This is what non Lotus enthusiasts want, yes.

And that sadly is who Lotus want to attract because there are many more of them.

We’ll see. People do want SUVs alas, but do they want fully electric ones with all the limitations - range, abysmal charging infrastructure.

@@craigyirush3492 I like to think ‘old Lotus’ with access to major investment could have done something innovative with hybrid and or lightweight engineering they made tri fuel Exiges and Evora hybrid prototypes years ago but we’ll never know now, they are definitely not that company any more.

Yeah, their are a lot of non lotus enthusiasts wanting £118k electric two plus ton cars. Can’t wait to observe the huge! Depreciation on these. Casing point the depreciation on the Emiras. 😂

"...people simply don't want proper lotuses anymore..." speak for yourself 😂
At least we can still purchase used Lotuses

These are made in China and will be sold in Australia at a different dealership to the Emira

I dont mind lotus chasing other segments of the market, I dont mind lotus rebadging other manufacture cars, but they just displaced their true old genuine fan base

I don’t want some feminist telling me what “I don’t want” anymore.

I'm deeply anti-SUV and own a "heritage" Lotus myself, so no fan of the Eletre. But as long as these things give Lotus the money to continue to make great sports cars (as with Porsche), I'm all for it.

I think they have already made all the great internal combustion sports cars that they’re going to make. Elise successor, if it ever shows up, will be EV only. Might be amazing but I get the feeling that the new company’s heart isn’t into sports cars any longer. A lot more money and thought has gone into the Eletre than the Emira. As the boss of Geely said at the 70th event at Hethel ‘no more fast and furious’!

Very on point & also hilarious Jonny!
Hopefully there could be something left in the pipeline for ‘old’ Lotus enthusiasts if they eventually do a proper lightweight version AMG 4pot Emira with 450+ bhp. Now that would be something to re-kindle interest.

@@ZALFAND Emira will need 475bhp to match the GT430’s power:weight but will we see an Emira with that much? No chance with V6 and will Merc allow 475bhp from the AMG 4? I have my doubts. Best enjoy what we’ve got while we can I reckon.
