Thanks for this! Was wondering to try and fix as the TV has no sound and no HDMI picture. DVB and streaming works fine but no sound.

I have just fixed a TX-49GX555B it had the same problem you fixed by changing the back lights by changing the back light settings to 49 it was on 90. Everything works may be it will go again we shall see.
To change the back light settings you have to change the power setting to energy savings to CUSTOM and then change the back light settings then go back to energy savings and change back to OFF and that`s my quick fix.
    Good luck.

Got to say, after watching your video and living with this model of TV for 7 years, it sounds like I've got whatever value out of it long ago! really it's so disappointing that it's so hard to fix them, and it even has the design flaw that cooks some of the LEDs... I think tomorrow will be it's final adventure, to the tip! Ironically the TV I replaced it with was one given to me when someone was selling their house! No Frame smoothing BS associated with it thankfully!

Hi ya chap after watching your vid I had a look at mine and taking it appart. Bloody screen supports snapped so I designed a new screen support that I got printed in abs and fits perfectly. Please let me know if you would like the design file to get your own printed.

Mate I am desperate, do you happen to have the supports... I will find someone somewhere that might be able to print it, but otherwise I have no clue what to do.

Hi chaps I successfully 3D printed these last year through a 3d printing service I will happily make file avalible to you. The only note is each one needed a dab of super glue to stop them rotating out

I have one of these that was given to me from my mother in law. It has a blue hue to it, would it be the backlight?

Hello from Czech republic. I have a problem with same type of Panasonic TV. I found one bad led-diode chip on strip. I want to change only this one. Can you help me with parameters of used LED chip? I found it on ebay, but delivery time and prize is crazy. I think i could buy it here from our republic, but i can't find a parameter of the chip. Do you have some information of it? Thank you. Pavel CZ

Just acquired one of these for free. Flashing standbye light, it powers on, leds light up but theres no images. Plugged sky box in and sound is there.
So ive got everything bar an image so is this the same fault here. If an LED is gone does it cause a pictureless screen. Last owner changed the TCON then gave up.

      Always a backlight issue.

@@allenfleckney5969 thanks. If I strip it and find all leds working is it worth looking at the AV board.? I can get a refurbed one quite cheap.

Hellooo! I enjoyed your video, thanks!
I have this TV and the whole lower half of the screen has gone dim. You can still see the image.
I like to tinker and take things apart to know how they work, but think this might be a step beyond my interests and tools available.
So it’s either an expensive repair, or buy a new TV. If I end up buying a new one, what is the best brand for ease of fixing and available parts, in your experience?

    • @josephtoby8826

I just held the power button down for 30 seconds and the backlights are all on again... time will tell if it’s solved the issue.

Sorry for dragging up the old 400B thread Allen! Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you to fix mine.....I've seen both of your videos about repairing these, great info. Just one question - mine stays on for a good 30 minutes sometimes, with the power supply buzzing away, before the backlights shut down. I've noticed the PSU stops buzzing instantly when the backlights go off. Could it be likely that it's the PSU at fault here? Or both?

Sure. I do have a working set of backlights with a working boards all ready to go. Or you have to do ie replace the screen. Then you can keep yours for spares.

Hi buddy, hope you can help here, ive got one of these tellys that i picked up for nothing from an old shop, thing is the telly blinks its red light 10 times, ive replaced the psu, still the same thing, however, ive tried disconnecting the backlight and the issue still remains, im wondering if i have either a bad t-con board or a bad mainboard, cause even with the t-con board disconnected, i still have the same fault, cheers, hope u can help :)

Such a shame that Panasonic followed Toshiba in selling out to Vestel for the lower models.
I guess they just couldn't compete in such a race-to-the-bottom market.
