"From the studio that brought you The Witch, Hereditary, & Midsommar"
Me: "You already have my attention with the studio logo."
Yeah there's no need for all that tbh lol. Literally just get excited when I see A24
No joke, I actually love their logo and get super excited whenever I see it! It's great :)
"Don't judge somebody until you walk a mile in their shoes"
(Sees Maude's shoes)*
Me: Ok im just not going to judge.
"Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares?... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!"
- Billy Connolly
A24 needs to make their little streaming service where they put their movies, I’d buy the hell out of that
I lost it when she put the spikes in her shoes and ACTUALLY wore them. I thought they were for someone else
Those aren't spikes those are rusted nails. When she put them on I was shocked and winced when she was in pain.
problably she sinned so she is phisically martyring herself so that lord forgives her
I find it interesting how they explicitly mention the director's name even though this is her debut feature, don't think I've seen that in a trailer before.
@jigyoda "Saint Maud is an 2019 British psychological horror film, written and directed by Rose Glass in her directorial debut..."
Nick Owens she must have some short films or something under her belt that got them excited, the people behind hereditary and the rest
i've just finished the movie a couple of minutes ago and that final scene will never leave my memories.... how horrendous it must feel for someone to think they're doing the greatest of things while in reality, they're sinking to the lowest depths ...
Oh my god, this looks intense, disturbing, and awful.
I'm sold.
Idk why but it didn't give me the same intense and creeped out feeling Midsommar, Lighthouse or hereditary gave me. I still wanna see it but I'm not as excited for it as I was for the other films
@@PotatoMaGobinus I said the same after just watching the trailers of midsommer and heriditary
"Intense disturbing and awful" well that is two out of three things I look forward in a horror movie
So disturbing and brilliantly shot. The suspense as her character develops is truly excellent. Great to see really suspenseful menacing thrillers like this back again.
Movie was awful. I love A24 films but this was just anticlimactic and unusual from them.
A24 be like: Bad things happen, things gets worse, and then they all die, the end.
Maximum Matrix not true, *every (and yes Ik by every you mean many) horror movie INCLUDING the ones made by A24 :) it’s NOT a bad thing: just means it is repetitive, and the cynical outcome becomes more predictable. Also of course they have movies like moon light that are an exception too, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
"From the studio that brought you The Witch, Hereditary, & Midsommar"
Like anything more needed to be said after mentioning A24.

I agree, but kinda don't like how the trailer is trying to piggyback on that clout

Saw it last night. It's so dark, so personal and very disturbing. Do not expect an out an out horror, this is very grounded and it's really more of a tragedy in it's depiction of religious madness and torment.
Terrific stuff
@@hypnodance I suppose so. But with an emphasis on fanaticism, madness and possession
Does this film mock God or is it just about the insane religious people?
I love how the trailer makes the movie look so intense and fast paced, when in fact you will get a slow burner of a really depressing movie.
yeah i kinda expected that to be true since all these a24 movies got major twists.

I was so upset after they posted this and then took it down, happy it’s back though can’t wait to see it.
Anyone know why it was taken down? Was a scene too controversial or the trailer?
This is the second horror movie I've seen advertised in the past month where a female has a dilusianol and a extremely obsessive relationship with make believe friend/entity.
@@chaosdweller "with make believe friend/entity" is that what we're calling God now? Don't get me wrong I'm not religious but belief in God is not uncommon

Kayo Terrell mainly because they are twisting the faith that is Christianity into some sick disturbing illustration. This makes following God our time be something it’s really not.

A month later after my first viewing and this flick is still on my mind. It's a "Slow Burner" without the slow..burning?? The acting had me SHOOK; wonderful performances. I highly recommend this ride 7.5/10
I love it so much. I understand Maud. Just because she is insane by worldly standards doesn't mean her experience of God isn't real.
This has slow burn written all over it.
I don't mind a slow burn if there is a good payoff. Recently saw Midsommar and was a bit disappointed near the end. Was expecting something mindblowing but it had a common ending that you see coming. Great suspense and buildup, but the payoff wasn't worth it.
Need to see Hereditary, which I heard is better than Midsommar.

I liked Midsommar more. It's funny that I feel the opposite about it. I liked the ending, but didn't feel it had enough build up.

SEASON 3: Midsommar
SEASON 4: In Fabric
SEASON 5: Saint Maud
SEASON 6: Lamb

Edit: this list for summoning, worshiper, or dealing with demon movies from A24
dont forget. killing the sacred deer and the lighthouse. the 2 win cannes
Calamity: I think you have forget to mention The Hole In The Ground (movie) in the above list.
The thing I like about A24 horror films is that they never use jumpscares, they use really terror through a slow burn and a feeling of dread, like the horror films from the 1970s-2000s.
Honestly, I thought the use of Billie Eilish worked. I love the creepy string music as much as the next person, but I thought the song was kinda fitting.
as billie's fan, watching this creepy trailer made it "vibing" for me lol
I thought it was perfect as well ...but that's because I did not know it was Billie Elish and it just sounded creepy ...AND it was speaking about someone being a "GOOD GIRL" going to ....and then the word sounds muffled so it was PERFECT because this was a girl trying to be SO good but ...where was she going because it sure seemed ...muffled ....and not exactly Heaven LOL!
So I am thinking the problem with the song ...judging by the comments outside of this chain ... was NOT the song itself but the fact that it was Billie Elish singing it!
People are getting caught in who the SINGER is and having an issue I did NOT know WHO it was BUT became curious to know who because the lyric was muffled & I was curious to know what the singer was saying at the end of the phrase: "All Good Girls Go to *&^%#"
It worked for me though LOL

There are good movies.
Then there are great movies.
Then there are A24 movies...

There are average movies
There are bad movies
Then there are Disney movies

Yeah, at this rate it feels like I'm subscribed to whatever they make.
Who else here came from China Mclain?
Cjx Savage me I’m disappointed in this shit do they think Christians are like this?
I’m here, I don’t think this movie is attacking Christians. This woman is obviously possessed in some way, people have enough common sense to know Christians aren’t going around putting nails in their shoes smh
maddo _219 The girl was doing everything for god insane things, thts not the representation of god and the fact they used prayers or religious staff for a horror movie is disrespectful. God is not the subject of ur need for entertainment. I’m sorry if this came out as offensive.
rachel Gebre people have been doing insane things in the name of god for centuries though- in real life. (Example- mass murders, mass shootings, the Spanish Inquisition etc) Sadly people are still doing awful things in the name of god to this day. However, this movie isn’t supposed to be realistic in any way. It appears to be very very over exaggerated- as fictional movies are. This girl is very obviously possessed or mentally unwell. As I said, nobody thinks Christians are walking around with nails in their shoes. Plus, if people are going to Hollywood movies to see examples of what a Christian should look like, they’ve gone to the wrong place.
A truly twisted and stunning work of art. Watched this film and was taken away by the craftmanship and originality of its concept. 10/10

Thank god for A24 the last couple years. They've consistently been among my favorite movies of the last few years. VVitch, hereditary, light house, now we got green knight coming which looks really amazing, and saint Maud that also looks delightfully disturbing
This movie was definitely worth watching. Chilling, disturbing and compelling in equal measure.

@Lord Farquaad What does this have to do with anything? Lol. The girl in this trailer is a zealot, that's clear as day
u r forgetting that Catholic people used to kill/burn women in the name of a witch and these people used to call them men of god .the thing is Everyone has done a sinful act in a different way. Don't be so childish.
@Lord Farquaad don't narrow it to just ALL Muslims, sir. it could literally be anyone with different religion but religion is really besides the point when it comes to that BUT people are quick to highlight the RELIGION when a 'Muslim' does that .... but when a Caucasian man does that, people just simply say his name not his religion.... don't be stereotypical on ones religion. thank you, have a good day.
I feel like people don't really get that A24 isn't a studio, it's a distribution company. They buy movies and put them into theaters, they don't make them.
@@Rollin_HG @inkshooter Both. They produce and distribute. The VVitch and Midsommar (as well as Spring Breakers, Lady Bird, Ex Machina, Room, i.e.) were distributed by A24 (which means anyway that they have and eye on recognising a good movie and are willing to buy it and spread it all over US or worldwide). But they produce too: Moonlight (Oscar winning), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (Cannes' nominee) and The Lighthouse, for exemple, are their own productions :)
@@AlbertoCipolla That still doesn't make them a studio, a studio actually makes films, it doesn't just finance them.

Everybody gangsta till we hear a Billie Eilish song in a horror movie trailer.
The Final Shot is Something Else
This movie was....intense. very eerie. Couldnt stop watching. Ending was fantastic.
At the end when she said, "What if I'm getting it all wrong." Perhaps Maud see's herself as serving God, living through him and in him. But then she slowly realizes it's not the presence of God in her, it's something more sinister.
Either way this movie had me at A24.
That’s my theory just off of this first trailer, but the entire trailer was cryptic enough to make me feel reluctant to commit to that theory.
That might also explain the nails in shoes - maybe it's a religious zealot's attempt at self-flagellation or exorcism after realising she was being possessed by a demon the whole time (mirroring the stigmata). This would make it a horror film about what happens when exactly the wrong person is subjected to the standard demonic possession plot
A24 have such a unique style of films.
My mental health: Ya know, we’re making some good positive strides everything is looking peachy.
A24 logo appears: ...yeah, about that.

The last couple of months I fell in love with A24. Definitely watching this movie in the theater!
Oh, I’ve seen this. It is quite a slow burn from the start, and had no idea what kind of story it was about to unfold. As it slowly unfolds, very strange it gets, especially in terms of how Maud is trying to reach her goal. And when it got to the end... I will say no more.
I’ll say, Maud is one hell of a committed person.

PG At AFI Fest, there were two showings on two separate days, (11:59pm, 11pm) and I chose 11pm.

So I saw this at tiff and it’s probably the best horror movie I’ve seen in years but this trailer isn’t very accurate. It’s a really quiet slow character study until the last 20 or so minutes when it goes off the rails for literally a millisecond. It does feature a jump-scare that puts The Exorcist III nurse station scene to shame though.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever be as good of a jump scare as that Exorcist III scene.
