharsis and excitement. You think “ok, this must be as far as it goes.” and then you start rolling up mountains, cities, and continents.

I couldn't believe the amount of insane shit going on and I thought I was on drugs. Not to mention this soundtrack is my favorite one of any media. Wow, I really like Takahashi views on gaming. If you like motion control, more power to you but it always felt gimmicky to me, with games that weren't all the fun besides the quirk. Maybe there are some great one that i haven't played but I'll take a finely tuned normal controller based action game any day.
Motion control can work well, but only when it actually contribute to the gameplay, and isn't the focus of the game itself. VR and motion control may both be gimmicky, but when both are combined well, they fade into the background. Note that in this case, I do not refer to motion control for anything except the movement of the visor (which is a required component of many VR games anyway), and usually any other input source for such games would be better suited to a more traditional form. Offhandedly, I still think that playing Federation force as an entirely motion controlled VR experience (by constantly holding the enable motion control button and hence not using auto-lock at all) is optimal.
flashmozzg I've played and beat all the games and preferred the Wii version. Especially in the first game having to rub the bandages down sucked as did having to double click for healing touch. I liked being able to switch tools with the numchuk and felt like I was personally faster gameplay wise. I will say with the Wii you have to be careful how far or close you are to the sensor bar. I noticed if its not right the pointer will stick or not detect. No one really talks about this being one of the reasons why the motion controls for the system were so bad. I got to where I could gauge how far away to be. Anyway I like all the games and if you like the DS ones better that's fine. I do find trauma team the weakest in the series so ds ones ahead of it.

Okay, so the Nintendo Switch has no complicated control gimmicks, has powerful enough hardware, and there hasn't ever been a Katamari game on a Nintendo console... so... WHY DON'T THEY MAKE A NEW KATAMARI ON THE SWITCH!?
I would agree that motion controls are kinda gimmicky, but the best use I've found for them is on Zelda Breath of the Wild to slightly adjust your aim with bows. It's so much easier to get a headshot when you don't have to flick a stick around!
My classmate couldn't understand the appeal of Katamari games just by me describing it. One day, he and another friend who liked Katamari convinced him to play. Cue two hours of playing later and he started to hum along. He actually bought Katamari Forever the other day too.
I'm surprised to see that he didn't mentionned the fact that Damacy was the only Katamari game that never got an PAL release, since they thought that the game is too “quirky” for these markets, yet EA decided to release “We Love Katamari” and “Me and my Katamari” in PAL markets two years after the release of Damacy, with considerable success.
I keep hoping to see a Katamari game come out on the current systems, the X-Box One could really do with a game as trippy as Katamari. Fun games and completely bonkers.

I've only played 'We Love Katamari' for the PS2, but that one game made me fall in love with the whole series.
