Indeed the tiny O-ring is for different model as you said. Early Accord according to my Honda Dealership in Grantham. The parts guy had to ask the technician and one, of them actually knew. So mystery solved! To be fair they have been very good at looking after me and my countless Honda's over part 15 years both family and company cars, so shout out to the team there!

Thanks a lot for this video. I have the 2014 4-th gen. CR-V and it has the same engine like your 3-rd gen. here. I was misleaded by other videos showing the fuel filter under the rear seat... but then I watched your video and I realized it also fits to 2012 - 2014 2.2 i-dtec. And what a great engine it is! After changing the fuel filter runns again smooth like it used to run years ago...

it gets my goat trying to do my own cars so someone like you working everyday I can imagine the frustration! I have recently had a Kia venga, battery out air box out ECU! then Kia dealer reckons wipers and scuttle but think it may get it without that. then the filter is a screw oncanister but located in a metal holder which all has to come out. why such a serviceable item is hidden so much who knows. I wonder how many get missed. I also think the intervals are way too long. keep up the good work!

    • @OneAuto

It can be frustrating at times & yes I would imagine some people omit the filter from a service and hope it don't block later.

I see what you mean about buried. From what I hear and see the Asian diesels are the best engines these days, but the Euro market is the only place they sell, the other main car markets like the US and Japan have virtually no diesels. I think Honda shoe horned diesels into these vehicles as an afterthought and never really considered servicing. The Honda and older Toyota diesels are about the only diesel I would ever consider owning if I actually needed one.
Nice to see you anyway. Thanks for the cuppa. 👍

One Auto, had 05 accord cdti myself and its similar but not quite as bad. Engineers and designers should have one golden rule. Make service items easily accessible. How many back street garages skip difficult maintenance items like this. Then you get more problems. Its a vicious circle

What the heck! This is one failure I'll give on the 2011 Honda CR-V. That is a lot of work to replace a fuel filter. I've done many fuel filters, from located in the engine bay to underneath the car. I've never ever had to remove so much stuff. Some cars I replaced the filter in 15 minutes (start to clan up) that have it located in the engine bay area. There is some sardonic engineer laughing about this one!!

Does anyone know if this is the same on a 2014 idtec 2.2?

Thanks, I guessed it was as the air filter and battery are exactly the same layout. I'm going to do my MK4 2.2 next week after watching this video. Thanks for confirming 👍

Just for your info, the filter housing on mine was very tight and needed a longer bar on the socket for leverage but there isn't a lot of space to get one in. Lots of spillage as well so put loads of paper towel around it. I didn't have diesel to top the reservoir up but after a few cranks of the engine it got through ok. Like most jobs, once you've done it it's easy the second time!
