And why it is to be burned and replaced with a new one if it does. I lived in an apartment complex that flew the flag at the office building and it fell on the ground. I went in to ask the manager what she was going to do with the flag and she said put it back up. I was a little surprised that a 29 year old never heard of why it must be burned. She refused to burn it and put it back up. ignorant and disrespectful.

Hi Ruky, I just want to thank you for your genuine thoughts and your efforts to promote this Star Spangled Banner video to the world of you tube. I've watched this video multiple times and each time I said to myself that I won't get emotional this time (I have lied every time, the waterworks still persist). I come from an Old & Honorable Family, my 9th Great-grandfather (Thomas "The Immigrant" Blodgett) arrived in America with his wife-Susanne and 2 sons; Daniel-4 yrs. & Samuel 1 1/2 yrs. from London, England in 1635 (just 15 yrs. after the Mayflower arrived. Thomas "The Immigrant" Blodgett is the Founder of the entire Blodgett Family in America. There were well over 100 Blodgett family members that fought in the American Revolutionary War itself, and we fought in every war or conflict that America has ever been involved in since. In fact, during the Revolutionary war my 4th & 5th Great-grandfather (yes, they were father & son) Samuel, 4th G-gf and Asa, 5th G-gf were captured by both, the British and the Indians who were fighting together against the Colonials. They put a rope around Asa's neck then tied the other end around a tree branch while he was standing on stump and left him there for a very ,very long time. His son Samuel was tied to a post and was going to be burned alive. After an undisclosed amount of time had pasted and their fate was nearly upon them, and by some means, perhaps the markings of a tattoo, or a piece of jewelry etc. the British Officer was able to identify them as members of the Free Mason Society (a World Wide Society) of which the British Officer was a member as well. So, he decided not to kill them but, to keep them as prisoners and work them as slaves on their ships for months until they later escaped. Had Samuel perished, I would not be sharing this story with you, and I would never had discovered that I am also a 2nd Cousin 8x removed to President George Washington. I am in the closing stages of becoming Member of the Sons of the American Revolution and even the S.A.R. Pledge chokes me up when I recite it. S.A.R. Pledge; "We, descendants of the heroes of the American Revolution who, by their sacrifices, established the United States of America, reaffirm our faith in the principles of liberty and our Constitutional Republic, and solemnly pledge ourselves to defend them against every foe". I am so proud to be an American. I wish for world peace, after all, we are all brothers & sisters in the eyes of GOD.

Nothing disrespected the American Flag as much as the rioters at the Nation's Capital beating policemen with the American flag. Why is it difficult to acknowledge what is reality? America is a nation of many diverse peoples and what makes all American is the mutual respect and patriotism for the nation's symbols and institutions. Verdad? (Spanish for true or truth).

@@dennisstafford1749 do you honestly think that I condone the actions of the people you're calling out?
Next I'd like to address the banner being smashed into police by the very people who stand for blue lives matter. Are you going to act as though there's not video evidence of antifa members dressed in Maga, being waved up the steps by Capitol Hill Police as they cleared the barriers? Liberals keep saying insurrection... yet not a shot was fired.
Do you think conservatives or violent people? As though conservative people aren't straight out of the womb all about Justice? Is it really a Nazi slogan to say all lives matter? The point you make about inquiries into the violence... the funniest thing about that is, Republicans didn't reject the 9/11 style Commission until after Democrats rejected investigations into the year-long rioting before this so-called insurrection.
And while I would agree that the sixties and seventies didn't solve the problems to a conclusion, what it did do is make it much more equal than people would give it credit for today. Because of the 60s and 70s oh, we now have black CEOs, black millionaires, affirmative action (which is racist in and of itself), black Scholars and historians... quite literally minorities today have it way better than pre-1960. How is that anything close to deniable? That list goes on and on.
You can name every atrocity from our culture in America from now until the sun goes down... but the place those actions on one group is ignorance on a scale I've never seen.
And your last point I completely agree on... America has a lot of different people, a lot of different culture, and it's been that way since the beginning. The only place I would defer, is your comment about mutual respect... that's where liberals fail. By definition, liberals aren't very liberal.

Easy peasy have an inquiry. There is a lot of videotape my friend and the interviews would indicate the opposite of what you profess as truth. Let us find out. So many use our flag as a tool in their politics. Our flag is a symbol of the price that was paid for us to have the freedoms that we have. It is a symbol and trophy of respect to those that have given all to pay for that freedom. Kneeling or desecrating our flag is and always will be wrong. There is no cause that warrants the disrespect of our flag. Our flag is not a symbol of the government. @@parsifal40002 No problem. Not any fault of yours either. This country and its school system etc is terrible at making sure our own history is taught properly.
This is a small list of corrected information I saw as wrong in the video...not complete but gives a better view of what actually happened.
      1. First of all this took place during the War of 1812. Specifically on Sept. 13th 1814, they were STATES, NOT Colonies.
      2. The American government did NOT ask Key to go negotiate for prisoners. He went with the main goal being to go talk about freeing his friend, Dr. William Beanes.
      3. He did not go by raft, he sailed out to the fleet on an American Sloop under a flag of truce, which during the bombardment was being towed behind a British ship and from that Sloop is where Key watched the fight. So he could NOT have been calling down to or talking to prisoners.
      4. The forts name is Fort McHenry NOT Fort Henry and it WAS a primary military fort built to protect Baltimore and the Harbor. There were very few if any women and children in that fort during the battle. It started being built in 1798 and was finished in 1800.
      5. It was NOT the entire British war fleet but only around 19 ships including The Congreve rocket ship HMS Erebus, mortar vessels HMS Terror, HMS Volcano, HMS Meteor, HMS Devastation, and HMS Aetna and the rest being larger warships like the HMS Surprise and other 38 gun frigates etc.
      6. The flag NEVER fell during the battle. In fact there were two flags flown during the fight. First was the larger 30ftx42ft Garrison flag made of wool. Then as it started to rain Major George Armistead the fort commander ordered the larger flag to be taken down and a smaller 17ftx25ft Storm flag, both made by Mary Pickersgill, to be raised over the fort.
      7. Patriots bodies did NOT hold that flag up as claimed. Casualties during the fight were very light with only 4 Americans being killed and 24 being wounded. Around 300 British were killed during this.
Of those 300 British killed most were from a land force the British landed to attack the city of Baltimore but they got spotted by Fort Covington and Fort Babcock and were fired upon forcing them to withdraw.

We stand for her out of respect for what she stands for and for all if those who have died to protect us 🇺🇸 . Other countries misinterpret our pride for arrogance. I understand that. The story is mostly fiction. It doesn't mean the flag itself or the fort or the war or the star spangled banner isn't real. I mean shit man this story is full of obvious historical inaccuracies and didn't even get or try to get basic facts right like the name of the fort in typical right-winger bullshit fashion, and it's not even clear that the narrator understands the difference between the war for independence and the war of 1812. The story was crafted by a church for religious purposes, one can find who or what is behind it, but it's easy to see it's more religious propaganda than an accurate recounting.

While in school I still remember taking a field trip to Mt. Olive Cemetry in MD, where he is buried. They have a monument to him along with the words to the National Anthem. It is more disrespectful to treat any American as less than human. The song commemorates fighting for our freedom. Many ethnicities have fought for it. Kneeling before the flag is not disrespectful, it is an homage to those that have been murdered at the hands of law enforcement because of racism. If you can watch video On footage of American men, women and children being murdered and not demand justice for those murders, I don't believe you are patriotic at all. Shooting a bird at the flag would be disrespectful. Kneeling before a flag is respectful, yet sends a message that all Americans do not have the same rights that the people at Fort McHenry fought for.

We file suit in a court of law. Sure we need police reform. However the biggest problem starts at home. Society has worked out a plan in case some didn't get the memo. It goes a little something like this. You stay in school, get a job, any job, no one is above working at mcdonalds. Find a like spouse, and start a family. Basically thats all there is to it.
Spread the word! No more babies mommas because those babies don't have a chance. Because all this other BS is like putting the cart before the horse. Naturally you will disagree, but know that all others feel the same as I do and most all others at least attempt the marriage and family thing.
We don't just have babies and wait for the welfare check once a month as a first option. Sure most marriages fail. But heres the thing. If you find a man who commits to marriage, he is more likely to be a active father in the childrens lives. If the young ladies left the thugs alone, they would eventually die out.
As far as I know, there were not any black men at Fort Henry so yeah, totally disrespectful to our forefathers who literally knowingly they would die holding up the flag pole with their bodies. As a result of what these men did, is why we can play football.
Like the quote says though, "I would rather die standing than live on my knees" and is how these idiots who kneel live. On their knees. None of this is opinion, it is fact.

It's sad when people care more about a piece of cloth and a song more than they do for humans life, true freedom and justice. This was during the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key wrote the original poem in 1814. It was eventually put to music & became our national anthem in 1931. Many folks will say that this particular video isn't entirely 100% accurate, but that's alright. You get the basics of it's history & why Americans are so prideful when it comes to our symbol of freedom.
Most American kids did learn about the War of 1812 in school. Well, at least we did back when I was in high school (early to mid 80's). But for many, it just went in one ear & out the other. All "boring" parts of history that we had to memorize in order to pass tests & finals. Most never gave it a 2nd thought after completing the class. I wonder, how many actually know the story these days? It's sad that people today take it (the history) and our flag for granted. I've watched several of these reaction videos from people all over the world (New Zealand, England, Russia, Scotland, etc) and all these "foreigners" across the globe understand that better than some of the so called "patriots" living here in the U.S.A.
My father served 30+ years of active duty in the United States Army. He was completely heartbroken when the riots of January 6th took place in Washington DC. It made him livid to see his beloved flag being used as a weapon against fellow Americans, on the steps of & within the sacred halls of our nation’s capital. He's 86 now with mobility issues, but he still insists on standing & saluting "Old Glory", whenever the anthem is played. I gladly help steady him up, as he jokes that he needs help so he doesn't toppled over his walker & make a spectacle of himself. He also makes it a point to say thank you to every solider in uniform, police, & other public service workers. :-)
OK, now that you know the story, you must watch what has been deemed as one of the greatest performances of our anthem to date. Please check out Whitney Houston's amazing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, at Superbowl XXV (January 1991). You can find many videos on TH-cam of her incredible performance. You won't be disappointed.

The FACT that it is, was done so by the preacher's voice who narrates, as a sermon for his "flock" in order to inappropriately link Christianity to the founding of our country, and the 225+year misinformation campaign pain that we are somehow supposed to accept that we are a Christian nation.
I have no issues with Christianity or any religions, if that is what gives someone inner peace and joy in their life, who the heck am I to tell them any different. The author was a slave owner...i personally do not feel it negates the lives of those who died at the base of that flag, through the war, and as British prisoners. When you have a favorite singer and they right a questionable song do you cut them off your list or do you skip that song. This verse is the recognized national anthem of the USA. The rest is never song. I wish people still held common sense and decency.

3rd verse isn’t even about black slaves. The slave part was a metaphor for Americans who were force to fight under British rule during the war of 1812 and the napoleonic wars.

"O, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?"
Why is there a question mark? Because it's a question. One that the prisoners were asking Francis Scott Key.
If you look up the whole song that part is written multiple ways most of them being more declarative and exclamatory.

Anyone disrespecting that flag in our presence is in for an ass whooping. The flag should never touch the ground . We all have flag poles in front yard. Flag goes up in the morning and down and folded properly at dusk.

@@Mars-sp2gx What??? Millions of Indigenous peoples, millions of slaves imported from Africa, the existence of a Tejano culture in Texas that preceded Anglo-Saxon settlers, millions of Chinese who worked on the Western portion of the Trans-Atlantic Railroad, the French habitants of pre-USA existence. St. Louis was a city well before Lewis and Clark arrived and the occupants (white, red and black) greeted them with aid and comfort. New Orleans already had a history before Jackson removed native peoples for Southern settlement. The city of Cahokia whose inhabitants had dispersed by the 1400s but whose culture and heritage influenced other indigenous peoples. Auguste Chouteau may have been from French parents but he lived his entire life in the interior of America and fathered children with the Osage and perhaps others. Pierre Chouteau was the paterfamilias of the ballerina Maria Tallchief. Many Black families have a white or native ancestor in their DNA. The Irish who dispersed after the Great Hunger mixed with many other people and went from being despised to prominent citizens. The American Experience is complex and rich. Racial diversity and mixing IS the story of America with a lot of backlash and bumps and reactionary violence along the way. America's history has been the battle to live up to its own aspirations. The violence, backlash, and racism along the way speaks to the negative part of human behavior, but the victory (although slow) of inclusion is America's strength. It is the aspiration spoken of in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. It is the battle to overcome prejudice and narrowmindedness.

There is no possible way there were ever in the "millions" of indians in North America, they never had the farming or anything else to sustain such numbers, hence why they were more nomadic and in smaller groups. Now if we were talking about the mayans aztecs or incas in south america, ya you could spout those numbers, but we arent talking about South America. Your numbers are wayyyyyy off, however, no, the history of this country is majoritly of whites and their contributions, and it was whites who allowed non whites in. Yes there is some rough spots, but eventually the whites overcame and allowed the others in and welcomed, what made the USA successful was the fact that EVERYONE assimilated and there was ONE Culture. @@Mars-sp2gx Even with diseases that may have eliminated as much as 90% of the indigenous populations there were tribes and communities that had rebounded and seen population growth. As natives were pushed ever westward they became nomadic or semi-nomadic. But many groups like the Cherokee and Choctaw/Chickasha/Red Sticks had Europeanized with farms and livestock and moved into towns and villages. They were pushed off their lands and robbed of belonging even after winning their claims in the Supreme Court. The Osage maintained a trading relationship and empire that covered parts of Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. The Cherokee developed their own alphabet and printed newspapers and books in their own language. There were metis and French Habitant settlements at Cahokia and Kaskaskia as early as 1699 and they existed when LaClede moved up from New Orleans to establish St. Louis. One of the Founders of Mobile married a Kaskaskia Woman and was recorded in Church records moved to Quebec. Early White inhabitants of the South married metis, Indian, Creole, or Black women. Slavery at first included Indians and Black. There was intermixing of all races as the availability of women took precedent over race. Ste. Genevieve is the oldest permanent French Settlement in Missouri but the French had trading post near present day Ft.. Leavenworth, Ks. as early as 1725. The once great Mississippian Culture was gone by the arrival of the European but they are evidence of advanced cultures and large stable populations in North America prior to European migration. Cahokia with perhaps a population of 20,000. The Chinese importation of labor is unknown but as many as 300,000 possibly perished as a result of the construction of the Railroad and brutal treatment by ignorant Whites. The immigration to the U.S. is in starts and spouts but the average is about 1 million per year every year including now (just 930,000 now). The immigration whether from Scotland, Germany, Ireland, or the Volga was most often the result of famine, persecution, or dissidents fleeing situations they found disagreeable. The European Nation with the most immigration to the U.S. and descendants so far has been Germany. Inventors, Mathematicians, Chemist, Engineers, Industrialist, Doctors, Scientist have been of every race, ethnic origin, color, religion, language group, gender, and sexual preference. Perhaps more varied in the U.S. prior to 1950 than anywhere else on the globe. Native Populations prior to the arrival of the Europeans numbered well into the millions. Disease was the great killer as native peoples had no immunities to European diseases and plagues like smallpox. Tejanos fought against Santa Ana in the first and latter stages of the Texas Revolt and received little acknowledgement from European settlers.
