72 year old commercial pilot here - - - whenever I miss flying - I break out this video and it all comes back to me - feel like I am right back in there again. Thanks so much for posting this - one of the best videos out there on TH-cam that illustrates the pure joy of just relaxing with your airplane on a beautiful day!!
Back in 1970 I started flying gliders and the club used Super Cubs for tow planes. My dad was a club director and owned one of the Cubs, CF-KLL (modern registration is C-FKLL) which still flies in northern Ontario. My dad was a Lancaster pilot in WWII and had no issue with a tail-dragger lol. These videos are so awesome! Sideslips are a way of life for tow planes getting back down as quick as possible. I don't know about anyone else but I can smell the fabric and Lycoming exhaust. Thanks a million!
That looks super fun. I fly a Pitts so it is a different kind of fun. Looks like you can go visit lots of places in a super cub. I think I'll end up with something like that eventually. Early morning flight particularly beautiful.
Lovely flying, beautiful plane, location etc. Living an enviable life and giving folks like me some wonderful aspirations! Thank you for sharing. Regards from Sydney, Aust - Dave
Absolutely loved ur flying time...I would just love to go up in one of these beauties, (after having flight training), 😜😜 but no I loved seeing what you saw, and I never realised the smart little aircraft s could land on grass..!! Thanks again..😁😁👍👍👍👍
I have to agree with another commenter, never seen that many maintained grass strips, close together. Do all of those farms have airplanes. What I also like about this video, is not much chatter on the radio. Most of my flying was done in a Champ with no electrical system, now if someone lands in a remote grass field, they think they have to talk on the radio.
This is amazing! One of the best flight videos which I saw on youtube, because it just feels so real. Do you use a microfone for the sound or is it recorded by the GoPro?
Do you ever record your ATC audio? I love your videos! I'm currently taking lessons out of KCPS across from St. Louis. My end goal is to get my tailwheel endorsement and hopefully own a Super Cub down the road. If you're ever looking for a passenger for a morning cruise... ;)
I do - whenever you hear me talking to a passenger in the video, you can hear my radio transmissions. I do, however rarely talk to ATC. I avoid Imperial entanglements.
5:08 Small brush fire, kinda hope that didnt get out of control, or was that actually one of those controlled burns just to get rid of possible some dead grass?
saw that at the end of the video when you were talking to those 2 people I saw two plugs on your left side, know one of those was for the mic you use to talk with the tower and other planes, but the other one said Phone, is that one for so you can actualy plug in your cell phone ands actually make telephone calls from the air????
Actually phone is headphone , and mic is microphone, headsets have two plugs , each different sizes - in general aviation. So the phone is to the ears- the headset - and the mic is what you talk into. Technically it is against FAA rules to place a cellular telephone call from the air. It confuses the cell towers with regards to signal, as it was explained to me.
I've never seen so many well maintained grass strips. Nice everything, I wish it were me!
I have watched this video so many times. It always gets me excited to go flying.
The 4k resolution, the sunlight, the perspective, the casual morning. Love it. Can't wait to fly on my own.
Thanks Scott!
Scott Smith Us non pilots can always dream of flying...try oculus rift glasses VR and xplane 11🚁✈️🥓😎

Very nice, I'm jealous, we had a '46 Champ in the mid 50's in Hurricane Utah, fun times !

Love it you should come flying up here in Alaska some time
Planning on it !!

Really enjoyed that! Cheers!
Thank you for watching!
Phenomenal.
Great airplane and nice flying! It makes me want to trade my J-3 up for a newer, more powerful Cub.
Awesomely clear footage. What kind of camera did you use ?
Also love the Instrument panel configuration. Did you have it upgraded ?
GoPro 4 black set to 4K resolution. Processed through Apple iMovie. Thanks for your comment!
Panel very upgraded - only the compass is original
If I went and got my licence I would want to do lots of touch and go's.
This is still one of the best flying videos on youtube. What camera did you use? The field of view is perfect.
Thanks! I believe it was a go pro 8 Super Wide view 4k 30fps on a go pro head mount
Awesome, thanks!
it got airborne in less than 5 secs.. and how many different strips did you land on.. i hope you know the owners..
This is amazing! One of the best flight videos which I saw on youtube, because it just feels so real. Do you use a microfone for the sound or is it recorded by the GoPro?
Thanks for watching! - the sound is from the Go Pro internal microphone
@@Cubonaut875 You should make more flying videos, this is awesome!
Thanks for watching! I will do another POV next time I go flying - check out my other videos on my channel

This isn't the Super Cub you're looking for...
Hahaha - that's great! Here's a link to one you may like: th-cam.com/video/zTZ-GR3mc7I/w-d-xo.html
5:08 Small brush fire, kinda hope that didnt get out of control, or was that actually one of those controlled burns just to get rid of possible some dead grass?
Just a pile of dead brush and trees burning. No true brush fires around here - too wet - too cultivated

Pardon my ignorance but what do you pull at 6:06 and why?, just had one flying lesson so far
That is the carburetor heat, it helps to prevent icing in the carburetor during power reduction. Keep flying!
Piper super cubs have a lot of left turn tendency, don't they?
Yes they do.
Do they still manufacture Supercubs
Piper does not manufacture Supercubs anymore. There is a great updated version - the Carbon Cub by CubCrafters - awesome airplane! cubcrafters.com
Ok, I'm officially jealous. also, at time 15:30 it looked like those poles had power lines between them.
No wires at 15:30 - they are buried between the poles. However, you do need to watch out for them!
Didn't know the Super Cub was so cramped...
Definitely made for smaller people - designed in the 40’s when people were not quite as filled out as they are today
Where are ya from?
John Robertson Central Illinois
Cubonaut875 o gotcha! I lived in north east Missouri for awhile and the scenery looked very familiar!

Joe Scott - bankrupt for sure! And very corrupt! I’d move if I could. Thanks for watching!
