  • Here is the 20-21-2298 Trilogy video. A definite passion project.
    .
This video was filmed entirely on a few 20 year old 3-chip Mini DV cameras.
    .
Not that anyone will care or even read this, but in closing this chapter, I shall write a few geeky lines.
    .
Sadly, I don’t think it’s possible to continue with this style as the old cameras and computers are quite literally dying. Things just degrade, within, even if you find near perfect condition older gear.
    .
It was still very enjoyable having to slave through the cassette tapes, form relationship with the captured clips also embrace the various malfunctions and glitches that occur along the way. All of the visuals were generated in-camera which is all very organic and awesome. I’d rather jump from a cliff than use a filter or after-effects.
    .
The tapes were purchased off eBay from a guy who filmed weddings in the 90s…. The footage is still on them and every now and then someone cutting a cake will pop up. Statistically, most of the people are now divorced so maybe that’s a sign to move on as well.
    .
Saying that, I’m told that 3-chip is trendy now? well, maybe…. but it’s simply my roots. Let’s hope for a comeback, like vinyl.
    .
Of course, this all goes unnoticed to the uninterested, but hey, Tic-tacing (or whatever it’s called) is way more exciting, I guess.
    .
You’ve got to love 10 sec clips with some horrific mumbling lo-fi tune, it gets me so amped! (that’s sarcasm by the way)
    .
Anyway, I’ll attempt to stick to the ‘craft’ side of things.
    .
Until the aliens take over, enjoy the video.
    .
    Steev.

I don't bother with Instagram, part reason for the low effort, single clips, phone clips, lack of zoom use, etc. The visual quality of the video, even compressed looks good on my 32" monitor. I'd say you've done a swell job Steev!
